Genesis 3:24 So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
I used to understand the above as the Cherubims being placed to keep man from entering the garden of Eden as they were no longer worthy but I was mistaken. The Cherubims are instead keeping the way to the Tree, to our Savior...open. The Cherubims and their "flaming sword" are....
The Cherubims are the angels/spirits that guide the elect and the elect areHis ministers in this lifetime. The elect are His flaming fire. The sword is the Word from the mouth of the elect, which are the Words of the Lord. The flaming sword the Cherubims use to keep the way to the Savior open, for all that will, is....the elect and the Word of the Lord....His flaming sword!
Another reference to the cherubims is.....
There they stood at the door of the east gate to the house of the Lord. Before it was at the east of the garden of Eden. One and the same? God's garden of Eden is....His children, His house. Why are the Cherubim on the east side?
Cain, already outside Eden, went to dwell "in the land" on the east side of Eden, the same side the Cherubims were placed....why? Remember too that men are made of earth. Cain went to dwell in the land/earth.
There we see a sign of Cain's presence in the "people of the east." A great stone kept waters that give life from the sheep. Sheep are symbolic of God's children, water is symbolic of truth, living water. The people from the east, those Cain dwells in, are those that try to keep living water from God's children. Who or what is the "great stone" on "the mouth" of life giving waters? There are two stones/rocks to consider. "For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges." [Deu.32:31] Other mentions associated with evil "from the east," Cain's dominion, are....
God uses the ill winds, evil spirit, from the east to serve His purpose but He keeps a guard against those from the east that would keep His children from finding their way to the Tree.....
God placed the cherubim with His elect and His Word to guard those that dwell in the earth of the east. They stand guard "before the tabernacle of the congregation," the house of the Lord, the garden of Eden. It is they that go forward with His Word, it is they that "carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place." The "filthiness" being idolatry and false teaching.
At the end of this age, the beginning of the millennium.....
The kings of the east are the elect, the man child. The Savior dwells in them and all are the "glory of the LORD" that spiritually return from the east where they rid the Lord's house of "filthiness." They are the "lighting from the east," the "flaming sword" of the Cherubims.
The ill wind, evil spirit, from the east has been defeated, all that believed are in the garden and Satan is locked away for the thousand years.
Those from the east of Eden, east of Jerusalem....those that are wise, will SEE, will come to worship Him.
