@Heart2Soul The parlors are gradually opening up again in this area; maybe in yours too? Caution is not a bad thing, anyway.
yeah I noticed that the other day....well it was at the top of my list of first things to do when we were allowed to go out in public again...JK!!!

@Heart2Soul I know! :) ppl are obviously thinking a lot more about groceries, malls, work, visiting friends and family.....etc.

I was telling ppl, recently I saw a notice in a tattoo parlor window: "You need a tattoo". Well, they would say that, wouldn't they?

Are your daughters maybe following the progress of tattoo parlors opening up more than you would be?

What is it with you and the tattoos? LoL.

Don't take it too far. One day you could wake up with one that looks like this:

Look at the prices!

Was that one expensive meal or what?

Probably won't even be able to make it out in 30 years. Skin becomes thinner when we age and it skews the best of tattoos. To me, tattoos are worldly. I do not see it as sin, per say but...any "worldly" trends are just that, worldly.
Are we not to be our own witnesses? Don't we depend on the Holy Spirit to open our eyes and to recognize the doors He opens to all good works that He already planned before hand? Do we really "need" to use tattoos for this? I don't think so.

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10.
So then, should we not simply be open to all He has given us opportunity to respond to what He has already ordained in our lives?? My goodness...how did the Word of God EVER spread before tattoos??

Creeping worldliness is what it has been named. Being in the world, does not condemn a believer in God, but following worldly ways is how many are distracted from what should always be their first love. A tatoo may not always lead a person astray, but to me it has the appearance of a 'good witch', which is hardly something new: The Wizard of Oz [1939], Bewitched [from 1964], and The Good Witch [from 2015]. The first two were mild, but perhaps softening us up for what was to come? I've never seen the third one, but with the zombies and vampires of today, what might we expect? Was the woman with a familiar spirit at Endor also a 'good' witch? Is it OK to knowingly defile God's workmanship in order to attract people to God?

"And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:" II Thess 2:10-11

What is the Truth we are to love? A tatoo depicting the face of Jesus or an imprinted verse of scripture? And following the Holy Spirit is where in this?

LoL!

Not to mention, what if he ever wanted to switch allegiances to Burger King some day? He'd probably have to take to wearing long sleeve shirts.

@Nancy

I wholeheartedly agree! We don't need to.

A lot do, though.

I got my first and only tattoo when I was 25. I was told it was addictive, but for me it was not. .. Probably 75% of the congregation have tattoos, including myself and the Pastor! So we don't look down on it, nor do we celebrate it...

Ahaha...long sleeves in summer is not fun  They just should have kept the "Lick-em Stick-em's as, they're not permanent so, if one gets tattoo remorse, they can just wash it off, haha! Or, why not just a henna? They only last for up to 3 weeks :)

I dunno John, seems The Holy Spirit get's put on a shelf as, seems many Christians have forgotten the Power of God. SMH.

@Nancy Well, this is what happens at local supermarkets, regularly like clockwork:

During the long winter months the check-out staff wear long sleeves.

Suddenly in May the short sleeves appear...thus showing they have tattoos.

Then, like clockwork in October, the tattoos get tucked under the long sleeves again...

Or have never known the Power of God often because what some man has taught... or failed to teach. All of the other things, such as tatoos, should be side issues scarcely worth mentioning, but when they are brought to the fore instead of what God considers the first things, the result too often is that people either never look at Jesus or like Peter walking on the water take their eyes off of Him!

@amadeus We must indeed turn our eyes upon the Lord Jesus, as the hymn says, 'and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace'. (Hebrews 12.2)

Why are tattoos sinful? Please don't quote the old testament verse that comes after this one:
27 “‘Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.

Especially if you have ever gotten a haircut.

@Renniks It's a question of Old Testament Jews in the land under the law, being distinct from New Testament Christians under grace, sometimes pursuing witness tools.

(Did you see/vote in the poll, above? :) )
