Forgiveness is true love because in forgiving we not only give up the claims we have over our offenders but also sacrifice our own interest in the process of bringing healing to our offenders. In God we see the fullness of forgiving love. Although God is the king of Universe and infinite in power, He humbled Himself to become a mere human being in the person of Jesus. In doing this He surrendered His will by subjecting Himself to human conditions of a sinful world. Furthermore, although we offered Him no love, betrayed Him, were unfaithful to Him and hurt Him by our sins, He sacrificed His life while suffering the most brutal torture, in order to free us from sin. In other words, He the victim compensated for the hurt we caused Him by sacrificing His own life. In doing this He stayed faithful to His covenant and showed us what true love is. If we want to truly follow Him we must love one another the way He loved us (John 15:12).

...but also sacrifice our own interest in the process of bringing healing to our offenders.

This is a very high statement above.

I must say I resonated with it as to why I forgive others ---I put myself aside so they can move on and grow. It frees them.

This is, indeed, a very profound insight above.

i sure would like to hear some of the things you have forgiven...what you could afford..so that you never had hate ripe your self apart...i have found 10 then 100 then 1000 then 10000 thwn 100000 then more ..then there is pain caused by someone then there is some one getts killed then there is complete loss so how far have you gone how did you grow ,easy is easy...till me if its a frame of mind ..no attachment to any earthy thing or life...

Just read something on this must be thespirit talking :)

PERFECT LOVE

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear has torment. He who fears is not made perfect in love" (I John 4:18).

What a beautiful phrase we find in this verse, "perfect love."

Think of it! What inestimable value such a love would be.

Where could such a love as this be found? There is only one source: our Father. God perfectly loves His creation. He cannot unlove us; for His is divine love, a love that will never fail (I Corinthians 3:8). He is a God Who cannot not just merely love us; because love is Who He is!

"God is love" (I John 4:8, 16).

The love of God can be seen wonderfully manifested through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. He loved ordinary people just where they were. He loved fishermen, harlots and tax collectors. He even loved those who constantly put their feet in their mouths, fell asleep on the job, and denied Him.

How amazing is such "perfect love!" Come to know this great divine love and the result will be that "perfect love casts out fear."

"The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalms 27:1).
