Blessings in Christ Jesus! Perhaps a little light can be shared on this subject. Back when I was at work there used to be this young girl who was constantly getting herself into trouble. She always liked to talk to me because I would give her the word she needed. I knew what her problem was from the gift of discerment of spirits. In other words she had a visitor that was causing havoc in her life. Finally one day I explained it all to her, and she knew that it was true. I told her that she had two choices but that I prefered the second choice over the first. I told her that I could cast that demon out right now(which made her very nervous) or that today she could be saved. I told her that if I cast that out of her that it would have to leave but that her problems would probably return and become much worse. I then explained if this day she came to The Lord that when He entered in, that He would never leave her nor forsake her, and that nothing unclean would(could) ever enter her again. I then explained that The Lord is Holy and when he enters in, anything unclean flees before Him never to enter again. This is the case for those that are truly born from above. They are His and He is theirs. On these boards there are two sides on this issue but only one is true. Long, very long ago, I viewed it on the wrong side as some in here do to this day. And then The Lord in His great mercy weaned me from the milk(turned the page from old to new)(from old wine to new) and gave me eyes to see and ears to hear. The key word in the above scriptures is "empty". We who are truly in Christ Jesus are not empty but filled with The Holy Spirit. And because of this truth we will finish the race, we may lose some rewards, but we will win as Victory is in the right hand of The Lord. As for the young girl, she still has a visitor but she is attending church on a regular basis. Perhaps another will water what was sowed in her heart. I know that The Lord always finishes what He starts. So we have two sides, one side stands outside the walls of the great city, and one side stands within the walls of the great city. Those that stand within the walls are One with The King of the great city and share in common all that He has. Those that stand outside can read about The Great King but understanding of Him only comes by entering in The City. The Door to The Great City has been drawing all men to it for years but how many are truly willing to lay down their life(forsake it all) to enter by narrow gate(door). I write these words today not to offend you amadeus, for I find some wisdom in your writings, but I write these words because of the one side of this issue, the ones standing outside, will soon be caught unaware. If they can not discern the nature of a Loving Father, how can they discern the times.
No, I am not offended but neither can I accept what you wrote on this... nor am I inclined to enter into a debate against something you believe. I thank you for sharing this and for your good intentions. May God richly bless you as you listen to and obey His voice.

Each day I follow my Lord seeking ever His face in a closer walk with Him. Sometimes He increases me according to His will.

Give God the glory!

These Gentile believers obviously believed, received the gift of the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues (which is a spiritual gift that is only for the body of Christ - 1 Corinthians 12) and were clearly saved BEFORE water baptism.
It is simply amazing to see that in spite of clear Scriptures regarding the order of events, people continue to persist in their errors and false beliefs. As though they have not even seen the Scriptures.

You are absolutely right and there is a reason why such people are unable to see anything beyond their errors and false beliefs. :(

If God said we can have assurance, then why do some say we cannot? If we didn't have assurance of our salvation, we'd be in doubt all the time, no certainty. And, our minds, heart, and conscience's would be tormented continually.

So, can we or can we not rest in Him once and for all?? Have that "peace that surpasses all understanding"? Not being sure that He loves us and will never leave us or forsake us is not a peaceful existence. It's bad enough that we allow our own doubts to creep in, but satan is always whispering doubts in our ears as well.

Because that is PURE UNBELIEF. These deluded people think that their salvation depends on themselves, even though God says that "Salvation is of the LORD".

Indeed Christ Himself is our salvation, therefore when Simeon (in the temple) saw the Christ-child, he said "Mine eyes have seen thy Salvation (YAH-SHUA).

And he [Simeon] came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy Salvation...(Lk 2:27-30).

That word "salvation" should have been capitalized by the translators, since it was a direct reference to Christ. Indeed, the Hebrew name of Jesus is Yeshua, which is a derivative of YAH-SHUA which means GOD [IS] OUR SALVATION.

As a fairly new Christian He said to me, "You are mine, from the day you were born again in me I have held you tight in my might hand, you will no longer be just a grain of sand."
And then many years later he said, "I have made you into a pearl."
Hence my name.

Yes, agreed Enoch, He IS our Salvation and He only gives us Life. We have Christ-Life.
Isaiah 12:2
"Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the LORD GOD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation."

Also, if we "cannot" have assurance as some say then how can one ever "Be still and know..." that He is God? Can't be done IMHO. :)

what do you consider the baptism of the Holy Ghost ?

....because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.....

The good 'ol fashioned way.

Is it possible to know for certain that you know God? That you've received eternal life?

Can you really know?

1 John 5
10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Much love!
Absolutely otherwise the promise of eternal life is a lie.

It declares we can KNOW we have eternal life, not guess we have it or hope we have it but KNOW we have it.

what do we do with this scripture
1 Corinthians 12:13“For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.”
it says nothing about tongues/ other languages

I was both saved and baptised in the Holy Spirit BEFORE I was baptised.

In the past, I had doubts. Someone once told me that if I ever had doubts about my salvation, turn my gaze outward. That is, go out and help someone. Join a church charity, feed the hungry, help a fellow believer move, cut your neighbor's grass, give water to an elderly person who can no longer reach the sink.

Sure fire cure's...and not burdensome! Looking inward can do much damage if ya don't get a handle on the thoughts  I kind of think doubts go with the territory along with all the other temptations before us. God won't lead us there...but we sure can if we do not look for His "way out".

Blessings in Christ Jesus! You are correct in saying that you can not except what was written, for this is the second time you have said this. Your 10 years of wandering is to The Lord as far as the east is to the west, He remembers it no more. Why can not you accept that. Why can not you accept that He will never leave you nor forsake you. Why can not you accept that it is He who sustains you and upholds you with His victorious right hand. It is up to you to decide where you stand, but now you have heard the words, you can choose to reject them or accept them. By now, perhaps you can see that I have not come to debate, but to gather. Perhaps, what you call dead, will awaken your heart, to understand The Fathers unconditional Love for His children.Perhaps, the time of this increase has come!

My 10 years of wandering ended 18 years ago. There are many reasons why I wandered for those years and God knows them all. He has shared many, if not most or all, of them with me.

Please don't insist on pursuing some kind of a debate with me. You are effectively questioning my testimony much of which has already been shared on this forum over the years. I have been here since 2008.

If you don't see me seeing what you see or walking exactly where you walk with God, consider that there are many parts of the Body of Christ. Do not presume that you know all that the Head knows about each part. We don't even know all there is know about our own selves. The Head knows what needs to be known to lead us. God has been first in my life for many years and I hear His voice as one of His sheep.

Give God the glory!

well, but salvation from what?
assurance of what?

without getting into it, imo test what you are being told you have salvation from, and assurance of...and if they are singing When We All Get to Heaven well then there ya go eh
