Some perhaps already have an idea as to where I am on this in the moment. I may allow a few to post before I get my feet wet...

As an aside:
These days this old body chills easily. I sit here at my computer typing and my fingers sometimes get so cold they hurt. I have to stop and massage them to get the circulation and hopefully the warmth back into them

It is summer here in Oklahoma, even this thus far mild summer, but my wife has to have the AC going so as not to overheat. [opposites attract...LOL]. I, on the other hand, usually have to put on a light jacket or sweater to avoid the chill of that same AC. Help us Lord...

And now back to the OP at hand with regard to "saved"!

Salvation
NT:4990

NT:4990 ‎/‎soter (so-tare'); from NT:4982; a deliverer, i.e. God or Christ:

KJV - saviour.

NT:4991 / ‎soteria (so-tay-ree'-ah); feminine of a derivative of NT:4990 as (properly, abstract) noun; rescue or safety (physically or morally):

KJV - deliver, health, salvation, save, saving.

NT:4982

NT:4982 ‎ ‎sozo (sode'-zo); from a primary sos (contraction for obsolete saoz, "safe"); to save, i.e. deliver or protect (literally or figuratively):
KJV - heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole.

Psalm 62:1 declares that " Salvation is of the LORD "

Luke 19:5-10
5
And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.
6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, for so much as he also is a son of Abraham.
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

To save- it means to deliver out of danger

Salvation- refers to the activity which produces the state of safety

Savior- is reserved for the one who saves.

We sometimes talk about saving things but Jesus only used the word in with man whom He saved.

Luke 19:9- This is the only time Jesus used the word salvation and that was with Zacchaeus. Christ’s purpose was one of seeking and saving the lost. Zacchaeus was a rich tax collector who was looked down upon for his livelihood. He was despised by those around him. When Jesus approached him and Zacchaeus looked up at Him , Jesus asked him to use his house and Zacchaeus gladly came down and received Him. When they went into the house the multitude murmured and within a short visit Zacchaeus was repentant of his ill gains which was evidence of his new found faith in the Savior. Salvation is the power that takes hold of a person and remakes him.

Here are some verses that Jesus used the word save.

Luke 6:9- Jesus restored the withered hand
Luke 8:48- Jesus healed the woman with the issue of blood
Luke 8:50- Jesus raised Jairus daughter from the dead
Luke 17:19- Jesus cleansed the lepers
Luke 18:42- Jesus healed the blind

So as we can see to save means to completely remove those destructive forces. To restore all that had been lost. Salvation in the teaching of Jesus is the complete change from one condition to its opposite. Jesus confronted man with the reality of sin. The religious people of his day hated Him without a cause because they loved their sin. Jesus taught us to “repent toward God”(Matt 4:17) To believe in Me (John 6:28,29) and “test Me”, will to do My will. ( John 7:17)

Eternal life is to know Christ ( John 17:3) Jesus said you are my disciples if you abide in Me. ( John 8:31,32) Apart from Him I can do nothing.(John 15:5)

Faith is a conviction of the mind that Christ is God. Jesus said unless you believe that “ I AM” you will die in your sins.(John 8:24) Read the whole chapter. Paul declared one must confess Jesus is Lord(YHWH) to be saved and those who call upon Him will be delivered(Joel 2:32). Secondly it is a voluntary surrender to Him as Lord or Master of your life. By faith our mind trusts in God, our heart responds to His love and our will submits to the commands of God. Our life yields to obedience in our service to Him. Faith goes beyond reason, it believes without understanding why. ( Heb 11:1) Faith chooses to endure ill treatment (Heb 11:25) Faith accepts all things as a part of God will, Paul’s imprisonment.( Phil1:12) You are not born with faith, it comes from hearing Gods word(Rom 10:17) You cannot be saved without faith.(John 3:36) No peace with God without faith.(Rom 5:1) You are justified by faith(Gal 2:16) Christ dwells in our hearts by faith (Eph 3:17) The Spirit is received by faith (Gal 3:2) And finally Jesus alone is the author and finisher of our faith.(Heb 12:2)

You see salvation is all Christ’s doing as well as our faith. There is nothing we can actually do to be saved other that keeping our eyes on Him and trusting in Him alone. Salvation and saving faith is 100% Gods work and our part is to trust in His finished work on the cross. As the old hymn says nothing but the blood of Jesus. This is the gospel Paul preached by which we are saved,

1 Cor 15:1-9,14
Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; 7 then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; 8 and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also. 14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.

hope this helps,

I see salvation as simply healing broken relationships. The Lord's primary vocation is as a creator. His essence is Love. But at present we have a contingency of disease called "sin" which requires a quarantine, so to speak. So God became a doctor/scientist, Who deployed His Son into the quarantine area with the antidote to sin--offering up His own life which was in His blood. Soon the antidote will have been fully effective and the quarantine will be lifted and all relationships will be permanently healed. So salvation is more about the savior than the saved.

Prayers for healing of relationships, in my experience, are the prayers that God is most likely to answer positively and quickly, probably because God is love.

The sense is brought out in 1 Thessalonians 1.9b-10:

"...ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come."

For me, "saved" means your life was going down a dark hole,
descending to the place where there were no true friends,
there was no real purpose,
and you had no real value in life.
And then someone reached down where you were and pulled you out,
back into the sunshine,
where you realized there was still plenty of beauty in the world,
plenty to love,
and plenty to be hopeful for;
that there was still a God in Heaven,
and a Holy Spirit on earth,
and a purpose greater than any other worth living for.

it is a good question. To me it goes along with what you brought up in another thread regarding chaff and Fire, and what is not burned and consumed but remains. even the every man a liar but let God be true. For all falsehood to be burned and consumed and God remain.

ha well (imo) Good News! We have discovered that if one replaces all of the living oil that "food" manufacturers must remove in order to obtain shelf-life, omega3, many if not most physical complaints and symptoms just clear up on their own. Three Aussie Bites a day for a year would have amazing effect there imo. You'll notice a diff in the viscosity of your blood in a week or two i guess

Jesus came "to save that which was lost". What was lost? How about Life? But Jesus also had that in mind, did He not?

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

Jesus brought Salvation and Life. What is required for a person to receive what Jesus brought? If a person were to lay hold of one or both, how long would this salvation and/or life last?

Yes, a sifting and burning process as we are walking along with Jesus allowing the work of the Holy Ghost within to quicken us and the Fire of God to burn the chaff all up. Of course if we are consuming chaff faster than it is being burned and/or being replaced with the good things of God... we are at least in trouble.

"I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire." Matt 3:11-12

Are we consuming mammon or God... or are we trying to consume them both in order to retain/obtain the best of both worlds: The world of the old man and the world of the new man?

Thank you my friend! My little complaints are really very little ones and relate mostly to this old dying flesh. Should we strive to keep it going healthier and stronger? Absolutely! [Is that one of those ATs (Absolute Truths)?]. Are we not to be good stewards of those things, which God has placed in our care? Help us dear Lord!

And so do we not have a course to complete here in good order so as to have this Life continued indefinitely?

"And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved." Matt 10:22

To the end of what?

until the breath of life expires, ie- you are physically dead.

Also in my initial post it was loaded with scripture regarding salvation, its meaning and the context in which salvation is spoken of by our Savior.

When someone is on their deathbed, and begins to perceive that Hell is
more than just a silly myth, and that they're likely to end up there: they
don't need religion, no, they need a knight in shining armor, so to speak,
and it just so happens there's a God-given knight available.

Luke 2:8-12 . .And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to
them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

. . . But the angel said to them; "Don't be afraid. I bring you good news of
great joy that will be for all the people. Today, in the town of David, a savior
has been born to you; he is Messiah, the Lord."

The angel announced the birth of a savior; defined by Webster's as one who
rescues. We've all seen examples-- lifeguards, firemen, cops, emergency
medical teams, Coast Guard units, snow patrols, and mountain rescue
teams. Rescue workers typically assist people in distress who are facing
imminent death and/or grave danger and utterly helpless to do anything
about it.

In other words: Jesus Christ is a lifeline, so to speak, that God is all set to
throw to anyone and everyone for whom the sum of all fears is a foregone
conclusion.

John 3:14-17 . . As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so
must the Son of Man be lifted up; that whoever believes may in him have
eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son,
that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

The incident to which Christ referred is located at Num 21:5-9. Long story
short: Moses' people became weary of eating manna all the time at every
meal. But instead of courteously, and diplomatically, petitioning their divine
benefactor for a different diet, they became hostile and confrontational;
angrily demanding tastier food.

In response to their insolence, and their ingratitude for His providence; God
sent a swarm of deadly poisonous vipers among them; which began striking
people; and every strike was 100% fatal, no exceptions.

After a number of people died, the rest came to their senses and begged
Moses to intercede. In reply; The Lord instructed Moses to cobble a replica of
the vipers and hoist it up on a pole in plain view so that everyone dying from
snakebite could look to it for relief.

The key issue here is that the replica was the only God-given remedy for the
people's bites-- not sacrifices and offerings, not tithing, not church
attendance, not scapulars, not confession, not holy days of obligation, not
the Sabbath, not the golden rule, not charity, not Bible study and/or Sunday
school, not self denial, not vows of poverty, not the Ten Commandments,
not one's religion of choice, no; not even prayers. The replica was it; nothing
else would suffice to save their lives.

As an allegory, Moses' replica indicates that Christ's crucifixion for the sins of
the world is the only God-given rescue from the wrath of God; and when
people accept it, then according to John 3:14-17 and John 5:24, they qualify
for safety. Those who reject his crucifixion as the only God-given rescue
from a fate worse than death, are already on the docket to face it.

John 3:18 . .Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does
not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the
name of God's one and only Son.

» His son's "name" in this case is relative to Moses and the deadly snakes.

A quarantine will heal us? What we need is the Life, which was lost. Adam and Eve had Life before they disobeyed God. How may we today 1st: receive Life again and 2nd: be certain that we will retain it until and beyond the end of our course [the time allotted to us by God]? Jesus made it a possibility by his sacrifice. He opened the Door, but dead and/or unclean or even clean beasts will not be allowed to enter in... We must cleaned up and cleaned out and filled up with "good" things or we'll never make it. Has God not supplied all that we need including additional help if we sincerely ask for it?

How is it that we have turned from idols if and when we are still looking to anything, even some of the time, before we look to God? Think of money, cars, homes, doctors, medicines, clothes, our own glory, etc.! What do we suppose it is that God expects us to overcome? Jesus overcame and opened the Way for us to overcome... but we have something to do and perhaps an important or even the most important part of it is to surrender. Do we have the power now to surrender completely to God? All that we need to do that has been supplied... but too many people won't let go of their idols in order to allow it to be done even by God.

Saved, which means what?
This is a biblical term which can only be understood when people understand the true and full Gospel of God (which is also the Gospel of Christ) as revealed in the Holy Bible.

DELIVERANCE
A. "Saved" literally means "delivered". So those who are saved are delivered by God in three ways:
1. From the penalty of sin -- eternal Hell (the Lake of Fire).
2. From the power of sin -- the Holy Spirit makes the saints holy and righteous while on earth. They can be overcomers through the power of the Holy Spirit.
3. From the presence of sin -- God and Christ eradicate the old sin nature completely and transform, perfect, and glorify the saints at the Resurrection/Rapture.

ALL SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS IN CHRIST
B. But salvation is far more than simply deliverance. It includes all the blessings which God bestows on His children through Christ including the gift of eternal life, the gift of the Holy Spirit, the gift of Christ Himself, and a whole multitude of blessings which are all spelled out in Scripture.

ETERNAL FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD AND CHRIST
C. In addition to all these blessings God has an eternal plan and purpose for the Church. All the saints will live and reign with Christ eternally, and also have eternal fellowship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This will include genuine worship in Heaven around the throne of God.

What many Christians fail to understand is that God Himself is our Salvation. Christ Himself is our Salvation, since He is the Resurrection, the Life, the Way, the Truth, and many other things.
