John 9:11-15 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight. [12] Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not. [13] They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind. [14] And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. [15] Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.

Romans 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

John 9:2-3 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? [3] Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

Isaiah 29:16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

‘A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes,...’ We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of the clay. ‘For has not the potter power over the clay?’

@VictoryinJesus Shows how it is blessed to bow humbly and be content to be in the hands of a gracious God, rather than engage in defiant talk of rights, etc.

shared it with someone yesterday and they just stared at me and said, it doesn’t really make sense. Get he speaks to us all in different ways. considering Jesus Christ made clay to put on the blind mans eyes ...for the first time my focus wasn’t on the clay but on the hands the clay was in. It gave me energy for the rest of the day, as your thread about what we set our thoughts on. especially when the troubles start coming in. For the first time it wasn’t about whether the clay had some magical healing power but instead on the potter who has power over the clay.

@VictoryinJesus Reminds me also of 2 Samuel 24.14: "And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the Lord; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man."

Words by Adelaide Potter, 1906

1 Have thine own way, Lord!
Have thine own way!
Thou art the potter,
I am the clay.
Mold me and make me
after thy will,
while I am waiting,
yielded and still.

2 Have thine own way, Lord!
Have thine own way!
Search me and try me,
Savior today!
Wash me just now, Lord,
wash me just now,
as in thy presence
humbly I bow.

3 Have thine own way, Lord!
Have thine own way!
Wounded and weary,
help me I pray!
Power, all power,
surely is thine!
Touch me and heal me,
Savior divine!

4 Have thine own way, Lord!
Have thine own way!
Hold o'er my being
absolute sway.
Fill with thy Spirit
till all shall see
Christ only, always,
living in me!

Have Thine Own Way, Lord
