WITH MY CHARACTER

By Gary C. Michael Nov. 28, 2001

WITH MY CURRENT CHARACTER, WHAT WOULD I DO TO

MESS UP HEAVEN?

IF GOD WERE TO TAKE ME JUST AS I AM?

IN MY CURRENT STATE WHAT WOULD I DO

TO MAKE HEAVEN UNDESIRABLE TOO?

EARTH IS NO PLACE WHERE I WOULD WANT TO STAY

MAN IS GETTING WORSE EVERY SINGLE DAY

BUT WHAT KIND OF THOUGHTS WOULD I CARRY ABOVE?

WOULD I CONTRIBUTE TO HEAVENLY LOVE?

IF GOD WOULD LET ME IN JUST AS I AM

WOULD I BE WILLING TO FOLLOW THE LAMB?

IF I ENTERED HEAVEN IN MY CURRENT STATE

WOULD I BE THE ONE TO REINTRODUCE HATE?

REBELLION IS COMMON ON THE EARTH TODAY

WOULD I INSIST ON DOING THINGS MY WAY?

IF GOD WERE TO TAKE ME JUST AS I AM

WOULD I MESS UP HEAVEN OR FOLLOW THE LAMB?

WITH CUSTOMS OF THIS WORLD THAT I DON'T WANT TO LOOSE

WOULD I GET TO HEAVEN AND FEEL A RIGHT TO CHOSE?

WOULD REBELLION START ALL OVER AGIN’

BECAUSE I WASN'T CONVERTED AND GOD LET ME IN?

JESUS IS CALLING ME JUST AS I AM

HE MUST CHANGE MY CHARACTER TO MIRROR THE LAMB

SOMETIMES IT'S UNCOMFORTABLE TO GIVE UP SIN

OR TO CUT TIES WITH OUR CLOSEST FRIEND

SOME PEOPLE FEEL BAD IF THEY ARE NOT LIKE THE CROWD

TO NOT STAND OUT MAKES THEM FEEL PROUD

TO LIFT GOD'S STANDARDS MAKES THEM FEEL LIKE A SQUARE

WOULD GOD TAKE THEM TO HEAVEN? HE WOULDN'T DARE

I have some verses for you Gary. Malachi 3:5 and Malachi 3:6

Change is dangerous if your changing for man and can lead to a path of spiritual distruction. If God changes you this is good but God himself never changes.

God bless :)

I like the poem...

the story of Akin's sin and the story of Annanias and Saphira are definitely in my mind because of this poem.

In both cases they introduced sin...in both cases they "took" something that wasn't theirs...something devoted and belonging to God..the same thing that Adam and Eve did.

But

We are to be transformed....in the twinkling of an eye...to something imperishable. I believe that our desire for sin is going to be stripped from us somehow...and the person that is left is what is going to reside in heaven. No corruption can exist in God's presence...even with Jesus' covering. That covering is what keeps the entirety of our being from being completely destroyed.
