I have seen mention of hail and questions about it's meaning on various forums for the past week or so. It seems more than one are questioning exactly what is being said. So far....no answers until today. As always, His answers are in His Word......

I wondered....are "hailstones" literal hailstones or are they symbolic of something? Was the historic event of hailstones in Joshua telling us of literal hailstones and if yes....was it a type for the future spiritual hailstones?

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

My answer was found in.....

Ezekiel 13:2-4 Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.

As you know, Israel consists of twelve tribes...but Israel is not just the Jews, who are the house of Judah. The other ten tribes are the house of Israel. They are Israelite but not Jewish. They are those Christ was sent to and....He found us. We carry His name.

They/we are Christian and we have "foolish prophets" speaking to us out of "their own hearts," and of "their own spirit." They don't hear, see or speak...The WORD OF THE LORD. You see them on television, at some pulpits, on forums....for "wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together."[Matthew 24:28] The carcase being....the spiritually dead bodies of God's children they are misleading.

13:6-7 They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word. Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The LORD saith it; albeit I have not spoken?

13:9-11 And Mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of My people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD. Because, even because they have seduced My people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter: Say unto them which daub it with untempered morter, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall rend it.

13:13-15 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even rend it with a stormy wind in My fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in Mine anger, and great hailstones in My fury to consume it. So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with untempered morter, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I am the LORD. Thus will I accomplish My wrath upon the wall, and upon them that have daubed it with untempered morter, and will say unto you, The wall is no more, neither they that daubed it;

The "hailstones" are the false prophets, false teachers, and world leaders that guide God's children to their destruction. They are part of His great army He sends to prove us. Will we listen to them or to our Father?

Deuteronomy 13:3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Knowing that makes it easier for me to understand.....

Revelation 8:7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in His temple the ark of His testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

16:21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.

They don't blaspheme God because hail, a great hunk of ice, is falling on them but because of what the great hail is teaching them to believe. They are learning lies which causes them to blaspheme God without even knowing it. The great hail (great lying false prophets) mingle God's Word (fire) with blood. "For the life of the flesh is in the blood." [Leviticus 17:11] And we know that...."flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God." [1 Corinthians 15:50]

Satan succeeds in slaying the souls of men by deceiving them into committing blasphemy.

Luke 12:10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.

The false prophets of Israel, our brethren, are laying the groundwork now but soon, if not already, the "great hail," which I believe will happen during the "great tribulation" will begin/has begun?

Revelation 12:7-9 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not, neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Satan and his fallen angels are....the "great hail out of heaven."

If this is the case, what is the point in mentioning the weight ( Revelation 16:21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.) of the hailstones.... I take the bible literally and I believe it will be just that... hailstones.

Whirl, the problem I have with the idea of it being false prophets is that this takes place under the 7th vial/bowl. The weight puts these hailstones at ~115 to ~130 lbs. and curiously, they are measured by a standard that currency (silver and gold) would have been measured at. We know from the number of the beast that 666, so these false prophets are showing up after the fact and when the Lord returns. Sure they will be in power upon Earth at that instant, but prior to this statement, we have the voice crying:

Revelation 16:17
The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, "It is done!"

As a subsequent verse affirms, we're now at the point of his wrath (the cup). His wrath is not false prophets but is instead perdition. You're dealing with the fire and the cup after the 7th bowl.

I see them as false prophets because He tells us.....

Ezekiel 13:9-11 And Mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of My people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD. The verses are about the false prophets that seduce His people. The "great hailstones" are the "ye" that "shall fall," because of that seduction. So....are the the great hailstones not the false prophets?

I'm not certain what you're saying with the timing aspect. But, I will mention something I found so interesting. I always saw the trumps coming in order...one following another but then I saw....

Revelation 10:7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as He hath declared to His servants the prophets.

From that it appears to me that the seventh trump overlaps the sixth. I see the "days of" that sounding as being the 1,260 days (now shortened). So when he "pours his bowl into the air" and "it is done," does that mean everything stops or that it was the last thing to be done to begin the countdown. If he poured his vial at the beginning of the sounding, the "beginning of the days of the voice," then he released Satan and his fallen angels...the great hail....and that is "the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath," given to Babylon.

I'm not sure about the weight business.

As a subsequent verse affirms, we're now at the point of his wrath (the cup). His wrath is not false prophets but is instead perdition. You're dealing with the fire and the cup after the 7th bowl.

What if His wrath is the strong delusion and that strong delusion is contained in the great hailstones?

11 Thessalonians 2:10-12 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
