John 12:32-33 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me." This He said, signifying what death He should die.

That is an odd verse to me. Was there a question on His being "lifted up" and if not then why is it written..."if I be lifted up?"

Where it is written, "draw all (men) unto Me"....the all refers to...."All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me; and him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do Mine own will, but the will of Him That sent Me. And this is the Father's will Which hath sent Me, that of all which He hath given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of Him That sent Me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day." [John 6:37-40]

I love that! He will "raise it up AGAIN," the "it" referring to His elect, His man child, for He foreknew them. They were with Him and they will again be with Him for they are already "justified and glorified." [Romans 8:28-30] He will also "raise him up" that sees and believes on Him...they were not His elect but are those of free will.

12:34 The people answered Him, "We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest Thou 'The Son of man must be lifted up?' who is this Son of man?"

"Who is THIS Son of man?" There is only One Messiah so why stipulate "this" one, "this Son of man?"

12:36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light." These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide Himself from them.

Why did He hide Himself from them? Because...."though He had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on Him: [12:37]

The children of light are...."this son of man" that must be "lifted up." It is not that we must be "lifted up" on a literal cross as was He but we must be spiritually crucified....

Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto His disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.

5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

He abideth for ever in them and they in Him. From us/them He is not hidden for we are His children of light, His man child, His elect....His servants.....

12:23-26 And Jesus answered them, saying, "The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there shall also My servant be: if any man serve Me, him will My Father honour.

We spiritually crucify our flesh, our carnal nature...we take up our cross and follow Him. We are His servants...As we are the sons of man and sons of God are we also "the branch?"

Zechariah 3:8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth My servant the BRANCH.

Branch ~ The use of the large capitals by the translators of the A.V. is destitute of any authority, and merely indicates the importance which they attached to such words and phrases thus indicated. ~ Bullinger

So, is "My servant the branch," the Messiah each time it is used or does it here refer to His elect, His man child, who are His servants that He brings forth?

4:11-14 Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof? And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?

The two branches are His servants, the many "two" witnesses that the Holy Spirit teaches for that is the golden oil they receive and speak.
