I was just wondering (especially since it's getting closer to October) what do you guys think about the three H's that I'm into? They are Harry Potter, Halloween, and horror movies.

Hard to translate into French with three Hs... :) (if you go north to Quebec from New York...)

Hello, April Rose. Personally, I have never watched a Harry Potter movie, I no longer find horror movies interesting (I used to love them as a child), and Halloween has become a necessary chore to prepare for. I do enjoy little children coming to my door - they can be very cute. You could just as easily have asked: what do we think of Ozzy Osbourne, Star Trek and Valentine's Day. Your question raises the issue of trivial and meaningless interests. The three you mention are meaningless and empty, as are the three I mentioned. However, "all is vanity, and chasing after the wind." Nevertheless, almost all of us engage in these meaningless interests. That does not make us bad people. I exercise a lot; that is meaningless and I know it. But, it doesn't make me bad and it is not a sin. The interests you mention are not sins. Most interests are no better or worse than another interest. Stamp collecting, which I find boring, may be very interesting to another person. It is not I who must find interest in another's pastimes, it is the stamp collector who finds passion in the stamps. If someone finds Harry Potter an interesting pastime - I support their choices.

Remember too that for stamp collecting you do need to have reasonably good eyesight... Some ppl have spent a lot of time and money on stamp collections over the years and then they can see the small details nearly as clearly as they once did.

I am reminded of Hebrews 12.2, to keep looking to the Lord as to our real priorities.

Apply a fourth H to them -- "I HATE garbage".
What are your interests and pastimes, Enoch? Will you be honest? Give us a chance to judge your interests.
Your handle - Enoch. You fancy yourself a patriarch? "Pride goeth before the fall." Before you judge others, maybe you should look at yourself.

Greetings in Christ, April Rose.

I used to go on horror flick binges; the ones involving demonic possession, such as The Conjuring, or The Possession, or The Exorcism Of Emily Rose, since all are based to different extents on actual events.

Never was a Harry Potter fan, although I have always suspected it may be a fanciful romanticizing of actual schools of magic that are kept hidden from the public and located throughout the world.

Not big on Halloween either, I'm afraid. I believe Satanism conducts certain ceremonies during that season, so I'm never wild about seeing it come around every year. But I know not everyone has those things in mind when they think of Halloween.

I'm not into horror movies or Halloween, but I watch Harry Potter since it's really not witchcraft, it's just make believe fun. A story teller and not someone trying to push some false belief or allegiance to the devil. The stories in Harry Potter teach against murder and evil, which is a new take for a Wizard and Witch movie series.

I often wonder if we even know what biblical witchcraft and wizardry were. Maybe they are not what we think they are in this day and age.

I also watch "The Covenant".

As for Harry potter, I've seen most of them and was not very impressed. When I was a kid I used to enjoy showing off a costume at Halloween. As for horror films, I don't want to invite in demons. So I prefer not to watch them. As I age I have less desire for thrills.

I am simply judging garbage for what it is: Halloween, Harry Potter, and horror movies are essentially Satanic garbage. Christians should avoid them like the plague.
But some might say , oh those movies are harmless and cute and for the kiddos .
That is exactly how satan presents lies . Makes it seem all harmless , when in truth , oh no its not .
Do we really think satan is gonna present helloween as dangerous , or witchcraft movies as dangerous .
No , he always presents it as something harmless , even good . how many folks today
now believe there is such a thing as good witches and evil witches . exactly . WHEN in truth no witchcraft is good at all .
Satan is and has been always a presenter of lies as being something good .
Notice his work at the tree in the garden . How he made it SEEM as though it was something good , something harmless
something needful . He dont come as the big boogey man . HE comes as the seducer . He will never
make evil seem as evil . He always makes it seem as something harmless , or even good . He allures folks .
He seduces and allures and does so through the flesh , through entertainment that entertains the flesh and emotions of man .
I am gonna tell us something about timothy in the next post . read it slowly and then ask yourselves
how harmless would timothy have thought dressing up as mythical creatures or etc really was .

Many years ago there was a desciple named timothy .
Paul had written to that timothy concering the church of ephesus .
Years later we see timothy mentioned again .
Timothy had went out into the streets to expose a celebration called catagogian .
He rebuked them over this . They beat him so bad he died a few days later of his bruises .
Would anyone care to investigate what catagogian is .
ITS a celebration where folks dress up as their favorite gods in constumes and honor that said day .
DOES that SOUND FAMILIAR .
What timothy died to expose . even churches today , think is cute and harmless . HELLOWEEN folks .
They dressing up as they gods , their super heros , witches and warlocks , fairies and princesses .
And the church thinks it cute and harmless . Timothy did not . And he died for it .
What he exosed way back then , today most folks would have called him a hater and he didnt love .
And the scary thing is , most folks in the churches would have said the same thing about him . Churches have no idea
what they have lost over the many years , through mens traditions and an ever changing approach .
They have no idea what has been lost . men have changed , cause society changes . But doctrine dont . the WORD of GOD dont
the TRUTH dont . It aint harmless . I seen kids that later grew into adults .
And guess what some of they said got them interested in actual witchcraft . HARRY POTTER MOVIES . OH yeah satan knows how to allure and
to decieve and present something as good .

Apply a fourth H to them -- "I HATE garbage".
The fear of God is to depart from evil . To hate the evil way .
I seem to remember what paul wrote to titus . Those who sin , rebuke before all , that others may fear .
Seems to me the early leaders wanted no part of sin and evil within the church .
They had the mentality of , BE YE HOLY , FOR HE IS HOLY . It is written . Peter knew the scriptures .
HE knew God did not condone any kind of particpation in any kind of evil .
The church better get this mindset back and fast . Instead of rebuking those who actually do correct .

I love you all . I only warn outta concern for souls . Because the LOVE of GOD compels me to warn .
Even as paul himself once wrote . THOUGH the more i abundantely i love , the LESS i be loved .
Cause pauls love , JUST as GODS LOVE , comes with correction .
Any love that can leave one in sins error , is no love .
In truth if we can leave a brother or sister in a known error , a known sin , say nothing but allow them to continue in it ,
that is hate .
And ye know he who hates his brother has no eternal life in them . murder as john called it .
So let me quickly show us something to prove this .
Yes , its in the bible .
YE shall not HATE your neighbor in your heart , you shall in any way rebuke , correct him and not allow sin upon HIM .
Please let those who love correct those who are in error .

Indeed, this old stamp collector has a lighted magnifying light as well as a good hand held magnifying glass and still on some of the hard to see markings and perforations I know that I miss the mark. [Pardon my pun, but I just could not resist!]

@April_Rose
On the three H's of the OP I also have never seen a Harry Potter movie so I will withhold comment there. As a child Halloween was always my favorite holiday above even Christmas. Now even my grandchildren are too old to go from door to door. Horror movies? I used to enjoy seeing what they now call classics. I avoid most of them these days as their emphasis is no longer mine. But then again you see I am an old man. While it is not impossible to teach an old dog new tricks... or new interests, it is certainly more difficult.

My weakness is Harry Potter, but I have mixed feelings about it. We don't celebrate Halloween anymore or watch horror movies. I just never felt right about that and makes my anxiety get a bit out ofncontrol. With kids, I am unsure how to make it fun for them. Because there is nothing wrong in dressing up and getting candy. So I was thinking fall festivals were fine, just not on that night.

Me neither, brother.... none of those things interest me. As someone who has seen, and experienced evil firsthand, I'm not a fan of any of satan's "holy days", nor his entertainment. I wish God's people would be willing to see what really happens on halloween and surrounding days.... abductions, rituals, horrific tortures/orgies, and human sacrifice. So yeah, I'm not one to make light of this. It's too serious and people really suffer much evil around halloween (as well as "easter" which goes all the way back to Nimrod/Babel and is named after Ishtar, and Christmas, which is actually an occult ritual date instituted by ... you know who ... the catholic church, and has its roots at Babel as well).
