You have addressed more than once unsolicited question to me in this thread.
You seem fine commenting on and questioning other people's statement, but you don't seem able to support your own.
"Whole new level of dumb" is very Christlike. Thank you for the kind words my Christian brother.
That's one way to not have to support your points.

You're right it wasn't Christ-like. But when I see dumb I have to call it what it is. Unsolicited? Its an internet forum. You can address whoever you like. Oh I see the internet is serious business for you. :D

Oh for goodness sake! I've witnessed a number of people on this forum that haven't been acting very christlike. People please, before attacking and pointing fingers, take a good look at yourselves! Not one of us (including me... so don't attack me for this post) is better than the next. We may have some different beliefs and you know what? We may not know those answers until Christ returns or we go to heaven or whatever comes first. We are all christians here, why can we not treat each other as the brothers and sisters in Christ that we are (regardless of our petty non-salvation issue differences) We ALL fall short of God's glory. We ALL sin. NONE of us is all knowing. Debate is one thing... belittling each other is something else entirely. I know I'm new to this board and if you want to attack me for my statement here... fine. It's between you and God. But this is ridiculous. If an unsaved happens to come across this board, which they will, what kind of witness are we showing them if we can't show christian love even to fellow christians? And you can be sure that nonchristians DO check out christian forums. To be clear this isn't directed to any one of you personally, but to the whole board. Debate is fine, but belittling another should be beneath us. We as christians, although by no means perfect should TRY to live up to a higher standard, especially in our treatment of others. Ok.... I've said my peace. I hope you all don't hold it against me, but I truly felt led that it had to be said.

-- You say that but when someone comments on your posts using that criteria, you call THEM a troll? Priceless.

I am not surprised to hear that you do not take your own comments on the end of times and Christ's return to be "serious business."
So why be surprised when you find that no one else does, either?

Thanks for your input 6Stringed. You've made some excellent points.

You're right 6stringedsignseeker.

And I'm going to make this right. Foreigner, I'm sorry for calling you a troll and calling you dumb. I'll agree to disagree with your previous remarks. I ask for your forgiveness and I hope there are no hard feelings about the tasteless remarks I made. I'm holding up an E-mistletoe, now come give Robster a peck. :D

In case no one has noticed, we are half way through the month of May and quickly running out of Spring.

Either something is going to happen extremely soon, or it is yet another prediction that bites the dust.

To be fair the opening poster did not make any predictions. The statement in the opening posts was:

And It lookes like the season of Damascus has come

"Lookes like the season of Damascus has come", is not. The season of Damascus has come.

If the Opening post had made a firm prediction then we would be justified in stating that it was a false prediction. But no such prediction was made.

thanks... I just hate seeing fellow christians beating each other up over their differences. We all have some beliefs that differ from anothers but most of them aren't salvation issues. This is where the church as a whole is broken, we've all migrated into so many different denominations and offshoots of denominations with so many different doctrines (this is why I prefer simply the title of "christian" and "christian" only)and such we sometimes forget the important things that we all agree on. For instance... I don't think someone who doesn't believe in the rapture is not saved and will not go to heaven... nor do I believe that I, if I'm wrong in believing the rapture, am not saved and will not make it to heaven. We have differences but we all believe that Christ died on the cross so that we as sinners could be saved from Hell and have eternal life. When we let our differences get the best of us and we fight amongst ourselves, all we're doing is giving the devil a great show and he's laughing is evil butt off at us as though we are all fools.... why give him the satisfaction. If we stand together in love despite our differences we're rubbing salt in the wounds of his defeat. I prefer rubbing salt in his wounds. If we're going to sting someone, lets sting the devil real good.... not our brothers and sisters.  ;)

My response was an answer to the question he put forth. To be fair...

I wish some folks would carefully read the Old Testament prediction that Damascus will be destroyed some day. Then take a look at modern day events to see if it could possibly happen soon.

At that point you are partaking in the proper function and intent of prophecy.

By the way , Damascus is one of the oldest existing cities in the world.

And it has yet to be destroyed as per prophecy.

Perhaps we should pray that Damascus won't be destroyed.

Excerpts from:Christians view Syria as haven in unstable region
DAMASCUS (Reuters) – Church bells mingle with calls to prayer from mosques in the Old City of Damascus, home to Christian communities rooted here long before the Islamic era.
Syria's dwindling Christians coexist with their Muslim compatriots in a country many of them see as a safe haven, in a region where religious minorities often struggle for survival.
Syria remains a relatively benign place for Christians, who nevertheless fear any spillover of regional conflicts and the rise of Islamist movements that might restrict their freedoms.Secularism plays a very important role, enabling minorities to live in peace and dignity and get access to their rights. We are allowed to build new churches, institutions and schools."
Syrian Christians also fear being tarred by association with the West, whose support for Israel and military invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan have fueled hostility among Muslims.
"Syria is the only country in the Islamic world in which school textbooks -- those required in religion classes in government schools -- state in simple language that Christians will go to heaven just as Muslims do," Landis said.

truthquest:

My comments are not toward you personally but as I read the above my mind asks the following questions:

1. I would love to pray that Damascus will never be destroyed but in order for that to happen my prayers would have to overrule prophecy. I have had a lot of prayers answered but I have never once expected that I can overrule gods plans for Damascus. If I could , I would be God. Think about it.

2. When Islam claims that Christians will go to heaven just like them , they are only trying to justify Islam by including Christians. Does God have a Son? Ask a Christian and ask a Muslim the question. The answer will put Islam and Christianity in their own places.

3. If I had it my way Damascus would survive , Muslims would go to heaven with Christians , and everything would be kind and wonderful and peaceful. But my desires have no authority.

I have only one choice. God does not provide multiple choice.

Best regards and I understand your kindness. I wish it would prevail.

We can still pray for the Christians there, our brothers and sisters.
Matthew 21:22 If you believe, you will receive what you ask for when you pray."
Mark 11:24 "So I tell you, when you pray for something, believe that you have already received it. Then it will be yours.
Luke 18:1 Jesus told his disciples a story. He wanted to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
John 17:9 "I pray for them. I am not praying for the world. I am praying for those you have given me, because they are yours.
John 17:15 I do not pray that you will take them out of the world. I pray that you will keep them safe from the evil one.
John 17:20 "I do not pray only for them. I pray also for those who will believe in me because of their message.
John 17:21 Father, I pray that all of them will be one, just as you are in me and I am in you. I want them also to be in us. Then the world will believe that you have sent me.
Acts 8:24 Then Simon answered, "Pray to the Lord for me. Pray that nothing you have said will happen to me."
Romans 15:30 Brothers and sisters, I am asking you through the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. Pray for me with the love the Holy Spirit provides.
Ephesians 3:16 I pray that he will use his glorious riches to make you strong. May his Holy Spirit give you his power deep down inside you.
Ephesians 6:18 At all times, pray by the power of the Spirit. Pray all kinds of prayers. Be watchful, so that you can pray. Always keep on praying for all of God's people.
Philippians 1:4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy.
Colossians 1:3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you.
Colossians 1:9 That's why we have not stopped praying for you. We have been praying for you since the day we heard about you. We have been asking God to fill you with the knowledge of what he wants. We pray that he will give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.
1Thessalonians 1:3 We never forget you when we pray to our God and Father. Your work is produced by your faith. Your service is the result of your love. Your strength to continue comes from your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 5:25 Brothers and sisters, pray for us.
2 Thessalonians 3:1 Finally, brothers and sisters, pray for us. Pray that the Lord's message will spread quickly. Pray that others will honor it just as you did.
2 Thessalonians 3:2 And pray that we will be saved from sinful and evil people. Not everyone is a believer.
Philemon 1:6 I pray that you will be active in sharing what you believe. Then you will completely understand every good thing we have in Christ.
3 John 1:2 Dear friend, I know that your spiritual life is going well. I pray that you also may enjoy good health. And I pray that everything else may go well with you.

Pray for the Christians of Syria that they may continue to be protected from harm and that the Christian message may be heard and received by all.

Thank you truthquest. I pray also for the Christians in Syria. Actually I wish no personal harm to anyone in that country and I am torn between two things.
1. One part of me finds it thrilling to see prophecy unfold and to see God unfold his plans for Israel
2. The other part of me hates violence of any sort against any people.

I do not believe in date setting the Rapture even the angles in heaven know not, but God commandes we know the seasons Matthew 16:3. And It lookes like the season of Damascus has come, Does God give us a hint when Damascus will be destroyed.... very interesting, Isaiah 18: When the bud is perfect, and the sour grape is ripening in the flower, he shall both cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks and take away and cut down the branches. They shall be left together unto the fowel of the mountains, and to the beasts of the earth, and the fowel shall summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth shall winter upon them. The Grape bud blooms in April in Israel, when will the sour grape be perfect in the flower MAY? Damascus is waxed feeble and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her anguish and sorrow have taken her, as a women in travail. therefore her young men shall fall in her streets and all the men of war shall be cut off IN THAT DAY, Jeremiah. Isaiah 17: And behold at eveningtide trouble, and before the morning he is not. Amos... For three transgressions of Damascus 1948, 1967, 1973, for the fourth I will not turn away its punishment.

Nice post, but spring of 2010 has come and gone.
Damascus still stands.
There haven't been any odd reports out of there either.

Perhaps you should go back to disbelieving in date setting.
Many a good theory has exploded when affixed to a calendar.

Your scholarship is not at issue, just your math.

I did some research on 12/21/12 for my book.
That particular theory seems to be full of holes, but it won't stop Hollywood from profiting in collective worry.
The date is my wife's birthday, BTW.
Since many fear mongers predict the end of the world on that date, perhaps I should arrange for my wife's party on 12/20/12.
What do you think?
Or perhaps I should take her to dinner at a restaurant that sits astride the San Andreas fault on the 21st.
Any suggestions as to which eatery is the best?

One thing is certain. These are the beginning of days when men's hearts will fail them for fear.
Why?
Lack of faith abounds as does the politics and profit which accrue from a high state of anxiety.

I was blessed to be born in the same year of Israel's rebirth. I've been an ardent prophecy buff since Hal Lindsey published The Late Great Planet Earth. The predicted disasters discussed here are indeed more "imminent" (not just because years have passed). Here's why:

Man has never made a weapon he has not used on himself. Twice in 1945 we used nukes against Japan. It shortened the war and, IMO, saved hundreds of thousands of lives that would have been lost in an unavoidable land invasion.

Nuclear weapons are now plentiful and owned by many nations in easy (ballistic/guided missile) reach of each other. The situation is reaching "critical mass" (pun intended).

Israel has the surprise Yom Kippur attack of 1973 scarred into its memory. They are rarely "surprised" by anything any more. It took Richard Nixon sending Golda Meier's entire wish list of military equipment to prevent Syria from overrunning God's people (along with many angelic interventions).

Israel has submarines with cruise missiles in easy reach of their neighboring enemies. We don't know about other assets on the ground, but the IDF knows exactly what they are going to, given any scenario. It may be like the "Shot Heard Round the World" in Concord (argument over who fired the first one). But Israel will fire the decisive shots. When will Damascus be hit? Nobody knows - but it can't be long now, if for no other reason than the fact that, once WMDs start getting thrown around, there won't be enough healthy humans or non-radioactive areas left from which to fulfill the rest of the prophecies.

Church members tread carefully after Syria closes church doors
Pray for the Syrian government to demonstrate more tolerance for establishing evangelical churches. Pray that Christians will be able to reach out to the Muslim population in Syria. Pray that Syrian converts to Christianity will be a strong witness to their family, friends and neighbors. Posted: 6 September, 2010
syria.gif
Syria (MNN) ― The spiritual climate in Syria is a changing one. While Syria's Christian minority is generally respected, conversions to Christianity from Islam are rare and sometimes met with opposition.

Voice of the Martyrs reports that evangelizing is legal, but visas are not granted for missionary work. And while there is freedom to worship, any activity that could threaten communal harmony is suspect, making it difficult to spread the Gospel.

Despite the challenges, Reach Global in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) began in 2008. The team working in the area is focused on holistic ministry: meeting physical and emotional needs as well as the spiritual needs of an individual.

They have been working together with churches, national partners, and collaborating with like-minded ministry organizations in order to reach the Syrians with the hope of Christ, and there has been success. A church has been planted.

Enter: opposition. This June, the Syrian government closed the doors of that evangelical church. The group is still hoping to meet for worship and Bible study, but they are praying for wisdom and discernment on how to do that and still remain within the law.

Pray for the Syrian government to demonstrate more tolerance for establishing evangelical churches. Pray that Christians will be able to reach out to the Muslim population in Syria. Pray that Syrian converts to Christianity will be a strong witness to their family, friends and neighbors.
