As a Christian I am well aware that our government is quite secular, some may be Christian politicians, but they try to work for all people, as they are politicians for all people and not just Christians.

So the question is "Are we expecting too much from our governments?" as Christians.

I guess the same question could also go for media, "Are we expecting too much from secular media?"

And the question could be asked for a whole lot of other things.

Is it expecting too much that liars tell the truth? Yes, so lower expectations.

YES YES YES! we are expecting way too much. We were never told to taker a nation and make it christian by force, but if the peoples hearts are won, it would be Christian by consent. The world is the world and always will be! We should not be surprised how it is getting darker and darker.

@Josho As a Christian, once I figured out what the role of the government should be in my twenties, IMO, I increasingly wanted to downsize it and not expect too much from it. Desiring too much from the government tends to give them powers beyond their original roles and duties to the people. They never serve themselves, they must serve the people, always. Unbridled and unchecked growing powers of a government breeds corruption and abuse by it. They then believe they deserve this unmerited and even illegal powers over time because people are either inept or willingly uninformed. Governments and its members can grow as a cancer to the nation. All governments should first be necessary in function and size to secure the liberties and freedoms of the people that elected them to their status in the first place.

Once the people believe its government is becoming its foe, it should be pruned back...I think Thomas Jefferson said this in his own words

God knew his people wanted a human government as other nations one day. And they got one. He also knew they would reap what they sowed in this regard, as history records. The perfect government is one only under our creator, not one of human composition with their fallen natures.

This perfect government will happen one of these days. I'm counting on it.

So I do not expect too much from human governments that will benefit me and its people. They need to be regulated and watched, like a hawk.

As for the media....they have turned generally into propaganda machines owned by a few rich men in the world...never used to be this way in the 70s....they are generally corrupt...independent news sources are the best bet to get some truth out....

Bless you,

APAK

It is the media that is promoting this phony Pandemic. The media is owned by filthy rich Liberals who hate Christians.

Let us remember it is not our job to judge the world now.

  1. 1 Corinthians 5:12
For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
  2. 1 Corinthians 5:13
But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
Our job is to model Christ to them and share the faith in th ehopes so may get saved!

Not in the least. Whether secular or not, governments are there to serve the citizens, not enslave them. But it is also the fault of citizens for voting liars into office over and over again. Secular does not mean dishonest, manipulative, and self-serving. It simply means having no connection to religion. But the religion of Western politicians is Liberalism and Socialism, and the State has become *god*.

The system is RIGGED. You can only vote for those they allow you to vote for. Your choice is: Which filthy rich lying politician will you vote for.

It is actually completely unrealistic to expect those without Christ to behave in a morally consistent way. There are some controls put in place in our society by those who held to a Biblical worldview and we should be grateful for those and desire to see more, but to look at a secular government and/or secular media and have expectations that they will behave in a pattern consistent with our faith is setting us up to be disappointed. We have put our hope in the wrong place.

Yes, a Christian should only expect Christian principles from a Christian entity. National governments are not under any obligation by definition or duty, to abide by or espouse Christian principles. In fact, the only thing to expect are antagonistic ideals to Christian principles, and this will be guaranteed. A theocracy is the only paradigm that will decree God given ordinances, but this is not the mandate for the world. Christians are not of this world, nor are they to conform to its constructs, nor impose their principles upon it.
Let the church and its local congregation define what is proper conduct for that immediate context and demograph.
Stay out of world affairs, you will only become defiled.
