MINISTRY IN THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH.
A good example of how ministry is embarked on in the NTC is found in Galatians 1 v 11. Where Paul says the following...."But I make it known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ."

And again in v 16..."But when it pleased God who separated me from my mother's womb and called me through his grace, to reveal his Son to me, that I might preach him amongst the gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, not did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia and returned again to Damascus."

And in chapter 2 v 1. "And I went up by revelation and communicated to them that gospel which I preached among the Gentiles."

This is very amazing, to say the least. How did Paul know what the gospel was and what he was preaching was true. Prior to preaching the gospel to the Gentiles, he had no contact with anyone who had been preaching the gospel apart from trying to get them killed for doing so. He knew what they were preaching but that was not uppermost in his mind. Stopping them doing it was the important bit.

He made it clear that the gospel he preached was not given to him by man. He was so sure that if someone was preaching another gospel to his and he alludes to this later in the letter, they were wrong, not him. So he wasn't taught by men. He didn't go to Bible College. He didn't serve as someone's understudy to later go out on his own. He wasn't a youth pastor before he was promoted to the senior pastor position.

No, he disappeared off the face of the earth and got the real deal straight from the person who devised it all. God himself. That is about as infallible as you can get dear Catholics. He had a very clear understanding of God under the Old Covenant from his days as a Rabbi. Now he had to learn about God and his plans for mankind under the New Covenant through the Messiah Jesus Christ.

That is why it is difficult to challenge what he wrote and taught because it came directly from God himself which means in challenging what he taught we are directly challenging God. Far better to ask "what does this mean for me and how do I put it into practice." By ignoring or changing anything, we are ignoring God and changing what he wrote.

My approach to scripture is what is this telling me, not "how does this differentiate with what the denomination teaches" to see if I have to make some adjustments. What the denomination believes is irrelevant if it does not line up with scripture. As Paul says "If it does not agree with me, forget it."

I was given a book once that set out the beliefs of a denomination that I had to read and agree to, to become a member. I read it and there were 31 demands in it that were not supported by scripture. I wonder how many are blithely signing the pledge not realizing what they are agreeing to has no authority from scripture? All they are doing is pledging their support to a man-made institution.

If I had a choice between Paul being my Elder and Joe Blow who is a denominational appointment I would pick Paul every time. Why? Because he got it straight from the horse's mouth as they say.

If you get your leading by revelation, you cannot go far wrong. Of course, people are going to say "but what if your revelation is wrong." My answer to that is "But what if my revelation is right." Why waste your time and energy worrying about what is going to go wrong when you can be used by God to deal with that which is right?

We need to develop a mentality that it is right until it proves to be wrong. If you hold back because it might be wrong you will never achieve anything. Every time I have stuck my neck out on the basis of a revelation that I got by the Spirit I have always been right. Probably because the Spirit is never wrong.

Every church needs to get a revelation of the gospel for their locality. What do they have to do or say to puncture Satan's hold on the people? Knowing the 39 articles will not do that for them. In my area, there are 45 churches. None of them has made any attempt to get a revelation for the area from God because they all do the same thing with their particular denominational emphasis on it. Not one has stepped outside the square.

Most of the time they don't get a revelation because they don't pray apart from 30 minutes a week and you only get revelation through prayer and waiting on God. Paul wanted the real deal that is why he set himself apart for three years, not 30 minutes, to find out the real deal and what his part was in it.

I don't want to sound critical but it makes me angry that the local ministers are content to run social clubs for their members and are denying them the real thing. Even Sunday morning is part of the social club if all they are doing is trotting out trite little homilies.

If the church in western society wants to advance, what they need to do is for a prayer council with a member/members from each church to meet together to pray and intercede and get revelation from God direct. If the church is not prepared to do it, then at least a person/s in the church who are prepared to do this can meet and hear from God with the likelihood that they will be in unity and when the brethren dwell together in unity the Lord commands the blessing.

On a personal note, back in the UK, I was a member of a traditional Baptist Church, and one week the pastor said he was going to have a prayer time once a week to wait on God. Abut half a dozen turned up every week to do this. We met in one of the member's homes for this purpose. It took us about six months to get ourselves attuned to God and what he wanted but when it came BOOM!

God told us to have a healing meeting. In a traditional baptist church?? Sorry but it just doesn't happen.

However next Sunday he announced a healing meeting the following Thursday. Next thing we know, a member's meeting had been called. The motion was "We don't do healing meetings so the Pastor has to desist or leave." It was discussed and a vote was taken. The Pastor won. All the deacons resigned and went to other churches.

A couple of years later and several healing meetings, most of the Deacons apologized and said they were wrong and came back to the church. That pastor went on to start a new movement of charismatic Baptist churches throughout the country. Not only the one he pastored but those that heard what was happening and wanted to be part of it.

Hi. I can be blunt at times, and I'm saying this in an attempt to not offend anyone unnecessarily. What I'm about to say is my opinion and I don't expect other to adopt it. Okay, I would like to go to the original ekklesia, or congregation. I say it this way because the word church wasn't in the bible originally. The KJV translators removed the word congregation 113 times and replaced it with the word church. The word church means, "a building of a lord." God no longer lives in, or needs, a building to live in. He has us. Jesus is not a lord, He is the Lord Of Lords and the King Of Kings. Today's church often resembles a franchise, owned by a franchise operator. Not all, but too many.
On the night of January, 20, 1998, a few friends and I went to the Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship (formerly Vineyard) and as it turned out, was the 4th anniversary of the start of the global church renewal. Since Tuesday night services no longer required seating for 5,000, they were now held upstairs. After the message, we were told that due to no ministry team, we could lay on the floor and some pastors would walk around and pray for us. The worship leader that night, Jeremy Sinnot, would also walk around and play over us. What a treat! As I lay on the floor, I felt like I was laying on the bottom of a swimming pool of God's peace. Then, all of a sudden, what felt like a geyser, started welling up from deep inside me. As It got closer to my throat, I realized that I was about to start shouting, "the birth of a new church," over and over again. Since I was with an elder of the church I'd resigned from the week before, I had earlier told myself that I wouldn't say anything about it. But this geyser in me was about to blow this. This all happened in about a second, so I didn't have time to think, instead, I just tried to shut it down. The result was that I lay there, shouting in a whisper, "the birth of a new church," over and over again. (God used the word church because at the time, that's what I knew) After things calmed down, I told my friend what had happened to me. He went and talked to a pastor about it. The pastor asked where we were from. When we told him Brantford, he said that earlier on, when he was walking around praying for people, when he got to us, he started seeing landmarks of his home town, in the Spirit. His home town was Brantford! One thing led to another, and a Christian woman I used to know from years before, ended up being given a home church plant, which was in Brantford, right next to where our first Vineyard home group was. Which she had always wanted, but the Lord didn't do it, yet. I was so happy for her, as I know she loved the Lord. She also drove an hour each way to attend the Airport church. I went to her plant a few times, including the night she gave me a book called, "The Complete Wineskin," by Herbert Eberle. As I was also attending another group that had children, like us, we ended up deciding to go there. A few years later I called Brenda, the woman with the new plant, and asked how she was doing. I was saddened when she informed me that she had brain cancer. She was a friend. I later went to her funeral. I hate funerals because they are the last time you see someone you care about. I know it's the way it is, but I don't have to like it. I pondered this for years and, with the Lord's guidance, I came to see that our Lord knew when she would die, so He gave the plant to her, knowing she was an unfulfilled pastor. This sort of thing is only one reason I worship Him. He threw a party for me. Best party of my life. And I remember it. Lol! He truly is worthy of our praise. About the birth of a new church? I now believe it was about a new congregation God is bringing. After the seven churches in Revelation, this will be the 8th church, a new beginning for the church. The last days congregation. Which I believe will include the body of Christ, the 10 tribes when they are woken to their true identity, and the Jews who accept their Messiah, Yeshua Ha Meshiach. After 2,800 years, God is keeping His promise to my ancestors. It makes me laugh and cry. It is my conviction that many people on this site, if not already, will be woken up to who their ancestors were. God will do it through inspiration. They are going to need our help with healing, as their, and my, recent ancestors, still worshiped false gods, a.k.a. fallen angels and the dead spirits of Nephilim. In my family's case, this was The Grand Orange Lodge. Similar to the Freemasons, these and all secret societies are strictly forbidden by God. At their highest levels, they worship Lucifer as god. This is why God sent my ancestors into exile in the first place. 600 years ago, my ancestors were Vikings, who worshiped Oden, Thor, Loki and others. So, I also believe that the natural Judah, Benjamin and some of the Levites (the Jews) will be saved. In fact, this is happening in the streets of Jerusalem as I write this, and throughout Israel. More Jews have been saved in the last 10 or so years, than in the last 2,000! When Israel became a nation on May 14, 1948, there were 30 Messianic Jews. Today, there are 30,000. There are Messianic groups all over the internet. Many of them are searching for the 10 lost tribes with Christians. An orthodox Jew, who is a scholar in the subject of the lost tribes, and has written a stack of books about this, and who, by the way, lives in Jerusalem, believes that along with the ten tribes, much of the body will also come home, to their earthly home of Israel. He is saying that he believes the non-ten tribe church is also part of Israel. I never thought I'd live to see this. He happily works with Christians. He isn't offended. His life work is doing research on the tribes, who he, as well as me, believe are mostly in the global church. This tells me that a lot of Christians need healing and deliverance. Which I already believed. I was and am one of them. This message is currently widely unknown to the Jews, for now. He is a single man who depends on donations, mainly from Christians around the world. If interested in looking into this further, his name is Yair Davidiy, and can be found on YouTube, Facebook and he works with Brit/Am Hebrew Nations (not to be mistaken for British Israelism), who are on all the usual places. He give 7 reasons why the tribes and the body can't return...yet. He does believe that Christianity is strictly forbidden for Jews. What can I say, he's wrong about this. He also says that most of the 10, as I call them, are in the West. At one time recently, I was perplexed because the only 2 I know that God has woken up are a Japanese woman who was told in a dream that her father was descended from Judah and me, a Levite, though we are both Messianic. Jews and Levites didn't sound very lost to me. Then I came across information that God would wake up Levites first. I also learned that some Jews are also lost. God told Abraham that his descendants would bless all the nations of the earth through him, and that his offspring would be like the number of the grains of sand on a beach, or like the number of stars in the sky. I hope you have been blessed by what I have written. As always, I say don't take my word for anything, instead take it to the Lord and His word. Shalom.

People will be even more blessed Ron if you use paragraphs as text in one big block is difficult to read.

Hi. You're not the first one to say this. This is one thing I didn't learn in school. I'm going to have to teach myself to do this. Otherwise, I find I'm making paragraphs that may not make sense, paragraphically speaking. Good call. Bye.

Hi. I am working on this. I started several threads tonight and if the truth be known, by the time I finished, I was thinking this was another thread of mine. My bad. I was thinking about breaking them into 2 parts. As my dad used to say, "Well, you see what thought did." Lol I miss the old guy, now that I'm one myself. I lost both of my parents 9 days apart. It took a few years to get past that. Back to subject. Did I mention that I have A.D.D.? No surprise, eh. I do appreciate the constructive criticism. One should remain teachable. Shalom.

Teachable yes, but one needs to be an empty glass so God can fill them. Like the water Jars, if they where already filled Jesus would have had them emptied cleansed than filled, but they where already prepared before He filled them.

Joh 2:6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
Joh 2:7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

Good on ya Ron. Basically you use a paragraph for each topic. I have done an exercise for you in your article to give you some ideas.

He gives 7 reasons why the tribes and the body can't return...yet.

God told Abraham that his descendants would bless all the nations of the earth through him and that his offspring would be like the number of the grains of sand on a beach, or like the number of stars in the sky. I hope you have been blessed by what I have written. As always, I say don't take my word for anything, instead take it to the Lord and His word. Shalom.

Sorry Amadeus you will have to explain to me what this has got to do with the comment it relates to.
Sorry but I could not help myself. @Philip James said "Which is it?" and you responded with "What is 'it'?"

The word, manna, the bread God dropped from the sky to feed the children of Israel in the wilderness means, "What is it?". Below are couple of verses showing when the manna was first encountered by them for food. They did not know what it was so they asked, "What is it?" That question
became the name of it.

"And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground.
And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat." Ex 16:14-15 [KJV]

"And when the layer of dew lifted, there, on the surface of the wilderness, was a small round substance, as fine as frost on the ground.
So when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, "What is it?" For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, "This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat." Ex 16:14-15 [MKJV]

The 'bread' as it is commonly used today speaks of the Word of God, the source for much [all?] of the New Testament Church. The Bread is Jesus as per:

"I am that bread of life.
Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." John 6:48-51

People today, including many in churches, but in The Church, which we might call the New Testament Church, very often do not know who or what Jesus is. "What is it [him]?"

To become a part of "a", or "the", NT Church is not the consumption of the Living Manna [Bread] required? How many eat knowing the answer to the question, "What is it?"?

People will be even more blessed Ron if you use paragraphs as text in one big block is difficult to read.
Hi, marksman, I just signed up with Grammarly. It's exactly what I needed. Thanks again, eh? We here in Canada think the most important word in the world is "EH?" I don't know for sure, but I think this phenomenon is caused by too much beer, too much back bacon, too much Red Green, too much Trailer Park Boys (at one time it was too much Bob and Doug) and definitely too much snow and cold! Shalom. P.S. Take off, you hoser! LOL

ONESHIP IN CHRIST.

Following on about the discussion relating to Gentiles being accepted into the church, Paul emphasizes this in his letter to the Galatian church in chapter 3 v 27, 28. Here he says that "For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ". The baptism he is talking about here is water baptism by immersion and he is showing how important it is to the new believer because in being baptized you are "putting on" Christ which you need to do after putting off the old man by repentance.

Then he says that there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

These verses relate to being a member of the body of Christ and nothing more. He was saying that no one can call upon special consideration when it comes to salvation as we are all one in Christ. Salvation puts us on an equal footing regardless of who or what we are. A slave had no fewer rights as a member of the body of Christ than a freeman had.

This verse has nothing at all to do with women's equality in the leadership of the church. General Overview of Revivals

You have to understand it in the context of the original church which was Jews only, some of whom thought that The Way was a vehicle for Jews only to proclaim the Messiah and reap the rewards of the benefits that he would bring.

One could be forgiven for thinking that in its early days, but as the gospel was taken to the gentiles and they were made equal partners in the gospel, the same as God tore the curtain in the temple into two to make himself accessible to all, so he opened the door to anyone who wanted to be a partaker of the divine nature to be able to do so on the same footing as the Jews had received it. That being the case it meant that everyone was united in Christ. There was no Jewish Christian; no male Christian; no female Christian; no freeman Christian.

Our appeal to God on the day of our salvation was only ever on the basis of our oneness in Christ. Becoming heirs of the promise and thus becoming part of Abraham's seed.

One can see how important this oneness is bearing in mind the division/ diversity that we are faced with today in the church. Sad to say there are certain denominations that pride themselves as being the best or superior group in the kingdom of God.

For example, the catholic church is quite scathing of Protestantism, deeming it to be an offshoot of the real church and nowhere near as right as the catholic church. Some Catholics would even consider Protestantism to be heretical.

And within Protestantism. there are groups/denominations who feel superior to other groups/denominations. They may have reason to believe this but the fact is when all is said and done we are ALL one in Christ.

One might say this is how we find out the true church being the church that accepts all who are one in Christ. I guess it gets down to finding out what unites us, not what divides us.

It was wonderful during the charismatic renewal in the UK in the 70s as churches who were swept up in it met together on a Saturday evening each month for praise prayer and worship and the ministers were all there and took turns to give inspirational words. You had no idea who you were sitting next to and what church they attended. Who cared. We were all one in Christ.

Imagine my surprise when one Saturday evening when I attended on my own and sat down next to another man on his own to find out afterwards he was a catholic and he was very charismatic during the meeting and would have been right at home in a pentecostal church.

I remember the churches in a place called Hertfordshire billing it as Herts Praise. The church in Hertfordshire praising God with all their heart.

BACKGROUND TO THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH
This may be a digression to the main topic but I think it will be helpful to understand the type of life that most of the believers lived in the natural.

For all its claim to an advanced society, Roman colonies were basically were dirty, smelly, and very unsafe because of marauding bandits. The outcome of this was disease and malnutrition. Surprisingly the average life span for a male was 45 years of age; for a female 38. Of all the people who were born in the Roman Empire, 50% died before the age of five. In addition, 25% of babies did not survive their first year. Don't forget they did not have modern medicine to deal with illness and no hospitals.

If the parents were too poor to care for the new arrival they just went to a barren place and left the baby there to die.

Take the case of the church in Galatia. It was mainly made up of slaves. The children of slaves remained slaves even after their parents may have become freedmen who were former slaves but given their freedom. That was a barbed sword because they did not have the full rights of citizenship so they tended to be extremely poor and have less security bearing in mind there was no welfare in those days.

It is very important to realise that the Galatian church as with many other churches had no bible. Not that it would be of much use to them because most could not read. Estimated illiteracy in the Roman Empire was about 90%. They had to rely on what they were told by word of mouth. Just a note here about Paul's thorn in the flesh was failing eyesight because he had others write his letters. Not so. It was common that people who wrote regularly would employ the services of a secretary to do the writing for him, and sign the last part of the letter to confirm its authenticity.

Paul suggests this in Philemon verse 19 when he says to him that he is writing this letter to him in his own hand. Meaning that some letters were not written in his own hand and he used the services of a secretary. So his thorn in the flesh had nothing at all to do with his eyesight.

Apparently many of the freedmen in the church lived on the border of starvation. They sought to find work each day and if they did they were paid a Denarius. Hardly enough to buy sufficient to feed a family. Meat was definitely off the agenda. There was no guarantee that they would find work.

This is why the church became so important to the believers because they had all things in common and they shared their meals together. Again, this is why communion is a figment of people's imagination as no one would go filled with a sip of wine and a piece of bread. They met daily for meals and that is one of the reasons why they appointed seven deacons to take care of the widows and orphans.

Prior to the church forming, if you were poor and destitute, in most cases that was your bad luck and you just had to accept the fact. With the church, it was committed to meeting the needs of the poor so being a believer had its advantages. Not that people became followers of the Way because they knew they would get a free meal. They became followers of The Way and as a result, they got a free meal. Well, not entirely free as everyone mucked in to prepare a meal for those without including those without.

So, you had a large section of society who had struggles to live a day at a time and who now were eating every day. What's not to be happy about. And as the scripture says, they were noted for their love for one another. It was this happiness and joy that attracted people to investigate what was happening.

And just a note here about 1 Corinthians 11 as being proof that the church had communion. Once again no. This chapter informs us that when they came together as a church for a meal, the better off would often ignore the poor and eat the food they brought without any consideration for the poor.

Verse 20 says that " when you come together it is not the Lord's supper that you eat. You can't have a supper composed of a piece of bread and a sip of wine. In Middle East terms you have supper when you have a meal. And is verse 21 it says that each one takes his own supper ahead of others (a piece of bread and a sip of wine??) and the result is another is hungry and another is drunk. How can you get drunk on a sip of wine?

Ignoring the poor is considered despising the church of God and brings shame on those who have nothing. Paul goes on to say that to eat and drink in an unworthy manner, eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. What that means is not discerning the needs of the poor who are members of the body of Christ, bearing in mind that we are all one in Christ. So in abusing the poor we are abusing ourselves.

To prove this point Pauk says in v33, " Therefore my brethren, when you come together to eat, WAIT FOR ONE ANOTHER."

Notes regarding the original Greek.

Verse 20. EAT = eat meat; SUPPER = chief meal.
Verse 23. BREAD = Loaf.
Verse 29. DISCERNING = Separating thoroughly; BODY = bodily, slave.
Verse 33. EAT = eat meat.
Verse 34. EAT = Devour.

Not much there to indicate a piece of bread or a sip of wine. Put what spin you want on it but the original Greek and the evidence revealed in the history of the NTC says otherwise.

THE MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH.

Chapter 1

This is a very important topic not ony for the NTC but for us as well. Half of the references to the Holy Spirit in the New Testament are in the book of Acts. That says something in itself. The backdrop bearing in mind is of a church that did not have a New Testament and which the Old Testament was not much use because the majority could not read.

There were some that could as evidenced by Peter's preaching on the day of Pentecost where he set out the prophetic in the Old Testament regarding Jesus. And later of course Paul who was a learned Rabbi.

So their source of information was from the 12 apostles or the Holy Spirit and later Paul. Today we still have all three, with the apostles and Paul's information found in the New Testament and the Holy Spirit..well one does wonder about that. Like the church ignoring four of the five ministries in Ephesians 4:11, they seem to ignore the Holy Spirit as a source of information. The fact is the main source of information today is often the modern day minister. He is paid to search the scriptures for everyone else and what he says goes so who needs to read the bible or listen to the Holy Spirit? After all the church is not much more than a social club for christians so why get involved in serious stuff. A 30 minute homily will do us fine.

We will note that in Acts 1:2 that Jesus elected the apostles through the Holy Spirit. If Jesus needed the Holy Spirit to help make his decisions, how much more do we need to. The fact that we don't means that we think that the Holy
Spirit is surplus to our requirements. Which is strange as the scripture says that the Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth. For me, that means there is no truth outside of the Holy Spirit. So, if we are relying upon our own wisdom it could be the truth or it could not be the truth. Dangerous ground don't you think?

In Acts 1:5 we get our first promise about the Holy Spirit. "You will be baptised in the Holy S
pirit not many days after" (John's Baptism). This comment emphasised the importance of the Holy Spirit to the church. Note it does not say "You might be"or "with a bit of luck" or "take it or leave it" or "it wil be an optional extra." No. The word was YOU WILL BE...

Acts 1:8. And what was the purpose of the Holy Spirit coming on them? You will receive power to be witnesses. So if you feel a bit timid, there is your answer. The power of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 1:16. Here we find that this was all planned and spoke of in the scriptures. It says that the Holy Spirit spoke before. So he was not a newcomer on the scene, used to make things happen on the day of Pentecost. He was right there in the planning of it all.

Acts 2:4. No more talking now for the action. They were ALL filled with the Holy Spirit. Filled. No glass half full measure. How did they know this.? They spoke in other languages. Not other tongues. Languages. In all probability the languages of the visiting Jews to Jerusalem at Pentecost. What you might call a trial run. And note this as well. It was the Holy Spirit that gave them the ability to speak other languages. No Holy Spirit, no languages.

Acts 2:33 To round things off, Peter said Jesus had been exalted to the right hand of the Father, confirming his death, ressurection and ascension which became the main sticking point with the Sanhedrin, had received the promised Holy Spirit from the Father as he said would happen, (sending a comforter) and if you don't believe me, what has just happened is evidence for the outpouring of the promised Holy Spirit. Which means of course it was a very physical event.

Acts 2:38 What are we going to do?? Obviously they worked out they had to do something if this was the real deal but what? Peter pressed home his advantage and told them what to do. He didn't tell them to accept Jesus into their hearts. He didn't tell them to be born again. He didn't get them to sign a document.

NO. First they had to repent for the remission of sins. In other words have the old man dealt with. Remission is a cancellation of a debt, charge or penalty.

Second, they had to be baptised (in water by immersion) in the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST (not father, son and holy spirit) to put on Christ (the new man).

Both were required for the remission of sins.

And finally, they would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Not maybe or could be or shoud be but will be.

As far as the trinity is concerned this is one trinity that we all need for the simple reason that the NTC needed it so we are no different.

THE MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH.

Chapter 2

We move on to Acts 4:8 where it says "Then being filled with the Holy Spirit, Peter said to them, Rulers of the people and Elders of Israel......Notice that he addressed the top dogs of the Jews, not your average everyday Jew.

Note earlier I pointed out that the Holy Spirit was promised so that they would be witnesses. Peter spoke after he was FILLED with the Holy Spirit. Another promise that was fulfilled.

Just a thought. If at any time you know you are being filled with the Holy Spirit, perhaps it might be a good idea to ask the Lord who he wants you to witness to?

Prior to this event with the rulers and leaders, Peter had capitalized on the healing of the lame man and set out the Jewish gospel outlining the timeline of Jesus in the Old Testament. It goes on to say in Acts 4:4 that about 5,000 men who heard believed. Just imagine 5,000 baptisms. You have got to hand it to the Holy Spirit not to do things by halves.

This had upset the Rulers and leaders immensely so they laid hands on them ( not the way or reason that we might do) and put them into custody until the next morning. That is when Peter boldly spoke to the leaders. He didn't mince his words.

If you are going to judge us for a good deed done to the lame man (morons) the fact is it happened through the name of Jesus (not father, son, and Holy Spirit). You know, the one YOU crucified, but God raised him from the dead, so deal with that, because it is through this man Jesus whether you like it or not, that the lame man stands whole. You rejected him but God has made him the chief cornerstone.

Plus, in case you have ideas to the contrary, salvation is through this man Jesus and we can only be saved through his name.

Phew!! Peter had just wiped out just about everything the Sanhedrin believed. Talk about being put in their place.

Now, what could they say? Peter and John were bold. The rulers realized they were uneducated and untrained, so they had no pharisaical training.
They knew they had been with Jesus. And they saw the man who had been healed standing there, so what was there not to like from an average everyday Jews' point of view. I will bet that the average everyday Jew watching was gloating over the temple Rulers being put in their place.

So what did the rulers do? They could not do anything about the fact that a lame man was healed because he was standing there. So they told them to shut up and not talk to anyone about the Name of Jesus. You might as well have waved a red rag in front of a bull.

To put it colloquially Peter said "Up yours. it ain't gonna happen. We will speak about the things we have seen and heard".

What could the rulers do? The man who had been healed was over 40 years of age so, the people glorified God for what had happened. Even if the Rulers didn't the people knew which way the cookie crumbled and were not going to be denied their day in the sun.

Still wanting the last word the Rulers threatened them before they were released. When they were, they went to their own companions and reported what had happened. Oh boy, what a story to tell. and tell it they did. We need to point out that when all this all happened, the main way of transmitting the story was used. Passing on the story vocally to others. And it would have been passed onto sufficient people to know when you heard the story whether it was the truth or not.

THE MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH
chapter 3

What was the response of their companions when they were told what had happened. Acts 4 v 23.

"Perhaps we should tone down things a bit?"
"If we are not careful we are going to screw things up."
"Perhaps it would be better if we do what we are told."
"No use getting thrown into jail if it means that we are silenced."
"What have we done to deserve this?"
"Are we going to do what the Sanhedrin say or what God says?"

None of the above. What they did say and do was to......

Raise their voice to God with ONE ACCORD..no beating around the bush. All for one and one for all. :D:D:D:D:D

"We have heard this all before and as far as we are concerned they can all go to hell. They have made a big mistake in trying to shut us and you down. In a word, it ain't going to stop us or you doing what you intend to do.

SOOOOOOOOO...Look on these threats for what they are and give us boldness to speak your word, stretch out your hand to heal, and let signs and wonders be done through your name.

When they had done praying, the place was shaken and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit which meant they spoke the word of God with boldness. An instant answer to prayer.

That happened before we could even get a committee together to discuss the situation and prepare a response to the Sanhedrin.:(:(:(:(:(

What can we take away from this?

One. When the Holy S
pirit is involved anything can happen.
Two. Are we afraid of people or are we afraid of God?
Three. The miraculous was every day normal for the NTC. Why not us?
Four. The NTC was on fire for God and nothing was going to stop them.
Five. Who had more authority? The Sanhedrin or God?
Six. Being filled with the Holy Spirit was not a once off event.
Seven. Being filled with the Holy Spirit gives us boldness.
Eight. The NTC was united.
Nine. Persecution will come if you rock the boat.
Ten. There is no value in being a timid mouse.

ABUSE LAWYER FINGERS CATHOLICS AND MORMONS
Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on a biased TV ad:
Your "experience and study" is clearly of the bigotted anti-Catholic variety. This is evident in your stupid insults.
Here, you claim to have been in the RCIA program, and the first thing a priests asks a potential convert is WHY they want to become Catholic. No priest in his right mind would allow a frothing-at-the-mouth anti-Catholic bigot to be part of a faith building milieu. Name the priest and the parish where you say you were "expected to know" OR STOP LYING.
Another LIE. The Church encourages us to vote for candidates who uphold moral laws, but never tells us who we must vote for. Cite any source where the priest tells people how to vote OR STOP LYING. This is just hate speech. Sex abuse is a serious sin, not church policy. You are so full of hate you can't tell the difference.
A non-sequitur fallacy. First, that was 50 years ago. Second, every institution at that time did the same thing. Third, enabling bishops at that time followed the advice of psychologists who oversold their "therapy" and shifting them was part of it. They were appointed and accountable to the courts but nobody ever mentions that. Are the victims parents deaf and dumb? Some bishops at that time didn't know how else to handle the problem, they just did what everybody else did at that time, and we now know it was wrong. Now, priests and bishops are obligated, by Vatican directives, to call the cops, but you don't care about that.
Bad priests are dead, in jail or thrown out of ministry. Enabling bishops have long since been corrected/disciplined, but you don't care about that either.
You don't know much about teenagers. Normal teenagers would punch the priest in the mouth and rightly so. Homosexual teenagers would not. 80% of all cases did not involve children, teenagers are not children. The bulk of the scandals was homosexuality, not pedophilia. Are you covering up for homosexuals by majoring in the minors?
Scandal I was the worst crisis in the history of the Church. Yes, it happened.
Scandal II is perpetuating the myth, along with secular media, that nothing has been done about it. I have proven that Catholicism is not a cult, and you respond by playing the ever so popular, worn out, sex abuse card.

There is a "report abuse" button on the main page of many diocese, if not all. Does your church have one? Or does it even have a web page? Or do you even have a church?

Then there is the HUGE problem of sex abuse by public school teachers who are protected by their unions. No outrage there. The identity of abusers is more important than kids, right marksman?

Many states have suspended the statute of limitations for sexual abuse crimes against minors, and some lawyers have seized the opportunity to single out the Catholic Church. It would be like fighting crime and focusing exclusively on African Americans. Both campaigns smack of bigotry.

One of the most egregiously biased TV ads on this subject is being promoted by California attorney Andrew Van Arsdale. It has been running on Fox News, among other places.

Here it is. “For decades, survivors of childhood sexual abuse were told it was too late for them to seek justice. No more. Statute of limitations prohibited organizations such as Catholic and Mormon churches, public and private schools, Boy Scouts and other youth organizations from being held accountable. No more.”

Why Catholic and Mormon churches? Why not Protestant churches and Christian schools? Why not Jewish synagogues and yeshivas? Is it because Catholic and Mormon institutions are known for their traditional values?

Why is there no interest in pursuing the one venue where most of the abuse takes place, namely, the family? Live-in boyfriends are particularly notorious. But there is no money to be made prosecuting single mothers, so these men get off scot-free. The decision to single out the Catholic Church is driven by bigotry, not the pursuit of justice. (get it, marksman?)

Religious profiling is just as invidious as racial profiling, though they are treated differently by elites. This shows how utterly insincere their objections to profiling are. What matters is who is being profiled, not the practice itself.
(get it, marksman?)
