It is simply that the fruit of the Spirit doesn't violate the law.

But scripture teaches that we are not under the law (Romans 6:14), are dead to the law (Romans 7:4, Galatians 2:19) and are delivered from the law.

And I believe that this is as concerning condemnation.

For we are still governed by the law from the inside (Hebrews 8:8-10, Hebrews 10:16, Romans 8:7, Romans 8:4, 1 John 5:3, 2 John 1:6; Romans 5:5).

But the effect of this does not occur by attempting to obety a set of do's and don'ts. It occurs because we have the love of God in us (Romans 5:5); which love is practical (1 John 3:17-18) and the fulfilling of the righteousness of the law within us (Romans 13:8-10, Galatians 5:14, 1 John 5:3, 2 John 1:6, Romans 8:4).
IF YE FOLLOW the SPIRIT ye are NOT UNDER THE LAW .
THE SPIRIT .
Rest assured When the word says FOLLOW , it means FOLLOW . Not saying you dont know this . I am just reminding us is all .

Gal 5:16, This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:17, For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Gal 5:18, But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Gal 5:19, Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:22, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

If ye BE LED of the SPIRIT . Yes indeed . For who we obey , IS WHOSE we are . whether of sin unto death
or obediance unto ..............RIGHTEOUSNESS .
The SPIRIT is our guide . But how many truly follow the SPIRIT is the real question .
These are not accusations . they are only questions to help make us think and see things just a wee more clearly .

When Jesus taught in general, He taught the New Covenant, as in the Sermon on the Mount. When asked a question, as with the rich young ruler, he taught according to the present covenant, which before Jesus dies and raises is the Old Covenant.
CL....you're a smart lady; you can see that this doesn't add up!.....you say he taught according to the New Covenant yet pointed the young man back to the Old.
No my dear, your proposal carries no weight....it is a very poor attempt to dismiss God's Law

Barny, dear, he is not an Antinomianist. He believes in stronger laws than the 10C, not no laws.

I believe what Paul said.... “All things are Lawful”
I do NOT believe in “Stronger Laws”.....that just causes more Sin! “The STRENGTH OF SIN is the LAW”
Harping about sin just makes it more appealing....kids in my neighborhood never really bothered my lawn until I put up a sign that says “ keep off the grass “.....
If the Old Testament which stressed LAW - Keeping as a way to victory was the Answer, why did God judge it as being “ beggarly?” God found Fault in it — it was “ weak” and had “ no Power to Save”.....That is why He devised a Covenant That was “ better”. ......A Covenant That replaced “ DO” with” DONE”...... A Covenant with actual “ POWER” to Save......Simply Believe and Rest in the Gospel Of Pure Grace ( 1cor15:1-4) No longer is it a Religion Of “ What must I do for God ( keep Laws, mainly ) to “ Look what Jesus has done for me”—— all I have to do is Believe it.All I have to do to be Saved is accept the Free Gift That God offers all that will “come to Him”. It’s ALL Grace....if Stronger Laws were the Answer, why did God say that “ Christ is THE END of the Law for Righteousness “ . God proved that you can’t “ legislate morality”...... You want Obedience? Forget Law. Preach Grace......you would be surprised by what would happen .....not God though .....He has known all along that Grace spurs Love and Love brings about a true Obedience from the heart that the Law could NEVER produce.....I guess you have to live it to understand it.....

God found Fault in it — it was “ weak” and had “ no Power to Save”.....
It has no power to "impart life" (Galatians 3:21)....it does have power to "convert the soul" (Psalms 19:7 (kjv))...by showing mankind that he is a sinner in need of a Saviour (Romans 3:20) as a schoolmaster to lead him to Christ (Galatians 3:24-25).

Why did Jesus never tell the rich young ruler to keep the Sabbath? He only told him to keep the moral laws toward each other.

Would you then call yourself an Antinomianist? I didn't know you believed as they do. Maybe I am the only non-Antinomianist on this debate who does not believe in the Ten Commandments, but what I see to be the stronger commandments of Jesus, that you don't seem to believe in either. Well, I love you anyway. And my SDA friends too.

So tell me, do you then agree with Behold's posts? At least you don't hate me like he does.

I know absolutely Nothing about Anti- whatever it is and I know Nothing about the other side...
I am a” Jesus Man” , a “Free Man in Christ” who just happens to Believe the song “ Nothing But The Blood” ( millions need to rip it out of their hymnals tomorrow morning— first thing! They sing it brainlessly and don’t really Believe it for one second ) All I do is plod along and try to sniff out Leaven and it’s accompanying Legalism and show people how to REST in Paul’s Gospel ,which is the Key to tapping into God’s Love , which is the Engine that drives the TRUE OBEDIENCE that God is looking for.....I see myself as God’s “ Pit Bull” in fighting the Legalism That has 90% of the Church World “ Fallen From Grace” and they don’t even know what it means.....at the least , I am trying to save people from a Crippled Faith Walk and at most, I may be a voice trying to keep people out of Hell.....the jury is still out on exactly what “ Fallen From Grace” really entails—- some say it is Damnation —- I hope they are wrong...
Behold is a Man Of Strong Faith.... I consider him a Friend and a Brother.... I do not believe he hates you.... he is Passionate in his beliefs and is sincerely trying to help people.....just like me...
If you want to put a label on me, try this one.....Paul missed the boat on this observation , I hate to say, but Blood Bought is the TRUE “ Chief Of Sinners” .....rescued by the Mercy and Grace Of God, through my Faith in the Blood Of Jesus Plus Nothing. His Blood....my Faith.....That was enough. Yes, step aside , Paul—— there’s a New Kid in Town.....

Barny, I was bothered by this post so much, that I thought I just had to ask you what you think is the "Spirit" indwelling me?
CL, I wouldn't dare judge such a thing. We are friends and I take you at your word that you have the Holy Spirit. The post was general and therefore honestly directed at no one, but especially not you. We both speak very bluntly at times, but we never speak harsh or condemning words to each other, at least, not to my recollection. If I ever say anything that offends you, you may safely assume it is a mistake or misunderstanding and contact me right away.

What I meant was that I have encountered some who seem to believe that the Holy Spirit acts independently of and/or contrary to His Word. You and I only disagree about what the Word means at times. I hope this clears the air satisfactorily. I value your friendship and I'm sorry I upset you.

On a lighter note, have you tried that Nuteena recipe yet? I haven't but I have the ingredients for it.
:)

When John gives these two commandments in 1 John 3:23, do you believe you are under those commandments?

No, I can't stand for very long so don't cook. Next week I'm going in for a Angiogram and possible Angioplasty if there is a blockage. I hope there is, and this will take care of my problem getting out of breath any time I stand up for very long.
