Doesn’t @Josho play video games?

In video games, you have fun doing and being something besides your same-old-same old. Have some adventure and fun.

A role-playing video game has that same fun. Same with other role playing games of the non-video game variety.

Hmmm it's fun being a ranger, fire em arrows, and run away. :D

See.

So wouldn't the same apply to playing a character in a Christmas play?

You know maybe you should try singing one of my favorite Christmas songs as practice,.. it's called Silent Night. :p

In my job I have to often role play with the residents that have dementia. To them I may not be seen as a housekeeper cleaning their rooms, I could be a classmate from school, a fellow office worker , and employee or a member of their family. So I play along - endeavouring to work out who I am to them through their words.

@Rita Must be hard for them to get a grip on reality sometimes....

Lolz to continue our conversation, even though it may look like I might be good at role-playing in real life, it's not really my thing to be honest. I'm too shy to be an actor and I wasn't a fan of role-playing in school plays. :D

That’s easily solved: play with small group of close friends whom already have mountain of embarrassing black mail on you. ;)

I'm glad you understood that I was joking, but I swear if you say one more word about Christmas I'm going to ask Santa for some duct tape. XD

That's awesome. Doesn't matter who they think you are, just allowing them to talk what they do remember, good for their well being.

That's all well and good, and then there was the day my wife and I were in the dementia wing, and this man grabbed my wife, "You! You're staying here with me! Don't go away!" When I intervened, "She's my wife!!!", he was shouting, so the nurses came quickly, thankfully!

Otherwise, yeah, that's the best you can do I think!

Much love!

My wife and I have role played, before interviews, important phone calls, difficult family situations, one of us playing the part of whomever we have concerns about, the other learning their reactions to different responses before the fact, and sorting out our answers. Both of us have problems thinking on our feet sometimes.

Much love!

Yes, that’s when it gets difficult. Many of our residents think other residents are their husbands or wives, but in most cases it doesn’t cross any lines ( but there have been a few that have and careers have to take measures to protect both residents )

It takes a bit of practice and time to get to know the residents. When I first started it was really difficult to get the hang of it. However demencia training help ( all the teams have to do regular courses ) It’s kind of second nature to me now x

My mom had memory loss. But I have an interest in genealogy, and knew her history well into her childhood, and names of people she knew, things she did, places familiar to her.
It made communication with her easy, by going back to a time she could remember and bringing that up, and let her do most of the talking.

I'm sure family members could assist you in the same respect ... but could be more difficult, with having multiple "patients".

One thing I have Noticed visiting different "rest home" facilities, is observing patients, sitting alone, reacting to Older music, particularly songs kids "use" to regularly learn and patriot songs...noticing them singing along, tapping a foot, enjoying the moment.

Glory to God,
