Jesus said "He who believes and is baptized will be saved" (Mk 16:16)

Peter said "Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you" (1Pet3:21)

Pray for some wisdom and understanding!!! THINK!!! Baptism saves NO one!!! PROOF= A unbeliever could be baptized every day of their life to please their parents, wife or friends but if they do not believe and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior baptism will never save them!!

I never suggested such a thing.
Why do you ignore what Jesus clearly said "He who believes and is baptized will be saved" (Mk 16:16)
belief + baptism = salvation.
You need to start believing Jesus not your own opinions.

Baptism on its own just to please wife, parents etc, without belief, will just get you wet. Indeed its not actually true baptism.

Baptism saves NO one!!!

Verses that explicitly say baptism save us:

1. Whoever believes and is baptised will be saved (Mk 16:16)

2. Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, (1Pet 3:21)

3. Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand persons were added that day. ……. And every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved. (Acts 2:41….47)

Verses that implicitly say baptism saves us:

4. Or are you unaware that we who were baptised into Christ Jesus were baptised into his death? We were indeed buried with him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live in newness of life. For if we have grown into union with him through a death like his, we shall also be united with him in the resurrection.
(Rom 6:3-4)

5. “..he saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit.” (Titus 3:5)

6. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. (1Cor 6:11)

7. “Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. (Jn 3;5)

Verses that link baptism to some aspect of salvation:

8. Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. (Acts 2:38)

9. Now, why delay? Get up and have yourself baptised and your sins washed away, calling upon his name. (Acts 22:16).

10. let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. (Heb 10:22)

11. You were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead. And even when you were dead (in) transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he brought you to life along with him, having forgiven us all our transgressions; (Col 2:11-13)

12. all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. (Gal 3:27).
But it is God who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us, by putting his seal on us and giving us his Spirit in our hearts as a first installment. (2Cor 1:22)

When we are clothed with Christ we have been put into Christ and God gives us the Holy Spirit in our hearts. Just as was prophesied by Ezekial (Ez 36:25-27):
I will sprinkle clean water upon you to cleanse you from all your impurities, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you, taking from your bodies your stony hearts and giving you natural hearts. I will put my spirit within you….

13. “In him also you were circumcised with a spiritual circumcision, by putting off the body of the flesh in the circumcision of Christ; when you were buried with him in baptism, you were also raised with him through faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.” (Col 2:11-12)

Baptism brings us into the body of Christ (the Church).
14. As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptised into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit. (1Cor 12:12-13).
15. This text also shows this: one body and one Spirit, as you were also called to the one hope of your call; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; (Eph 4:4-5)

16. Through baptism we are brought into the new covenant “In him also you were circumcised with a spiritual circumcision, by putting off the body of the flesh in the circumcision of Christ; when you were buried with him in baptism, you were also raised with him through faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.” (Col 2:11-12)
This clearly links a “spiritual circumcision” with baptism, a link from baptism to the covenant, not through physical circumcision (as in the Old Covenant) but a spiritual one.

17. For through faith you are all children of God in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free person, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendant, heirs according to the promise. (Gal 3:26-27)

Paul tells us in Romans 9:8 “That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed.” It is in baptism (with water) that we become children of the promise; we are made children of God.

You need to start believing the Bible GISMYS_7

Romans: Chapter 10 verse 9-10-13 GOD SAYS=

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him
from the dead, thou shalt be Saved. For with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession
is made unto Salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the
name of the Lord shall be Saved....................

---------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------

An example prayer for those that have never talked to God!

Heavenly Father:........................................... ...............................
I come to you in prayer asking for the forgiveness of
my Sins. I confess with my mouth and believe with my
heart that Jesus is your Son, And that he died on the
Cross at Calvary that I might be forgiven and have
Eternal Life in the Kingdom of Heaven. Father, I believe
that Jesus rose from the dead and I ask you right now
to come in to my life and be my personal Lord and
Savior. I repent of my Sins and will Worship you all the
day's of my Life!. Because your word is truth, I confess
with my mouth that I am Born Again and Cleansed
by the Blood of Jesus! In Jesus Name, Amen

A prayer more likely to save you is:

Dear Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I admit that I am a sinner in need of a Saviour and that You are that Saviour. I call upon Your Name for salvation. Please forgive me of all my sins and come into my heart and be my Lord and Saviour. I confess that You are the Son of God and I receive You as my Lord; I also confess that You are the Lord of all creation and now the Lord of my life. I believe that You died for my sins and rose again the third day. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and I will follow You all the days of my life. In Your Name, Amen.

Galatians 3:22, Matthew 1:21, Romans 10:13, 1 John 1:9, John 1:12, 1 John 4:15, Romans 10:9-12, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Luke 11:9-13, Matthew 5-7.

you have not really read what I have written,,,,,Have you? Let me be clear AGAIN: It is not up to YOU or ME or any individual Christian to interpret Scripture. The Church decides,

The church consists of you and me...every person who believes on Jesus Christ and what He did for us on the Cross for salvation is a member of the body of Christ...the church.

Pray for some wisdom and understanding!!! THINK!!! Baptism saves NO one!!! PROOF= A unbeliever could be baptized every day of their life to please their parents, wife or friends but if they do not believe and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior baptism will never save them!!

In Romans 6:4, we are told that walking in newness of life is the sure result of being baptized (with faith, Colossians 2:12 (kjv)).

However, if you merely believe you "should not perish" (John 3:16).

If you call on the name of the Lord you "shall be saved" (Romans 10:13).

No doubt...

The same absoluteness that is given for being baptized in faith is given to the one who calls on the name of the Lord.

That is why people have to stop cherry picking bits of scripture and take all relevant scripture into account.

I have seen it that in sprinkling clean water on a man, faith was instilled within him and his destination became heaven.

Luk 7:29, And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.
Luk 7:30, But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.

Eze 36:25, Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
Eze 36:26, A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
Eze 36:27, And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

You keep saying that but I didn't say Unbelief + Baptism = Heaven.
GET THIS: BELIEF + BAPTISM = SALVATION
Just as Jesus said "He who believes and is baptized will be saved"
Beleives + is baptised = saved
Got it yet?

Believes + baptized = most assuredly saved (as in "shall be").

Mere belief = "should not perish" (John 3:16)...iffy...but still the possibility.

You lack understanding!!! You have the proof before you= you know many unbelievers get baptized to please others and you "SHOULD" know that ALL unbelievers that are baptized are bound for hell!!

Hi JBF,

Matthew 18:17 and 1 Timothy 3:15 destroy your theory that every Christian is the Church. We are members of the church but we are not individually The Church. If your theory were true are you the pillar and foundation of truth or am I???? (I look forward to your answer)

Putting your theory into practice with a scenario: After the death of Christ the 12 Apostles left Jerusalem and started their own churches in various cities and parts of the world. They all taught different messages and established different doctrines on how to obtain salvation! When 6 churches had a disagreement with the other 6 churches on doctrine and what one must do to be saved both sides stuck to their truth and told the other churches they were wrong because they were not being guided by the Holy Spirit. Instead of getting together to discuss it and have One Church with One message they just decided that they really don't know who is right since both of them have some portion of The Truth. They decided they should just practice/preach their truth and let the other 6 churches practice the truth they believe. It's all good with the Holy Spirit!!!

Putting Scripture into practice: After the death of Christ the 12 Apostles left Jerusalem and built upon the foundation of The Church that Christ started in various cities and parts of the world. When The Church elders had a disagreement about what Scripture/Jesus taught they got together in a meeting in Jerusalem and the Holy Spirit guided them to the Truth. They then made that decision binding upon all "members of the church" worldwide. Recognize that from Scripture justbyfaith???

Keeping it real...bible study Mary

It seems to me that the pillar and foundation of the truth is the house of God...where the believers gather together.

As for the rest of your post, I don't have much of an answer...

I do believe that the different church councils that met to determine church doctrine came up with sound conclusions in church history.

Nevertheless, I believe that every believer needs to search out those answers for themselves by reading the scriptures for themselves, in order for it to take root in their lives as doctrine that is truly biblical in their minds.

Simply accepting dogma as it is passed down from the church will not cut it in my opinion...it is receiving it from a secondhand source...and would be counted as hearsay in a court of law. But if the person gets their belief directly from holy scripture, then it is firsthand information and much more viable.

Born again Christians are the house of God - not a building.
