I thought this might an interesting topic.

Hell: The worst prison that ever existed, with the worst beings who ever lived!

Matthew 25:41 (NKJV)
41 Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

Matthew 8:12 (NKJV)
12 But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness.

Imagine being in darkness for eternity! YIKES! Scares me!

There will be BILLIONS in Hell who don't believe in Hell.

The concept of Hell as place of eternal concious torment is not taught in the Bible. It comes from Greek Philosphy. For there to be a place of eternal torment man you need to be immortal. However the apostle Paul informs us that the Father alone is immortal. Man is mortal and he will die. Hell in the Bible, Hades or Sheole, is actually the grave. All people go to the grave. When a person dies they go to the grave where they remain until the Resurrection.

So isn't outer darkness different from everlasting fire ?
If its the same place, then there will be plenty of light with all that fire.
I've wondered about that too. But we've never seen eternal fire. And hopefully won't.

Not Bible???

"being in torments"
"he cried"
"I am tormented in this flame"
"you are tormented"
"this place of torment"

Luke 16:22-28 (NKJV)

22 The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.' 25 But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.' 27 Then he said, 'I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.'

Yes, I suppose if there were fire in outer darkness...the darkness would be no more! This is a great subject as I've been trying to get it straight in my mind as to the difference and, I do believe there is one.
My thoughts go right to the Wedding Banquet and the guest in filthy garments. Did this guest think he could enter without knowing Christ? Or, simply an unbeliever who thought they were pretty "good people" Or even a disobedient servant? Or:
Matthew 7:21-23
"Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness."
I know that is not the wedding banquet but, it should be connected I suppose...? :)

.
Matt 8:11-12 . . I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and
west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the
kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into
outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Outer darkness is again spoken of in Matt 22:13 and Matt 25:30

It appears, from comparison of the available data, that "outer darkness" isn't
a location, rather, a state of mind characterized by the deepest possible
feelings of anguish and grief associated with loss.

It's akin to the day that God announced to Moses' people they were going to
have to stay in that awful Sinai outback until they were dead. They missed
their opportunity to enter the land of milk and honey and there was no way
to regain it.

The people must've been pretty upset over that; no doubt they had all been
joyfully looking forward to a new life over there; and there was no use in
praying about it because God had made up His mind.

I've only experienced deep personal grief associated with irreversible loss
but one time; that was when my No.1 nephew passed away suddenly of
natural causes at the age of 51. I had held him in my arms upon returning
home from three years in the Army when he was only a couple of weeks old.

News of his passing has thus far been the only time in my 76 years that I
actually clenched my teeth, sobbing out of control, and choking, while
clinging to a handrail in the front room to keep from losing my balance and
falling to the floor.

Fortunately my wife was out on an errand at the time or she would've been
very frightened as she has never seen me in such a state even once during
our nearly 41 years of marriage.

Man is mortal and he will die. This is true but hell is a second death. People won't be alive in hell yet they will exist forever in death. Our earthly minds can't comprehend it.

Yes, Hell will have many evil people in it .....Hitler, Stalin , Pol Pot, Nero, Trump ( unless he repents) etc....
But there also will be Billions Of “ Moral “ People there.....the “ Good Neighbor Sam” type......worked hard, went to church, payed their taxes, etc....miracle workers will,be there.....some very , very decent folks who were great to be around....they loved their kids ...they “ did their best” to obey the commandments of God.....they made the Sermon on the Mound their Spiritual Benchmark..... they Turned Over New Leaves....yes, plenty of nice , decent and gentle-people will be-in Hell......it ain’t ALL going to be Charles Manson crazy, evil Monsters down there.
Thy are-not their because they lacked decency —- they are there NOT because Of Sins .....all Souls That are In Hell are there for ONE REASON——- Unbelief. All Of The Sins Of the World were paid for by Jesus......Everybody had the chance to “ cash in “ on what Jesus accomplished at the Cross. One cashes in with Faith ......all of Hell’s denizens lacked that .

Again, you are judging Trump with ZERO proof. Do you forgive Trump?

Luke 6:37 (NKJV)
37 Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

That Orange Aberration has never done anything to hurt me.....I have no need to forgive him...

Under Grace, Believers don’t have to forgive to be forgiven ....
They are ALREADY Forgiven—- Knowing THAT leads to forgiving others because you WANT to.....not because of a threat......
The Cross changed everything.....

No proof? Trump has gone on record as saying , “ I have no need to ask for forgiveness”....... does that sound like a Saved Christian to you ? He is a proven liar, a serial Adulterer who pays hush- money to whores , he is cruel to others ( just ask Mrs.Cruz about that one) and he thinks Christianity is Bull* ***”

So you claim to be exempt from all the NT warnings? I don't know anywhere in the NT that makes anyone exempt.
Luke 6:46 (NKJV)
46 But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say?

So you're saying God hasn't forgiven Trump. But God has forgiven you. Hmmm
Matthew 7:1-5 (NKJV)
1 "Judge not, that you be not judged.
2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.
3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?
4 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye?
5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

It doesn't appear to me that outer darkness is hell, but some metaphor. Is there scripture linking outer darkness to a hell?

And BTW we have spirit prison that Jesus visited 1 Peter 3:18-19.
And we have the lake of fire, and I think they are different, for the lake of fire is "prepared" for the devil and his angels. It doesn't say anything like that about spirit prison.
And we have hell cast into the lake of fire: Revelation 20:14

So it gets very confusing perhaps?

The NT speaks a lot about the eternal fire. I don't want to find out what it looks like first hand.
Revelation 20:10 (NKJV)
10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Ok, well isn't this topic about post resurrection?

"being in torments"
"he cried"
"I am tormented in this flame"
"you are tormented"
"this place of torment"

Luke 16:22-28 (NKJV)

When you're trying to depict the environment in hell, kcnalp, why in the world would you choose a blatant allegory to do so? Luke 16:22-28 has absolutely no bearing on this topic.
