Romans: Chapter 10 verse 9-10-13 GOD SAYS=

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him
from the dead, thou shalt be Saved. For with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession
is made unto Salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the
name of the Lord shall be Saved....................

---------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------

An example prayer for those that have never talked to God!

Heavenly Father:........................................... ...............................
I come to you in prayer asking for the forgiveness of
my Sins. I confess with my mouth and believe with my
heart that Jesus is your Son, And that he died on the
Cross at Calvary that I might be forgiven and have
Eternal Life in the Kingdom of Heaven. Father, I believe
that Jesus rose from the dead and I ask you right now
to come in to my life and be my personal Lord and
Savior. I repent of my Sins and will Worship you all the
day's of my Life!. Because your word is truth, I confess
with my mouth that I am Born Again and Cleansed
by the Blood of Jesus! In Jesus Name, Amen

A prayer more likely to save you is:

Dear Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I admit that I am a sinner in need of a Saviour and that You are that Saviour. I call upon Your Name for salvation. Please forgive me of all my sins and come into my heart and be my Lord and Saviour. I confess that You are the Son of God and I receive You as my Lord; I also confess that You are the Lord of all creation and now the Lord of my life. I believe that You died for my sins and rose again the third day. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and I will follow You all the days of my life. In Your Name, Amen.

Galatians 3:22, Matthew 1:21, Romans 10:13, 1 John 1:9, John 1:12, 1 John 4:15, Romans 10:9-12, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Luke 11:9-13, Matthew 5-7.

I think that in order to be born again you must serve God also and receive the fruits of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and learning about God brings salvation also.

Bearing the fruit of the Spirit is the result of being born again.

It should be clear (in Romans 10:13) that all a man must do in order to be saved is to call upon the name of the Lord. The Holy Spirit then enters into the heart and does the rest.

Romans, that's Paul right? Jesus himself taught that many will parish without good works: Matthew 25:35-46

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

And the book of Revelation teaches: Revelation 20:12

"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works."

What you're teaching is part of salvation, not its entirety.

I cannot be regenerated or renewed in the Holy Ghost by doing some good work. If I give $5 to the poor, or even $5,000,000, that is not going to make me born again.

Only faith in Jesus and what He did for us on the Cross can do that.

If we have the Spirit we will bear the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-24).

We obtain the Spirit through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone (Galatians 3:14, John 3:3, John 14:6).

We therefore do not save ourselves by bearing the fruit of the Spirit. For we bear the fruit of the Spirit because we have salvation; not the other way around.

On the day of judgment we will indeed be judged on the basis of the evidence that exists as to whether we had a genuine faith.

But the issue on the day of judgment (as to whether our names are written in the Book of Life) has not to do with whether or not we had works; but whether or not we had faith. The examination of our works will only be done in order to determine whether or not we had a genuine faith. And some, who have works, do not have their names written in the Book of Life because they do not have a genuine faith. While some, who do not have works, will enter in, having their names written therein, because they did have a genuine faith.

Because man looks on the outward appearance but God looks on the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). Our Lord is Omniscient and He knows whether someone has a genuine faith or not. I am certain that there will be people who received the Holy Spirit on their deathbeds because they called on the name of the Lord (and therefore they shall be saved, Romans 10:13); and although they will have no works to show for their faith on their day of judgment, they will still be saved; for that is the promise of Romans 10:13.

How about using a simple prayer that we “ KNOW” worked because Jesus said so?
Coming from a “ Contrite Heart”.... ( Sorry, But Only the Holy Spirit can give you this Heart .Remember, “ NOBODY comes to God , lest the Spirit draw him”, and “ THIS” is how the Spirit draws one— the Conviction That you are a Lost Sinner)....If one will cry out, “Lord Jesus , Have Mercy on me, a Sinner!” , He will be a Justified ( seen by God as Perfect) just like the Sinful, evil tax- collector in the Book of Matthew was...It ALL hinges upon this—- seeing that you are hopelessly Lost and MUST have a Savior, That “Savior” being Jesus Christ. God bless....

I like a lot of what you said but don't totally agree with that. For instance service to the Lord brings fruits of the Holy Spirit from my experience. Galatians 5:22-23. And being idle does not allow for salvation, whether by faith or not, unless you're disabled or something. And Jesus taught people who don't behave with his specified works don't survive the lake of fire.

Saying, "God be merciful to me a sinner" is fine and dandy, and may even suffice as a prayer of salvation.

However, in the formula that I have given, I have taken into account certain scriptures that promise salvation; so if you pray all of the prayer that I have given, you will have multiple promises that will procure for you a salvation that cannot be disputed by satan.

That's all that I'm saying. Someone who is, for example, disabled, is not excluded from the kingdom because they did no good works to save themselves.

Of course Jesus gave a parable that if you are given a talent to trade with, and then hide it in the sand, and give it back to the Lord when He comes back without any profits, you will be considered to be a slothful and lazy servant and will even be cast into outer darkness.

So, I believe that it is the attitude that saves a person and not what they do.

For the attitude will determine whether you go forth and produce fruit or whether you become stagnant (hiding your talent in the sand).

I do believe that real faith is an attitude that will cause a man to go forth and produce good fruit.

Nevertheless, Ephesians 2:9 is clear, that salvation is "not of works, lest any man should boast."

And therefore, if I have no works to show for my faith on the day of judgment, this in and of itself is not going to exclude me from having my name written in the Book of Life; and entrance into the kingdom.

I get a feeling of deja-vu about the OP.

Just a reminder
Jesus said He who believes and is baptized will be saved (Mk 16:16)
Peter wrote: Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you (1Pet 3:21)

Is that the same God that said He who believes and is baptized will be saved (Mk 16:16)?

That's not what Jesus said: He who believes and is baptized will be saved (Mk 16:16)

THINK and learn!!! Jesus spoke these words AFTER he had risen from the dead, when the New Covenant came into effect.
Peter wrote: Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you (1Pet 3:21) Did the Holy Spirit not inspire Peter to write that? Or do you think the Holy Spirit was in error?

Try to understand what baptism Peter is talking = NOT water baptism==="""not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:==========1Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us ("""not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,)""" by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

No, it is talking about water baptism.

Just look at the context in 1 Peter 3:20..."saved by water"...

While baptism does not remove the filth of the flesh, it does wash away sins (Acts of the Apostles 22:16).

Yes, Peter is talking about water baptism.
The people in the ark were saved though/by means of water. Look at Genesis and see what is going on.

Immediately before God tells Noah to build the Ark he explains what he is doing:
“In the eyes of God the earth was corrupt and full of lawlessness. When God saw how corrupt the earth had become, since all mortals led depraved lives on earth, he said to Noah: “I have decided to put an end to all mortals on earth; the earth is full of lawlessness because of them. So I will destroy them and all life on earth.” (Gen 6:11-13)

The water (the flood) destroyed the world with all it’s sin and iniquity. It was this that those in the Ark were saved from by means of water.

And as in other examples in the OT the pre-figuring was physical, in the NT the anti-type (baptism) is spiritual.
And it saves us by clearing out the sin and iniquity in us. As Peter goes on to say it is an appeal to God for a clear conscience - because our sins are forgiven.

It is this same Peter that said at Pentecost
Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. (Acts 2:38)

And Paul recounted about his own baptism
Now, why delay? Get up and have yourself baptised and your sins washed away, calling upon his name. (Acts 22:16).
After (water) baptism we have a clear conscience because our sins have been forgiven. That is what Peter is saying.
