Who are the ten kings of prophecy? Who's the 7th king? Who's the eighth king?

Revelation 17:10-13
10There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only a little while.11The beast that was, and now is not, is an eighth king, who belongs to the other seven and is going into destruction. 12The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but will receive one hour of authority as kings, along with the beast. 13These kings have one purpose: to yield their power and authority to the beast.

Let's unpack it.

10 kings support the eighth beast still in the future.
7th king was the first beast in Rev. 13
History points to Rome. Rome will revive again and become the eighth which is of the old, the 7th.

Rev.17 is yet to come.

... it's apparent that the U.S. has fallen from it's preeminence or shortly will fall if Trump & Pence are murdered in the streets. And when the U.S. and/or Allies attack some target in the Middle East (Dan. 11:40), Russia ("one is")and Iran will converge on the northern half of Israel, and Sudan and Libya will converge on the southern half. And the China ("yet to come and shall remain a little while") will spank Russia, whereupon the U.N. will "heal" Russia.

And be careful of people who parrot the lies they've accepted!

Like most Prophecy, this is a sequence of events or in this case; of the rulers who have been and are yet to come.
Revelation 17:10-11 is past history. proved by verse 10, that says...one is now reigning....or...one is.... The Roman Emperor's.

Then from v 12, the future to us about the forthcoming One World Govt, is described. Also as Daniel 7:25-27 prophesies.

I'm unpacking this as we go along, comparing scripture to scripture. I will pull a response together as I can. I tend to lean toward the historical interpretation. It's hard to keep the distinction between beasts, which are generally ruling kingdoms, and horns, which are kings ruling these kingdoms at particular times during a kingdom's existence.

... and I'm quite confident that I missed A LOT of scenarios, but do we really care about what men say or what GOD says? And where it seems REALLY CLEAR to me what the next year has in store, how many Christians turn to the BIBLE for guidance? Or better stated, how many Christians know that GOD has already laid out our future in the Scriptures?

To which I would reply: NOT TOO MANY. Because if they did, they'd be preparing their household:

1. Leave the large cities (Rev. 18:4)
2. Prepare their household for Shelter; Food; Water (preferably and underground source); Fuel (500gal of propane never goes bad); Necessities (including Medications); and a "Sword" (knowing that TWO is one and ONE is none, because they often malfunction)
3. Know that we're already some 30 months into the 42 month Tribulation (Psalms & Rev. 13:5)
4. Know that we have some 8 to 9 months until we can't "buy or sell", and would be -TIME- motivated
5. Know that there's no "rapture exit" during the Tribulation, and that it's a Post Millennial event.

... but this all takes work, and it's easier to IMAGINE than DO!

Addressing the OP, good topic, and reading some of the topic responses, not saying that any is right or wrong, but consider this, the seventh King is the eighth King... (smile). JESUS/YESHUA is the seventh, and the eighth KING, because of his natural death from flesh and blood, and now reign as the eighth.

a suggestion.....the battle is between God and Satan transferred to God's people and Satan's. The issue is the Gospel. It has always been the Gospel and its implications which fundamentally expose Satan's charade. He wars against those who threaten his kingdom.

Interpreting Prophecy as if Jesus was a side show or even irrelevant takes the key player out of the equation. With the key player marginalised or gone the intent of Prophecy is missed.

If these factors are not understood, Prophecy will be interpreted in a secular fashion thereby missing the sign posts that are specifically for the purpose of encouragement and letting God's people know accurately where they stand in Earth's timeline.

Rev 17:16-17 And the ten horns which you saw upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. (17) For God has put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

The number 10 actually speaks of fullness, horns actually speak of force, and crowns actually speak of sovereignty, so in Revelation the 10 kings actually represent the full force of humanistic tyranny which inevitably brings down metaphorical Babylon when God authorises this.

If you're going to GRAB ancient nations, START WITH THE FIRST, and proceed from there:

Or if your history is within a NEW ERA in Government, then start there:

Arbitrarily assigning NUMBERS to INSIGNIFICANT KINGDOMS is no different that having owned two dozen cars in your lifetime, and only acknowledge 10 because you ran out of lines on your notepad.

But what made Babylon different from the PRIOR sequence of kingdoms was the METROPOLIS MODEL:

The Babylonian Empire was “the first true metropolis in western history, a business as well as an administrative center”[1] -- the prototype of governments as we see them to this day. The Babylonians controlled trade and commerce across western Asia, from the Mediterranean Sea to the Persian Gulf, building highways, legislating business, and beautifying the capital.[2]

Of course the commentators are oblivious to facts that even Comic Book writers see, -- that the World's Governments ALL operate under the Metropolis Model, and so they named the World Greatest City "METROPOLIS" (New York City), and the place where Superman® worked is called "The Daily Planet".

And where Nebuchadnezzar built the FIRST AMUSEMENT PARK (The Hanging Gardens), our modern governments build SPORTS ARENAS and regulate the Ounces of Dispensed sugary carbonated beverages.

So the commentator LIES are parroted by people who don't know any better, but Scripture is substantiated by History:
