Double Standard Or Double Minded?

In the Book of James 1:5-8; Warns of a double minded man, one must ask can a government also be double minded? We need not look far for that answer. What about double standard ? Well recently again, we need not look to far. Lets see: recently the Prime Minister of Isreal visited the Oval Office, in the White House. No press, no formal reception, no cameras as he met with the President. From what I hear on the news , that is the ones who covered the Prime Minister's Visit cameraless, the Prime Minister was sort of escorted out the back door, where the White House trash bins are kept. Now when the Leader of Afganistan arrived for a similar visit at the White House and also the Prime Minister of India, and more recently the President of Mexico were given pomp, bands, flags, etc. oh yes cameras were allowed.

I agree, sad thing is he has the lamestream media helping him. Lamestream media= CBS,NBC,ABC,PBS, MSNBC, CNN,C-Span, New York Times and others, I do favor FoxNews though, I believe Fox is fair and balanced. During George W. Bush's term the NY Times reported 1,000 American casualities in Iraq on the front page, recently they reported 1,000 American casualities in Afganistan burried on the eleventh page (just this week, after the D.O.D.'s report).

For sure. This administration and the UN are not too comforting to Isreal. No matter how much of Isreal is stripped from God's People, the Palestinians will keep pushing for more occupation. They call Isreal the occupiers when it is visa-versa as God's Word tells us. It is pretty obvious who this US Administration backs, unfortunately not Isreal. Too bad this Administration and Congress thinks we common Americans do not know what time of the day it is.

If you two would listen to Obama, He is trying to do some good things. His adminastration is going to oppose that prayer ruling also. Now if we don't complain, and pray as God said, faith goes a long way into God getting involved, and getting things fixed.

Also remember that we may be approaching the end....................... I would not want to show up to Heaven, and have to give an account for speaking evil of those in Charge, only to find that God is the one that set everything up for certain events to take place.

You know those who would like our country to be other than what our founding fathers designed as a country , with the freedoms and Christian Principles we were founded on would love nothing better than to silenced the Church of Jesus Christ, like the people for the American Way, and the ACLU, Lamestream media, Hollywood. I seem to remember that religion during Jesus Ministry on Earth wanted the same for Him, silenced and back on His carpenter's bench. How about Jeremiah, reminding Isreal, Juda how sinful they were, bringing the downgrading and eventual captivity of Isreal for evils against God. I wonder how Jeremiah felt standing before the Throne of God, did God shake His finger at Jeremiah and say now Jeremiah you mus'nt do that. Now go into the temple, close the door and hope all will be ok. This is why America is where it is today, the Lord called the Church to action and the church like a good little church kept their mouth closed, went behind the church doors on the comfy pews hoping all would go away. It says to pray for them, give thanks for them ALL that are in Authority. That you may lead a quite and peaceable life. Not only that but in Honesty. I am a man of faith, God never asked me if I liked everything......... Not once. God said if I do what he said, he will always, and without fail perform what He said he would perform.

If I was to speak against that which I give thanks for and pray for, then I am double minded, and have no faith in what I pray.

We should speak out? I think you would be surprised on how many Christian politicians we do have, and how many people God has anointed and put in place for these people. They were called to witness just like Jeremiah, the rest of the Church ought to obey the scriptures I gave above.

It's not that the church is not speaking out. It's that most churches lack any faith in anything they pray. Only someone the feels the need to speak out has no faith in their prayer............Or are they even giving thanks for the Obama administration, and praying for him? I myself can't pray for someone to succeed and talk negative about them.

I know who you are talking about reference to the porn store, been there saw what was done. What your saying brother, we just pray and whatever happens happens , give God thanks for it. We should not say anything about abortion, after all it has been approved by our Governing Leaders, actually we shouldn't vote against them either on election day. Our Founding Fathers disobeyed British Law by revolting against England and the Crown, never Declaed our Independence, after all they should have just prayed and obey the King of England. The slaves should never have been freed, after all they were approved by government. As a preacher I should not preach against laws that violate God's Law just pray that Government is successful in whatever actions it does regardless if it is right or wrong according to the Word of God.It's like a farmer praying for a good crop this year, there is the land, the seed, the water , all the Lord supplied for him for a crop but he sits and just keeps praying and believing God will supply a good crop, he prays and prays believing for the crop, he need not pick up the hoe or the seeds, after all the Lord said he would supply it. Another example, the government comes along and says to the farmer well we know your farm has been in the family for years but we are taking it Emminate Domain because a big developer wants to build a mall. The farmer shpuldn't say nothing just pray and obey. The Developer gave the elected officials alot of money for their succesful bid for election with the promise that the developer would be given the farmers land if they were elected. I respect the Office of President but I do not trust who occupies it now, and the way he treated the Prime Minister of Isreal is unexcusable. Sometimes God does call us to pray and act, like the farmer with the seeds, hoe and land. When I counsel a young lady who is in trouble and being encouraged to have an abortion, to instead go to a teen pregnancy center and not harm the life God placed in her womb, even though I pray for government by faith, my counsel is against government decree. Should I have told her to do what the government says is legal, because I'm praying by faith that the Lord will touch the hearts of those in leadership to take another look, which could take many elections until God places the right persons in office to look at it.Now I don't think it will help the baby in the young lady's womb. There is no way I could do that, and stand at the pulpit without guilt. Even if I am going against the law set forth by this administration. Letting the two souls before me in this situation down, allowing the crime of abortion to happen because the government says it is legal, I have to act as my heart, tells me.

Heck, even the Catholics pissed me off. Statue worship, and Holy Water.................after reading chick tracks, I found out they messed the bible up, or so I thought.

You know, of course I would talk a women out of an abortion, I even try to get people to see that all this sex before marriage, just leads to decay, and death in their life. They can replace that empty feeling with our Jesus. Abortion is just a symptom of sin. I use to say what you say. I respect the office, not the man. sounded good to me, and it gets me off the hook. So I thought.

The Lord had to deal with me. You see, you can't hate the person that passed the abortion laws, you can't hate the president. Of course I would deny that I hated them, but I really did. What they were doing was not right.

Without love, your faith will not work..............I may not agree with the President in everything, but I can still love and hope the best for him. I will not speak bad about those I love.

ah, the Lord asked me. Who am I really wrestling with? The man, or the spirit behind the man? Satan could care less about rally's, and protest. In fact, speaking against constantly just makes these people even less likely to hear us. One thing though Satan can not deal with. That is the greater one inside of us, and the Love of God. Faith in God's word. For that, he has no weapons against.

I think we agree on the current status of the body of Christ in America, but Obama is not the cause. I don't agree with his politics, nor when he says that America was not founded on Christian principles but I would have to agree that America is no longer a Christian nation. It might be the religion of preference at the moment but again I don't think this has anything to do with the body of Christ. I agree with you about God placing tyrants over His people but it is more than just punishment because we strayed it is for correction. Many Christians today are ignorant of God's plan and purpose for us and it comes down to a lack of prayer and misunderstanding God's heart and the scriptures. So is the answer to rebel against the tyrant leaders that God put over us or is it to "pray, seek God's face, humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways"?

Many of the people who cried out "hosanna" later yelled "crucify Him". Maybe America's purpose has been fulfilled.

Brother Mike, I agree that we should look at others as Jesus sees them. He loves the sinner, very much but hates the sin. I admit at times I do find it difficult to follow through, (proof I haven't made it yet). One reason people who know me, know I do not like the title of Reverend but prefer Pastor instead. I feel there is only One who is worthy of Reverend. Even accept brotherLes or sinner saved by grace is fine with me. I will call on the Lord though to guide me through this flaw I admit to.

Psalm 22:28 KJV; Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set. Proverbs 23:10 KJV; Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless. See Deuteronomy 19:14; and Deuteronomy 27:17. These can mean the landmarks our forefathers set before us; Agree?
Wouldn't the Christian Values found in many of our founding papers,( US Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, etc.) ? . These certainly are landmarks set forth by our founding fathers to many Americans and I would hope American Chritians. When some one comes into office and tries to remove them, or reinvent them for the sake of ideology, knowing they where created under cover of prayer for Divine Guidance, as I remember the very first session of the Continental Congress beginning with prayer.That would cause one to come to the conclusion that our foundations or landmarks was indeed set forth by the Hand of the Lord.

Thank you jiggyfly, for your thoughts of which I agree with you mostly. I think that what is happening through both Congress and the White House is throwing more wood on the fire. There is many responsibilities to be passed around as far as where America is today, both sides of the aisle, along with those who allowed it. After all this is a democracy governed by the people. Like I said much fault to go around. Should we not at least throw some water on the fire. Make an effort to put the fire out, it was once said;"( silence means acceptance), believe many in government count on that saying, to get their agenda approved.

I guess who cares, as long as your state is not dealing with it.

These are the things that make me wonder if we should not start running for offices...........that could be the answer. Instead of just laying around, we need to get into these offices.

Man, we love to witness to sinners and love on them, but when they get some office of Power, then all of a sudden we expect them not to act like sinners? Something is off in our thinking.

Just love them............and believe the best for them.............. even if they are dumb as rocks.

Brother Mike, I do believe that your statement that Christians should run for office is a good one.

It would at least be a step in the right direction and a huge move away from the religious apathy that seems to have seized our churchs.

At the very least, people should be their own lobbyist and complain to their elected officials and complain often.

After all, our representatives are PAID to listen to us aren't they?

I talk and write constantly about communicating with our representatives and I'm often shocked at the answers I get.

Who? (Meaning they don't know who their representatives are.)

Why bother, they're all crooked. (Yes bother, and no they aren't all crooked. This is a lazy man's excuse for inaction.)

My vote cancels your vote. (This means what, that I ought not to have exercised my civic duty or that your candidate is the only one worthy of office?)

God is in control. (This is the ultimate religious cop out for slackness and irresponsibility.)

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Gen 1:26

I note the scripture here that says humans are to have dominion over all the earth.
That means US, and to fail to exercise that dominion is to allow lawless men to take control of our lives (which they are doing even as we discuss these issues).
