In my house
We'll just have to agree to disagree on this topic. I don't believe Judas was ever a believer that Jesus was the Christ, certainly not the Christ presented in OT scripture. But I'll add one additional verse that deals with Judas and it comes from Jesus again, this time in Matthew 26:23-24. Just for reference:

"And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray Me. The Son of Man goeth as it is written of Him: but WOE unto that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born."

Yes, I know of that verse. But it was also Jesus who told Judas to go ahead and betray Him.

John 13:27 And after the morsel, Satan entered into him. And Jesus said to him: That which thou dost, do quickly.

It was Judas' choice to betray Jesus and Jesus knew of this betrayal even before He called him to be an Apostle. If Judas had not done what he did, Christ would not have been arrested, condemned to die, and redeemed mankind. God used Judas' bad choice to bring salvation to mankind. And if Judas had not made the other bad choice of killing himself, he would have been one of those preaching the Good News to the world. We cannot judge whether Judas is in Hell or not. Only God knows. As for whether he is a believer or not, because he was one of the 12 who spent so closely with Jesus in His company, I would give him the benefit of the doubt that he knew Christ more than any disciple who only heard Christ speak but never spent any time with Him. God bless. :)

In Christ,
Selene

I know it isn't really for us to say wether this man is saved or dammed. He betrayed our lord for 30 pieces of silver and we know also that he was a thief but after our lord Jesus christ was cruficief Judas repented what he had done and gave the money back to the Temple Elders/ This man is reviled and usually seena s one of the most evil people in history but the other day I wa reading the KJ and it clearly said he repented and it made me wonder if he could be saved.

I understand that wether someone is saved or dammed is not for us to say and I know that it was silly for me to ask this question about adam and Eve, but I'd be interested to see what other people think with regards to Judas and his eternity.

I thought I was done with this subject, then out of the blue, the Lord gave me scripture from Acts to Psalm...

Acts 1: [sup]20[/sup]"For," said Peter, "it is written in the book of Psalms,
" 'May his place be deserted;
let there be no one to dwell in it, and,
" 'May another take his place of leadership.'

Psalm 109: [sup]1[/sup] O God, whom I praise,
do not remain silent,

[sup]2[/sup] for wicked and deceitful men
have opened their mouths against me;
they have spoken against me with lying tongues.

[sup]3[/sup] With words of hatred they surround me;
they attack me without cause.

[sup]4[/sup] In return for my friendship they accuse me,
but I am a man of prayer.

[sup]5[/sup] They repay me evil for good,
and hatred for my friendship.

[sup]6[/sup] Appoint an evil man to oppose him;
let an accuser stand at his right hand.
[sup]7[/sup] When he is tried, let him be found guilty,
and may his prayers condemn him.

[sup]8[/sup] May his days be few;
may another take his place of leadership.

[sup]9[/sup] May his children be fatherless
and his wife a widow.

[sup]10[/sup] May his children be wandering beggars;
may they be driven from their ruined homes.

[sup]11[/sup] May a creditor seize all he has;
may strangers plunder the fruits of his labor.

[sup]12[/sup] May no one extend kindness to him
or take pity on his fatherless children.

[sup]13[/sup] May his descendants be cut off,
their names blotted out from the next generation.

[sup]14[/sup] May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the LORD;
may the sin of his mother never be blotted out.

[sup]15[/sup] May their sins always remain before the LORD,
that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth

[sup]16[/sup] For he never thought of doing a kindness,
but hounded to death the poor
and the needy and the brokenhearted.

[sup]17[/sup] He loved to pronounce a curse—
may it come on him;
he found no pleasure in blessing—
may it be far from him.
[sup]18[/sup] He wore cursing as his garment;
it entered into his body like water,
into his bones like oil.
[sup]19[/sup] May it be like a cloak wrapped about him,
like a belt tied forever around him.
[sup]20[/sup] May this be the LORD's payment to my accusers,
to those who speak evil of me.

I truly believe by this scripture there is alot about Judas we did not know

God Bless,
Mercy

Hi, all. I'm new here. I was just reading through this discussion. This is my first post here. More Scripture to shed His Light on the questions being considered.

Ephesians 6:10-12 KJV
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

John 13:26-27 KJV
26 Jesus answered, "He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it." And when He had dipped the sop, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, "That thou doest, do quickly."

The battle of the entire Bible is stated by God to the serpent in Genesis 3:15 KJV And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her Seed; It shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel.

Almost the entire Book of Job is spent with men trying to blame flesh Job or God instead of satan for the misery in Job's life. This did not please God.

Job 41:7-11 KJV 7 And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of Me the thing that is right , as My servant Job hath. 8 Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept : lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of Me the thing which is right , like my servant Job. 9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went , and did according as the LORD commanded them: the LORD also accepted Job . 10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. 11 Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.

2 Peter 3:9 KJV The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Job 41:11 KJV Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.

Praise our Father for His long suffering. Even Job's old friends and his family that abandoned him until he was restored and weren't there to learn the lessons that Job and his 'friends' that were there, learned, "bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him" It was not God who brought the evil on Job. It was satan.

John 17:12 KJV While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Thy name: those that Thou gavest Me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

Perdition=#684 Greek Strong's Concordance-apolia-ruin or loss, damnable, destruction, die, perdition, perish, pernicious ways, waste

2 Thessalonians 2:3 KJV Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God or that is worshipped: so that he as God sitteth in the Temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Is that man of sin, the son of perdition, the one who sitteth in the Temple of God shewing himself that he is God, Judas of Iscariot? or is that satan?
==================================
Regarding charges of murder, or suicide, those who bring those accusations must also follow God's Law.

Deuteronomy 5:20 KJV Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Deuteronomy 19:15 KJV [b]One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity[/b], or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

Matthew 27:3-5 KJV 3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that He was condemned, repented himself , and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. 5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

hanged #519 Greek Strong's Concordance=to choke-as in choked with extreme grief

The ones who said "what is that to us? see thou to that" are the ones who laid in wait and finally condemned Jesus. They could not have a man walking around who knew they had laid in wait to condemn an innocent man. They had reason to ensure Judas' quick demise and they already showed themselves to be the sort that laid in wait to take innocent life. Combined with Acts 1:18 where Judas' burst asunder and his bowels gushed out, does that make the charges of suicide less sure?

The Potter's Field that blood money bought is the field of broken clay pottery and vessels. Our flesh bodies are the clay vessels of our souls in this flesh earth age. Ecclesiastes 12:6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain or the wheel broken at the istern. 7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was; and the spirit shall return unto God Who gave it.
Who is our Potter? Isaiah 64:8 KJV But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Acts 1:15-19 KJV 15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said , (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,) 16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled , which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. 17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry. 18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out . 19 And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say , The field of blood. 20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein : and his bishoprick let another take.

bishoprick-#1984 Greek Strong's Concordance-episkope-the office of a bishop

Whose blood bought us, bought and paid for that Potter's Field. Who became the Bishop of our souls?

1 Peter 2: 21 KJV For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth: 23 Who, when He was reviled , reviled not again ; when He suffered , He threatened not; but committed Himself to Him that judgeth righteously 24 Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed . 25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

John 3:15-17 KJV 15 That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
