So @JohnDB, @historyb, @Michie,.. I had my first fillings today and I'm not as numb as I thought I would be. (Although drinking water is currently tough and I'm glad I ate lunch before my appointment lol) The current mouth guard that I have isn't doing enough for me I'm afraid. My jaw keeps making popping and I have ear pain, ringing, and dizziness almost every day again. 
The really good news is that my dentist doesn't want me to put up with all of this longer than I have to so since I could only have the right side of my mouth be filled today, next Thursday I will be getting the left side filled in and have my custom made mouth guard filled and hopefully be a lot better then.
