Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and [some] of them ye will kill and crucify, and [some] of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and will persecute from city to city;(matth23:34)
As said above , it is clear that we can possibly have prophets on earth, Do you agree ? Give evidence of your statements.

Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

If prophets were not around today, then the full perfecting of the Saints would not be possible today. We would have a tool missing.

Deuteronomy 18:21-22, "And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

The true Prophet of the Lord predicts that which does come to pass. If the Prophet's predictions fail, they are exposed as NOT of God.

Jeremiah 28:9, "The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him."

A true Prophet will be 100% accurate. there is absolutely no margin for error.

Some other verse one might examine

Daniel 10:17, "For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me."

The true Prophet will collapse with absolutely no strength in him/her
short of breath

2 Peter 1:20, "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation."
A true Prophet NEVER gives his private interpretation. He only shares what the Lord reveals. Scripture defines Scripture, not man.

2 Peter 1:21, "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."

A true Prophet only prophecies in the name of the Lord. He only seeks to glorify the Lord. He will never seek glory to himself. NEVER! never brags of his own deeds

Daniel 10:18, "Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,"

Once "touched in the "vision" the Prophet receives supernatural strength.

1 Corinthians 14:3-4, "But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church."

A true Prophet will look to edify, comfort, and uplift the entire Church body of Christ by his testimony as well as exhort them.
he never speaks to edify himself or his private personal choice of churchs but the entire church body of Christ

Isaiah 8:20, "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."

A true Prophet keeps God's Law, and abides by the testimony of the Bible Prophets as well.
If a Prophet does not agree with the Bible Prophet's or does not keep God's Ten Commandments, he is a false Prophet.
The Law is fullfilled in Christ it is not changed

Matthew 7:15-20, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits
. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."

Now I see where your coming from on this issue Christina and I can identify your trouble. You seem to think fruit is keeping the law rather than denying self and having the fruit of HolySpirit manifest in it's (self) place.

On another thread I asked you where in scripture did Balaam utter a false prophecy the answer is he didn't. He was called by God yet Christ calls him a false prophet. Do you know why? Balaam's character and motivation.

Oh, foolish Christina! What magician has cast an evil spell on you? For you used to see the meaning of Jesus Christ's death as clearly as though I had shown you a signboard with a picture of Christ dying on the cross. Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by keeping the law? Of course not, for the Holy Spirit came upon you only after you believed the message you heard about Christ. Have you lost your senses? After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?

I had thought earlier that your struggle was with a lack of understanding the covenant with Israel through Moses and the new covenant of grace through Christ, it seems here that my thinking was right ( at least this once). I would love to discuss these two covenants with you more in another thread, who knows maybe I can help you gain some understanding.

Christianity and Judaism are prophetic religions. Those that speak from the word of God speak prophetically about morality, repentance, holiness and the testimony of the saints.

The life of an OT prophet was a hard one. No popular vocation this, many of them were persecuted by the same people they were sent to help.
Their messages were often hard and ill received. Not fun at all to have a REAL prophet around town.

However, if all you want to see is a magician, I suggest a trip to Vegas.

Acts 2:17 - 18 (Amplified) And it shall come to pass in the last days, God declares That I will pour out of My Spirit upon all mankind, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy ...... I am going to stop here .. you can read the rest ... can we possibly have prophets on earth? Absolutely .... they are these people who God's Spirit is poured out "onto" ... the big question is who is going to dare stand up and tell what God has given them and who will go forth and tell the nations? and who will listen? There is a price that will be paid and a cost you will not fathom if you step out ... even your life! Who dares to answer this call?

The time is coming soon when the last two prophets of God will come, also the remnant Jewish crowd of 144000....these are seen in the first part of the 1260 day period of the 7 year tribulation.....the 2 witnesses are killed off and thrown on street and not afforded a burial place..this happens on Antichrist rise to power....and he is going to use this murderous act and tactic so that no one will challenge or defy the might of the wild beast. But, these men rise again at the 7th trumpet and rise to Christ and watch the fate fall upon all their enemies....

It is a possibility the are true prophets on earth, as some people may not be where of them! We can read in some of theses passages there are many who come to deceives people, we can read in some of these Versus.

Matt 24:4-5 "Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many.

Matt 24:6 See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass,

Matt 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

And we go a little further we can see a little revelation!

We read in Prov 29:18 Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.

Or in Acts 13:1 Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

Here we read in 1 Thess 5: 20 Do not despise prophecies

Here the word tells us when a prophets doses comes we Should listen to what he say, but as we know many will come to deceives many people, but the ones that come to here for example that we can hear the word of God or by reading the word.
We can read is some of the passages or Versus!

Isaiah 50:4- 5 "The Lord God has given Me The tongue of the learned, That I should know how to speak A word in season to him who is weary. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear To hear as the learned. The Lord God has opened My ear; And I was not rebellious, Nor did I turn away.

Isaiah 55:3 Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you-- The sure mercies of David.

There are many versus give us when and how the a prophets on earth can be a true prophet. These are the instrument of a true prophet.

1 Cor 14: 2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for
1 Cor 12:8 - 10 no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, o another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

We know there are 2 prophets at the end of things. So we know we must have them all the way through to the end:

Rev. 11:10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

Prophets and people that live close to God will not have an easy life:

Matt. 5:11,12 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

The definition of a reproach is something said against you to make you look, basically, ridiculous. It is meant to embarrse you and make you look wrong.
