You are free to live in sickness and poverty if you so choose but I choose to believe for and accept the blessings, protection, and gifts from God!

Do you not know that Jesus said we would always have the poor around us?

6 "But Jesus said, “Leave her alone; why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful deed to Me. 7 The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them whenever you want. But you will not always have Me. 8 She has done what she could to anoint My body in advance of My burial.…"
Mark 14:6-8

There are 3rd world countries that have more faith than most of the Western world (ly?) has in the tip of a fingernail. I say that is because of their gratitude for the smallest of things. A kid in a poor country could be given an old plastic pop bottle and play with it, with glee, until it is shredded! Gratitude.
Sick?? Well YEAH, we ARE still in our mortal bodies...hello! "THINK" Why did not Paul just heal Timothy instead of telling him to take a little wine for his stomach issues?? Hmm. I am going to guess that you will come back with another one liner of the same that you always do. You only use a very small handful of scriptures and they are always the same.
Be grateful for what He has already given you! Why do you seek more??

You say that you are rich...

"17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have grown wealthy and need nothing. But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, white garments so that you may be clothed and your shameful nakedness not exposed, and salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.…"
Revelation 3:17-18

And, re-read the poor widows mite story again...perhaps it might give you a wider range of scripture and reality.

…42Then one poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amounted to a small fraction of a denarius. 43 Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more than all the others into the treasury. 44For they all contributed out of their surplus, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on.”…
Mark 12:42-43

Who do you think was more righteous, the rich out of their abundance or the poor widow giving out of her POVERTY? I can tell you, it was NOT the Pharisees.
She obviously had faith that God would care for her needs no matter what. THAT is true faith in action. BTW- He does NOT bless us with money and things to consume on our selves, it is to be used for the furthering of His Kingdom. Be grateful for what He gives and does. This prosperity teaching is something I was caught up in in the early 90's. And let me tell you, how grateful that He answered my prayers for discernment.

We all need to remain teachable, no matter how long someone has been saved, it should not matter at all. God can use a child to speak to your heart/spirit. You can remain cemented in the very tiny area of well, basically only two doctrines...pre trib rapture and prosperity gospel, or you can seek ALL of Him diligently. Seek the giver, not the giving. He gives all the time! We say Wow and thank you Jesus! Gratitude is what our Father desires from us, rich or poor.

God want's us to seek "spiritual" things, not worldly things. He blesses as He sees fit, we do not demand things from Him.

God Bless and grow in Him

James 4:11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

James 4:12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

3John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.====Psalm 112:3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever. Psalm 35:27 Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
Yes!!! God wants to bless His family with health and prosperity but you are free to reject the gifts of God and live poor and sick= your choice!

If God blesses a person with health and prosperity---Praise God!

Teh health and prosperity gospel is heretical but there is nothing wrong if one is blessed with these things and comes about them honestly.

Yes we will always have poor unbelievers and even believers that do not understand what God has for them.

There is one thing in the entire universe that should be coveted by all, and that is wisdom. Sick, naked, poor, unattractive, destitute or alone, wisdom is the only thing that defines a man's purpose and worth. For even death bears no threat, when one has the wisdom of the Gospel of Christ.

You are misguided Gsyms, verging on depraved. Your worthless, subversive and incessant adoration of money, has and will, do more harm than good.

I don't agree with the Prosperity Message, but I do think some Prosperity Ministers do have a "gift of faith." They may get some amazing answers to prayer. But I think it's discouraging to some when they make a doctrine out of it, because it doesn't work for all. I thank God they're at least preaching the Gospel of Christ!

There is certainly a biblical basis for being prospered for our obedience, such as in the Law of Moses. Israel was promised blessings if they obeyed God's word.

So it's true that prosperity, of some kind, will fall upon those who are obedient in the covenant of Christ. I just won't say precisely what that blessing will look like. Christians sometimes suffer, as well. And it's my burden to strengthen them, so that they aren't disillusioned by it.

I agree. Their only error is not "prosperity," but believing we will be given our "carnal" wants if we just have enough faith, rather than our needs as the Word says.

Oh, I'm sorry, I'm not suppose to denounce perverted doctrine, for fear that I may offend someone? Like I said GISMYS, you sound misguided and corrupt.

So, are some saying that poor people lack faith in Christ? So how come Paul went around all the gentile churches and raised funds for the relief of the believers in Jerusalem who did not have the resources to feed themselves and their families? Does this mean that the Jerusalem believers lost their faith in Christ that they needed to accept charitable funds to meet their needs? Also, what about African believers who have so little that they can't afford more than just a tin shack often without walls for Sunday worship and have just planks for seats in their churches? Does this mean that they don't have faith in Christ? I think this prosperity teaching lacks reality and would be laughed at in many areas of the third world where there is widespread poverty among ordinary people.

believers that do not understand what God has for them.

brother my heart goes out for you it truly does. You are deceived and do not know it, you seem sincere. But study the Apostle Paul he knew GOd better then all of us and look at his life.

He considered it a Joy to suffer for CHrist, he was thrown in jail, stoned and left for dead, he lost or gave up all his earthly material things, all were considered dun compared to what he was looking forward to.

Remember Paul was in constant pain from a thorn GOd had put in him so he would rely on GOd and his grace.

How could you rationalize your line of thinking with the Poor sick apostle Paul?

All the great Apostles gave up everything to follow CHrist, would you give up your earthly riches to do the same???

YOu see you keep telling everyone on this thread to be poor, yet that is not what anyone is saying, no one is saying it is good to be poor, wonder why you seem to be wishing that on people??

Proverbs 30:7-9
Two things I ask of you; deny them not to me before I die: Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.

Mat 19:16, And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
Mat 19:17, And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Mat 19:18, He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
Mat 19:19, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mat 19:20, The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
Mat 19:21, Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
Mat 19:22, But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

Mat 19:23, Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 19:24, And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Mat 19:25, When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
Mat 19:26, But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Mat 19:27, Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
Mat 19:28, And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Mat 19:29, And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
Mat 19:30, But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

Not when he promotes this subversive corruption as Gospel. You're right about patience, but not about his condoning a drive or covetousness, for avarice and mammon. It is harder for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to find salvation. There should be no tolerance for his perverted views, only unless he was 12 or 16 years old, otherwise he should be old enough to know how offensive wealth, in its various forms, can be.
