It has come to my attention through personal conversations as well as a lot of internet surfing, blogging and chatting that there are A LOT of Christians who are claiming to have visions and dreams.

These visions and dreams usually fall into two general catagories; interpretation of scripture and predictions of future events.

A lot of the former can be read in these pages and it isn't my intent to get into them here. However I would like to invite the reader to explore the subject of personal prophetic revelations of future events. I'd like to hear from those who have good reason to believe them and those who have sound reasons not to.

Do these experiences and/or revelations have basis in current events and actual divine revelation?
Are they plausible or are they a bunch of hooie?

For the most part, I'm concerned that the bulk of the prophecies I've heard are rather dark; Christian persecution, horrendous natural disaster, terrible cautions, etc.

I can't ask something of you that I'd not give myself, so here's my contribution....

I have been moved within my own spirit the following words from the Lord, "The time is coming and now is when all men shall be required to fight for their salvation from the top of their skin to the center of their spirit." I have personally attended churches from central Florida to the California coast where the congregations feel they are being called to a new level of holiness and righteousness.

I understand that there has always been a call to discipleship, but this is different. It is more intense and more immediate. I feel the pressure of the Holy Spirit constantly to work unto rightness before Him. This is more, much more than a certainty of justification before the Almighty. In addition, I must also confess to you all that I am not alone in this effort. He is with me in it quite deeply.

Is this just me? Am I suffering from some latent guilt for which I feel the necessity to reform?
Is it a mental anomaly which I alone bear?
Do I just need to go on a binge next weekend to clear my brain?

Or is there something behind this? Has God really called us all to greater effort to follow Him in truth and by faith?

Are terrible things just around the corner or have we all just been watching too much television?

Micah 4:1 ... But in the last days it shall come to pass that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills ; and people shall flow to it.
Acts 2:17- 18 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophecy, and your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams (v18) And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: .......
YES! a definite yes .... the dreams and visions that are happening are a sign to us of His close return JESUS IS RETURNING soon! the time is in His hands we are not to try and discern the day and time but only the season! I have experienced dreams and visions and I have others who have had simular dreams and visions. God is preparing us to learn to listen to Him.
Does the battle rage heavier in the heavenlies? Absolutely! Is there dark spiritual forces at work here on planet Earth? more so then ever, they are gearing up for the final harvest .... who can they deceive and destroy before Christ's return? There is an all out war staging to break loose in the heavenlies for one final time! And we ... "us humans" who are existing in this awesome time and era of history will see things never seen before, we will be part of the end of the beginning of a new reign and a new time. We who have accepted that Jesus blood paid the price for our life and have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savoir of our life, are being trianed at this very moment to gear up, get ready and be on guard because our Redeemer draws near!

I have first hand evidence of an associate of mine who was given precise evidence (from above) regarding a big news event over 7 years ago. It is amazing in detail , it is provable and factual, it is 100% scriptural , It stands up to all scrutiny. A jury of Atheists would have to endorse it .

It has a prophetic context , it involves Israel (mainly) and all who care of things Israel. It is positive in context , the news is good for Israel and the believer. It also proves the accuracy of an obscure ancient portion of scripture. Profound.

It has not been made public yet. The receiver of the information has not been given directions to proceed. He has a frustrating and peaceful wait.

He often quotes "There is only one thing worse than having to wait for God"

"And that is not waiting for Him"

I apologize for not providing more details but it is not mine to give. I expect one day it will be made public.

Well if we are nearing the end times ( i believe we are) you would expect to see a lot of messages about coming persecution and disasters. That’s if God had a mind to give warning to those who follow Him.

I can't ask something of you that I'd not give myself, so here's my contribution....

That message can be interpreted in different ways. Some might see it as a call to prepare for carnal warfare. Some might see it as a call to do good works and resist sin. Some might see it as a call to Love God and love thy neighbour as Jesus told us.

Or is there something behind this? Has God really called us all to greater effort to follow Him in truth and by faith?

Yes He may well be doing just that. But the question is what efforts in what areas is He looking for?

I believe terrible things are around the corner, But having the assurance of eternity with God makes them all as nothing in comparison. But for those who do not have any such assurance i shudder at the terror they will experience when it all comes to pass. I don't want to even think of it.

"For those who do not have the assurance", I also shudder.

We had a sermon in church yesterday (08/01/10) about evangelism. It was said that the need for motivation of the congregation is essential to 'get the word out. It is rather strange to see so many brethern having these frightening visions and dreams. They are indeed given to us, but might they actually be intended for the lost? We are assured of heavenly grace at the same time as we are given warning of terrible future events. What other reason could there be, but as a motivation for us to quicken the hearts of the lost?

It has been said that at the beginning of his adult life, the famous evangelist D.L. Moody had a terrifying vision of hell. It was so dramatic that it inspired much of his future ministry and work.

That being said, it's also interesting to observe that so many in the secular world are being bombarded with books, magazines, movies and TV shows with apocalyptic themes. Strangely, it's almost as though the enemy was trying to desensitize the minds and hearts of the lost, thus causing them to disregard REAL messages which call for repentance and salvation.

When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the evil one, and snatcheth away that which hath been sown in his heart. Mat 13:19

This is not in Scripture. With study of Scripture we can learn the day.

I would like to make a note of Matthew 24:36 .... But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father (and you can read verses 37 - 42 ) which continues on in this same manner. I apologize, for my statement because I did not totally clarify what I was saying. I based my statement on these verses. I have in my years of serving the Lord seen too many individuals, peoples, groups ... begin to focus on "the day and the hour" .... they removed their eyes off Jesus and began to "worship" signs and wonders too many people have been led astray by well meaning people who felt lead to "discern" the day and the hour. I am positive that as that day approaches we will be certain of it's approach .... how much more productive that our eyes be focused on the work at hand that Jesus authorized for us to do "GO YE" .... into the fields of harvest and the remaining gleanings that need harvesting then to focus on a specific date in time and become consumed with "the end"

The cry for repentance is needed to be sounded in everyone's ears. As in the days of Noah, he continued to build the ark despite ridicule and mockery. We who will dare to shout out the need for repentance will also suffer mockery and ridicule for daring to believe the end is approaching fast.

Thank you D, I know very well the 24th Chapter of Matthew, as well as Mark 13, Luke 21, Daniel, Revelation, The Minor Prophets, etc. I also know the meaning of the word "Knoweth" as used in Matthew 24:36. Very important is knowing how to "rightly divide the Word. :)

From personal experience it is easy for non-believers to discount such messages as just a dream or just an hallucination. The only people who seem to take any such message with any fair consideration are people of faith.

The only way i can see a vision having an effect on a non-believer is when they see that vision come to reality. So maybe some visions if they are specific enough are like seeds we plant into the memory of the non-believer that have a powerful effect only when they see it come to pass before their eyes.

It has been said that at the beginning of his adult life, the famous evangelist D.L. Moody had a terrifying vision of hell. It was so dramatic that it inspired much of his future ministry and work.

Maybe it is a case of so many visions that when one happens they will say "well there where so many that one of them had to come true one day" I think if one has the mindset of denial and denial of the will of God then there is always a path to flee from God until the final judgement.
