It has come to my attention through personal conversations as well as a lot of internet surfing, blogging and chatting that there are A LOT of Christians who are claiming to have visions and dreams.
These visions and dreams usually fall into two general catagories; interpretation of scripture and predictions of future events.
A lot of the former can be read in these pages and it isn't my intent to get into them here. However I would like to invite the reader to explore the subject of personal prophetic revelations of future events. I'd like to hear from those who have good reason to believe them and those who have sound reasons not to.
Do these experiences and/or revelations have basis in current events and actual divine revelation?
Are they plausible or are they a bunch of hooie?
For the most part, I'm concerned that the bulk of the prophecies I've heard are rather dark; Christian persecution, horrendous natural disaster, terrible cautions, etc.
I can't ask something of you that I'd not give myself, so here's my contribution....
I have been moved within my own spirit the following words from the Lord, "The time is coming and now is when all men shall be required to fight for their salvation from the top of their skin to the center of their spirit." I have personally attended churches from central Florida to the California coast where the congregations feel they are being called to a new level of holiness and righteousness.
I understand that there has always been a call to discipleship, but this is different. It is more intense and more immediate. I feel the pressure of the Holy Spirit constantly to work unto rightness before Him. This is more, much more than a certainty of justification before the Almighty. In addition, I must also confess to you all that I am not alone in this effort. He is with me in it quite deeply.
Is this just me? Am I suffering from some latent guilt for which I feel the necessity to reform?
Is it a mental anomaly which I alone bear?
Do I just need to go on a binge next weekend to clear my brain?
Or is there something behind this? Has God really called us all to greater effort to follow Him in truth and by faith?
Are terrible things just around the corner or have we all just been watching too much television?
