Well it happens the moment one accepts Christ as Savior.

It is the spirit that regenerates us and makes us new Creatures, and it is the Sprit that Baptizes us into the body of Christ!

My response:

When Jesus ascended into heaven He instructed his disciples to remain in Jerusalem until they should receive power from on high.

As a group of 120 were praying in an upper room in Jerusalem fifty days after his death, the Holy Spirit descended upon them with the sound of a great wind and with tongues of fire which settled upon each one of them.

They began to speak with other languages and to preach boldly in the name of Christ, with the result that three thousand were converted.

This incredible manifestation of divine power marked the beginning of the church which has ever since regarded Pentecost as its birthday.

God is the same, yesterday, today and forever.

Of course I know already that you disagree Ronald Nolette. However I posted this for others who might question your response to my post.
I will not further comment on this, because the thread is about SIN and I do not want to hijack the thread.

Waiting on him

Hello @marks,

The enemy of our souls knows (if Christians do not) that Christ is the source of all our strength and blessing. His one aim, therefore, is to keep the heart from being occupied with Christ. Any means will serve his purpose so long as this can be accomplished. So he will occupy,
The sinner with his sins,
The penitent with his repentance
The believer with his faith
The servant with his service
and the saint with his holiness.
Anything so long as it is not Christ. How many are being perplexed and hindered by being directed to this self-occupation?

Looking unto Christ, now risen and glorified and sat at God's right hand, in the knowledge that in God's reckoning we have been raised and seated with Him there: and looking for His appearing in the sure hope of appearing with Him in glory. This is the antidote to self absorption. With a heart filled with praise for the finished work of Christ who has secured us for eternity by His one all-sufficient sacrifice.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris
I believe you’ve hit the nail on the head so to speak.
The op in my opinion asks why are we self centered and not Christ centered.

Justification is also in that we've been removed from the source our our sin, the flesh. Once we had our life in our flesh - we were alive because we were flesh creatures with mind, soul. Now we are in the Spirit, that is, we have life because we are united to Christ, and the Spirit of Christ is in us. No longer of flesh, but of the Spirit. "The one who has died is justified away from sin."

Much love!

Exactly.

There is a problem when you have people preaching that repentance is not necessary for salvation.

In Hebrews it says we will move on to bigger and better things in doctrine, if the Lord permits.

The Lord will not permit us to go to other doctrines if people are preaching false doctrine as concerning the basics.

As long as that is occurring, God will raise people up to combat false doctrine and this means preaching on the subject of sin where false doctrine is being preached on that subject.
You are being toyed with jbf. Whoever speaks of repentance as unnecessary does not understand of what he/she speaks and for you to respond only feeds the fire.
False doctrine is exposed by its fruit. Those who live a lie have a heavy burden to bear. Pray for them but don't get caught up in the never ending cycle of regurgitation.....it hinders your growth and no doubt frustrates the blazers out of you.....ie, unless you get off on the never ending words.

I do not get frustrated by having to do the work of refuting such nonsense...what I do on these boards is actually a labour of love and I do it all with great joy in my heart, knowing that in the end it will bear much good fruit.

Has anyone else noticed that threads which discuss our salvation become so focused on sin?

Why is that?

Salvation is through faith in Christ.

Why aren't we talking more about that?

Much love!

AMEN Mark...my hubby and I have said that for years and years .

People are obsessed with sin..instead of obsessed with Christ.

Pilate spoke prophetically when Jesus was led out ....and Pilate said - “BEHOLD THE MAN”
So many time in the OT God said - “behold “.......

We so often wonder why the church is so weak...reason being ...they hold sin in front of them and Christ behind them...

Virtually no one acknowledges the utter Core of the Bible, which is the Work of Christ. It absolutely boggles my mind.

Colossians 2:9-15.

[Therefore to sin willfully would be out of the question;[/QUO

“ Willfull Sinning”, which is something that everybody —including you and I — does everyday if you THINK About It ,is not” out if the question”.It is the Norm. Its also Covered by the Blood.
When you willfully sin tomorrow , ask yourself— what does “GOD” do when I purposely sin? He puts it on the Cross and “ forgets” about . Now.....you do likewise.Grace sure is unfair, isn’t it?
It should be added—— if you think that, because of Grace, you can go out and commit any kind of sin that you want — especially Willful Sin, and “ get away with it”...... you are thinking like a Fool . If you are a Saved “ Child Of God” , God will take you to His “Woodshed” and give you a good Spanking....The most SEVERE Spankings go to those that commit Willful Sins , and to those that think they can play God for a Sucker because of His Grace...
Salvation is never in question.....that was a “ GIFT” remember ? The Gifts Of God are” without recall”
Do you think all of this “after Salvation” Sinning took God By Surprise? Of course not! His Remedy for this sort of thing is Chastisement —- NOT Damnation! Saved Believers that were Foolish and Trifled with God’s Grace will stand alongside those Believers that were Wise an Obedient . They will just have fewer Eternal Rewards and a lot more Welts on their Rear-Ends as they stand there......The choice to be Wise or Foolish is ours ......God always puts a Premium on Freedom.....He never wanted a Race Of “ Robots”...... Christian or Non- Christian...... God bless...

Think with me...if I wallk not after the flesh but after the Spirit, the righteousness of the law is fulfilled in me (Romans 8:4)...and sin is the transgressing of the law (1 John 3:4).

Therefore, if I walk in the Spirit consistently, I am not going to be sinning every day.

When you willfully sin tomorrow ,

Not likely to happen if I walk after the Spirit.

When you willfully sin tomorrow , ask yourself— what does “GOD” do when I purposely sin? He puts it on the Cross and “ forgets” about . Now.....you do likewise.Grace sure is unfair, isn’t it?

You must have a hard life, sinning every day and being chastised every day for it; but it doesn't seem to me like you feel the pain of all of that chastening. Are you certain that you are a legitimate son and not a bastard?

Do the circumstances of your life bear out that you sin every day and are chastened for every sin?

You must be going through it, my brother! I kind of feel sorry for you. :(

....The choice to be Wise or Foolish is ours

And the foolish virgins will be left behind at the rapture (which, from my theological perspective means they will be lost for ever; since everyone on the face of the earth after the rapture will worship the beast and his image because their names were not written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world) according to the parable of the wise and foolish virgins in Matthew 25:1-13.

the thoughts that are taken captive to His obedience will be holy thoughts..

No... The thoughts spoken of here are those that would drive our desire to fulfill the lusts of the flesh and of the mind.

"Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5)

(Ephesians 2:2-3)
“Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.”

Everyone knows the battle against sin. It's won by intimacy with God

Not according to the Bible.

Scripture teaches that we win against sin by being obedient to our Lord and Master Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:15-27

“What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.”

And Christ himself said:

"Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you." (John 15:14)

The enemy of our souls knows (if Christians do not) that Christ is the source of all our strength and blessing. His one aim, therefore, is to keep the heart from being occupied with Christ.

The enemies aim is more sinister:

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:" (1 Peter 5:8)

So he will occupy,
The sinner with his sins,
The penitent with his repentance
The believer with his faith
The servant with his service
and the saint with his holiness.Anything so long as it is not Christ

Wow.

You just attributed pretty much what every servant and Apostle of the Lord instills in the saints throughout the New Testament scriptures to the enemy’s work.

I, mean... WOW!

Because legalism is deeply rooted in the heart of men

No.

It is commanded by the holy scriptures.

"If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord." (1 Corinthians 14:37)

"For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 4:2)

"He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." (1 John 2:4)

And knowing that Satan is father of lies (John 8:44), he is the one that would have you rooted in no legalism.

Your problem is that you don’t understand that LOVE for GOD is the Engine that drives Obedience.....if you don’t REST in the Gospel Of Pure Grace, which gives one Joy and Peace Of Mind ....you will NEVER have that Love for God that is the Basis for EVERYTHING in the World Of Christianity....
You have NO understanding of the Wisdom and Insight that is behind the following quote..... “ Love God and live as you please...”

Rubbish!

It’s a shame that Satan has taken Hebrews 10:26 out of you heart.

"Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts..." (Luke 8:12)

It’s an even BIGER SHAME that you don’t read or care to understand the 9 Chapters that Precede Chapter 10 Of Hebrews .....That is why you take it out of Context......
The “ Willful Sin “ is returning to the practice of Sacrificing Animals at the Temple, which shows that you have heard and rejected Paul’s Gospel , given to him personally by Jesus....Jesus is the “ One time Sacrifice for Sin”......to sacrifice an animal “ now” is spitting on the Blood Of Christ. Yes, Jesus is the One Time Eternal Sacrifice for Sin —- one is wasting their time with any other type of Sacrifice now....that is what these Jews had been told .They lacked the Faith in the TRUE “ Lamb Of God”..... Jesus Christ.....it is that Rejection that is the Unforgivable Sin.....They needed to “ change their mind “ about Jesus and what He did for them .THAT would have been the Repentance That would have Saved them. They disobeyed God—— they did not do the the ONE thing that Jesus said was the Way to please God and go to Heaven—— “ BELIEVE ON THE ONE THAT HE SENT”.....
