Are we . . . saved to rescue us from sin?

Saved to rescue us from death?

Saved to have an abundant life?

Saved to produce much fruit?

Saved to show a good testimony?

All of these, I think, but primarily,

We are saved for the purpose of restoring God's Image to His created people, and that being for the purpose that we would have relationship with God, His children.

We are saved for the purpose of being God's children, the recipients of His love. That's why we are saved. Because that's what God wanted, and when sin took that away, He gave it back.

Much love!

saved from sins penalty which results in death, hell and separation from our Creator. Jesus as our Savior saves us from sins consequences of death and hell and imparts Eternal Life to us and gives us His Spirit who is our seal as a guarantee of our inheritance as per Ephesians 1. We are now placed in the heavenly realm in Christ as per Ephesians 2.

hope this helps !!!

Simply stated, we are saved to be with God.

As I listen to what people talk about, it seems to me the common understanding is that it's all about us, and how we benefit. I propose that the primary reason we are being rescued is that God is unwilling to let go of His original Plan. It's about Him.

Much love!

Excellent! This was going to be my answer right here. All the previous answers apply, but ultimately we are saved so that God can bestow His good pleasure upon us in eternity, and this because it will give Him great Joy to bless those who loved Him with every good thing, and grant them the desires of their hearts in Him.

What a wonderful thing to meditate on! :)

That's only one great part of it : )

I want the whole enchilada myself. I want a mansion unlike anything I ever dreamed of but could never have in this life. I want Paradise to walk through and take in the beauty of every day. I want to walk among the animal kingdom in Heaven, and dwell among them like one of them, and communicate with every living thing, and converse with squirrels and wrestle with tigers, and hug bears ... I want other things as well. And I want to be Jesus' friend. Every day if He needs something of me, I will look forward to Him coming to me : )

Good thread. Fun to think about : )

I can't even imagine what God has in mind for our eternity!

What does it mean that God will be demonstrating His kindness toward us throughout the ages to come? "You thought that was wonderful, how is this?"

To be in the most intimate terms with the All Powerful Creator God, to know His endless and eternal love without any limitations!

Much love!

Amen! And to be caught up in His glory and power, forever worshipping Him together in the beauty of harmony, in glorious worship service after glorious worship service. And to be constantly looking for ways to bless others, just as others are constantly looking to bless us in some way.

Makes you want to do the absolute best you can for Him in this life (and the next).

I firmly believe, for several biblical reasons, there are numerous unfallen worlds in God's creation. They do not know the extent of God's love for man. They don't even know what grace and mercy is. They don't know or understand why the Son of God had to leave His royal throne and become a man. I believe it will be a part of our work to share our story. I'm looking forward to traveling the universe. I'll have a t shirt with a message on the front.
I Survived Planet Earth.
And on the back,
Because of Jesus.

How can doing something for us be selfish? Sure He gets pleasure from it, just as I get pleasure from buying a burger for a homeless person. But I don't do it for the pleasure. If that were the case I'd eat the burger myself.

This is only proof that you do not understand the pleasure of Giving....
Didn’t Jesus say “ It’s better to “ GIVE” than to “RECEIVE”....

Whatever the original creation looked like pre-fall the 2nd time around will be better without a chance for satan, sin and death to ever become a part of the new heavens and the new earth. The New Heavens and earth will be eternal righteousness and perfection with God among His people forever. Revelation 21-22 give us a glimpse into its glory.

Revelation 21
Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. 11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15 The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. 16 The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long. 17 The angel measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 144 cubits thick. 18 The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. 19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.

22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Revelation 22
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever

saved for what? I though it was, for awhile. hardy har har eh?

anyway read the plan in the second and third chapter of genesis. just who and what is Adam. Luke says:

Luk 3:38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

and Paul does describe Jesus as the second Adam. (also the second being chosen by God is a theme through out much of genesis)

Jesus restored to His Father what was lost. A&E died that day of the Life God originally gave them, which Jesus restored. we are given God's place in the earth to execute God's Judgements which is Life, in the faithful context that only God is good and only God is the judge of what is good and evil for His creation and the creatures therein, no exceptions.

the principle meaning of Elohim is Creator and Judge, hence Creator of all things that are made and also Judge of all things that are made.

our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. Titus 2:13-14

We are saved d from the penalty, power and, eventually, the very presence of sin, I thought. :)
