So a few years ago I created this topic on another Christian forum and everybody started having hissy fits about it so unfortunately it was shutdown. :( Luckily, that doesn't seem to be a problem here. People will still probably have hissy fits and temper tantrums about it, but as long as the rules are followed they don't seem to close threads just because of that. So have all the temper tantrums and hissy fits you want people, because since part of this thread has to do with magic (tricks and fantasy related magic) I have a little magic mute button that will allow me to ignore you if you do. :D

Anyways, for the rest of you Christian or no that love fantasy related topics as much as I do come on in and take a load off!! After all, a recent part of my signature says that if God didn't want us to have an imagination then He wouldn't have given it to us in the first place and that's my own personal belief!! :D We have magic tricks, Harry Potter, and fantasy creatures to help us take our minds off unfortunately what we all know is going to happen this week. So @JohnDB, @historyb, @Devin Wintch, and @Nancy,.. I'm sure that you'll find this place to your liking,.. but be warned,.. the hand is quicker than the eye!! (Also @Micheal1985 might enjoy this and I believe that dragons could have possibly existed a long time ago btw.)

Well as far as dragons existing. We do have fossil records of giant reptiles. We all know that. So it might very well be correct that man might have been around to see the reptiles or their bones and have stories about them. Cheers :)

You know that's a whole different topic altogether, but it's hard to know exactly what the creation of the world meant "days" as literal or not because then it sort of disproves the whole thing about dinosaurs and humans never existing together. Anyways, here's another really good magician that I like that won America's Got Talent not too far back. :D

Newton imagined that gravity pulled an apple to his head, and gravity was discovered.

The apple falling was reality, all the apple was however was the spark that ignited Newtons imagination

@Cinnamon4, fantasy and imagination are OK, so long as people can tell the difference between imaginary and the real world. Most people can't and this leads to massive problems in society. Me, I always rely on facts to form an opinion. But I do enjoy fantasy stories and the imagination I found important to physics exploration.

If 100 people read the same thing and come out with 100 different explanations is fantasy present?

For example if one gets an electric shock, it hurts, all agree. However if people see the same words and come to different conclusions then all are fantasizing

Umm,.. this doesn't have anything to do with what this topic is talking about though. :/ (Btw, @Heart2Soul, you can move this thread as I see that it's still in the non-Christian general forum.)

LOL I can't figure out how he did the first trick but I think that it's really funny how the guy tried it for himself. :p

I agree with you that Shin Lin is good. He's a master of the myriad of card handling techniques that one can learn and he's using a wide range of them in his routine.

It is the combination of seemingly endless techniques back to back that make his performances what they are. Glides, Double Lifts, gimmicked cards and all the usual large doses of misdirection to boot.

I know quite a bit about card magic but I don't really get much out of it. The techniques are all too well established so it ends up, much like Penn and Teller, just enjoying a performance for it's artistic merit and impact.

Most magic and illusion is very well established which is why "The Masked Magician" did his TV series showing everyone how all the classic tricks were done from levitation to water tank escapes and so on.

But it has always fascinated me nonetheless and I maintain a small repertoire of tricks to keep kids entertained.

This is one of my favourite YT clips, a simple little routine using 3 cards and various card handling techniques to fool the audience

Enjoy
