Rather than teaching everyone to keep their eyes on themselves to make sure their doing good enough to be saved, teach them to keep trusting Jesus regardless of their other ideas. A mind set on Jesus. That's what God wants from His children I think!

Did you mean to pen that statement as you did? If so I can not agree with it for no matter how you try, no matter what actions you perform here on Earth whether you personally deem them good works or not, you can never ever earn your way to salvation through good works.

Isaiah 64:6
"We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away."

Titus 3:5
"He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit"

Ephesians 2:8
"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, "

No, I'm saying that is the wrong way to teach.

I don't think that we are even sufficiently self-aware to rely on our opinions and perceptions of ourselves.

The idea that some are expressing is that we had better see righteousness in our behavior if we want to think we're 'saved', and people seem to have various ideas of what that even is.

I do see where I wasn't quite clear.

Maybe the better way to write this would be to say, "teaching them to keep their eyes on themselves to see if they are doing well enough to judge their salvation".

And my response to that thinking is that we do better to not rely on our opinions of ourselves, instead, to rely on Jesus for everything, for santification, for purification, for everything! Sanctified in heart and mind as we learn to take every thought captive.

The battle over the flesh is settled. We are crucified to the flesh, to sin, to the Law. All that is over to the one who is in Christ.

Now we are in the battle for the mind, to learn to think the right way, and the more we think the right way, the more we live the right way. So my focus is over what is happening in my mind.

If I'm committing a sin, certainly, stop! But then just keep on trusting Jesus just the same, and not, OMG! I sinned that sin again! Did I forfeit my salvation? Forgetting what is behind . . . pressing into the upward call!

And thank you so very much for asking!

And welcome to our little corner of the world!

Much love!

Harmed? Children of God who sincerely love Him and seek Him will not be convinced that they are condemned and rejected. That would be a delusion.
I've seen many people become exceeding discouraged over this very thing.

We walk by faith and not by sight.

When we walk by sight, what do we see?

Isaiah 59:12
For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;

Jeremiah 14:7
O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy name's sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.

When we walk by faith, what do we believe?

1 Corinthians 1:30-31
30) But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31) That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Who is the one who does not sin?

Should we look to our sin, or look to Jesus? Do we "rate" our salvation according to how we see our sin, or how we see Jesus?

Much love!

We do walk by faith and then the Master touches our eyes so that we not completely blind to God and things of God. We will be we are seeing as through glass darkly or seeing men as trees walking. Another touch or touches by the Master are needed. The vision needs to be improving. That is to say we need to be growing. The "face to face" of I Cor 13:12 is the face that Moses was unable to see when he was allowed to see the hinder parts of God.

Most people never get to the "face to face" vision because they stop growing. They stunt their own growth by sitting back saying that Jesus has already done it all. They have nothing else to do.

Jesus finished the work in the fleshly body of the man Jesus. He overcame all of the temptations. We can by the power of God in us do the same, or better said, the Holy Spirit in us can do that. The problem is that we are still in control for each new decision we make or each new temptation that assails us. Those are battles we cannot win alone and we do not. The battles are won when we have the Holy Spirit in us and we do not repeatedly quench the Holy Spirit by keeping hold of our own reins making our own decisions based on previous experiences or information.

The only choice we have that will result in us always winning a battle is to be sure that the Holy Spirit is leading and directing. We have some overcoming to do as did Jesus. He did His overcoming and we have available the means for us also overcome as He overcame. If we are still being tempted to do the wrong thing, the overcoming in us is incomplete. After Jesus had overcome the world [the world of temptations in the man Jesus] as per John 16:33 then he was no longer IN the world:

"And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world,... John 17:11

We are still in the world of temptations. Jesus already was not before he went to the cross. His death on the cross made it possible for us do our work as He did his work. Our primary work is to overcome our own world as Jesus did.

Here is the question before us. Can God save to the uttermost, them that come to the Father by Him?

Was God's purpose in sending His only begotten Son to die on the cross simply to grant us forgiveness and then tell us to do the best we can, or was it to display to satan and to the world exactly what to the uttermost really looks like?

You see, modern Christianity may be made up of 500+ different bickering denominations, failing to come to unity on almost any subject imaginable, but there is one belief that will be found entrenched in every single one of them. And what is it that we are we in unity about?

Simply this...

Jesus can forgive us, but He cannot save us to the uttermost. He is able to save us in our sins but not deliver us from them.

So when He taught us to pray "Deliver us from evil" we believe He was really telling us to pray "Deliver us from the penalty for the evil that You actually cannot really set us free from. Lord, have mercy!

It matters not how plainly God has worded His promises. You see, we simply add ".... but of course we are only human."

He promises that our shield of faith will quench ALL the fiery arrows of the enemy.... "but of course we are only human."

I pray you who read these words and take them to heart. . Darkness is coming and it will grow to proportions we cannot even fathom at present. Where is our safety found? In His promises! But if we fall to temptation now, when it is small, what will happen when the temptation is a giant? Sadly, the answer is plain.

His promises are yea and amen, but here is the deal. They must be believed to work. God tells us we are new creatures and that we are no longer in the flesh and owe it nothing. He tells us He has delivered us from the power of darkness, not simply its penalty. But in order for us to walk in the FREE INDEED, we must believe them to enjoy their benefits.

Up till now, we have, as a whole, managed to make a fair show in the flesh, and outwardly, have an appearance of doing 'ok'..... at lest better than the heathen, right? But the storm that is coming will shake away everything that is not Christ. Everything. Foundations will be exposed and those built on self effort will collapse.

Do we not see? We are either believing we still possess old natures, gradually (verrrrry gradually, lol) growing into new ones, or we believe what Christ tells us, that the old us is really dead and we are brand new, pure at our core.

In His love and mercy, in these final days, He is restoring the truth of who we are as His bride, for it is in this way that she will light her lamp and make herself ready. We have all been asleep, healed only slightly and sadly, giving a false representation of what Christ is like to a lost and dying world. All that is about to change.

And God asks but one thing of us to bring this amazing transformation about.

Can we admit our great need?

He tells us we have not because we ask not. He tells us He simply wants us to acknowledge our iniquity..... our worldliness, our unbelief, our contentment without Godliness, our lack of agape love. our secret sins..... and that our hearts are far from Him.

Yet, right now, how few there are willing to bow before Him and cry out as wretched men to God to deliver them from THEM. How it pleases God when His children humbly return to their Father, confessing their wandering and unbelieving hearts, crying out for victory and the ability to walk as overcomers so that the world will surely KNOW that Jesus is real.

But alas. multitudes are still content to try to enter Heaven saved by the skin of their teeth, forgiven, but unchanged. They do not see sin in their life as an issue, believing grace makes continued sin a non-issue. They are wrong.

God is awaking us to the place of safety He has provided even the weakest among us. Some will cry out for it, some will remain quite content with their nice tidy doctrines and outer show of goodness. But I am telling you plainly, our doctrines and our goodness will not be enough in the days to come. Bot even close.

We must run into the name of the Lord to find shelter from the approaching storm and in order to do that, we must flee the traitor inside us called the old man. Until he is reckoned dead by a radical act of faith, driven by our desperate need to get free from the clutches of darkness, we run the risk of falling backwards and rebuilding what Jesus destroyed.

How I wish I could speak only pleasant things, but the truth is we are being faced with a choice in our valley of decision. We can either fall on the rock and be broken .... and find joy, peace and rest for our souls, just as the prodigal son did....OR.... we can resist His call to come to hate our old nature, and have the rock fall on us and grind us to powder.

I pray each one of us has the eyes of our understanding enlightened to know the hope of His calling to us, and that we might know the exceeding greatness of His power to usward who believe.

Open our eyes, O Lord, no matter what it costs us. Let us sow in tears that we might reap in joy. Amen
.

blessings.

When you make a post telling God's children that there really is a way to see sin defeated in their lives, so that they can walk as overcomers, victorious over the world, the flesh and the devil, eyebrows go up. Might as well throw a few snickers in there as well.

There are a lot of reasons for this. It could be that with very few exceptions... verry, verrrry few, lol, most everyone affiliated with the church, regardless of denominations, believes such a statement to be the words of a heretic.... or at least a spiritual fool. ☺️

It could be those pesky verses in Romans 7, or the really good one in 1John 1:9. It could be after 38 years worth of trying everything imaginable to stop addictive sins, you discover how deeply rooted sin is in ones nature, how deep the darkness goes in our flesh. No matter how much effort is expended to reign in that flesh, it simply refuses to be tamed.

Some, praise God, despite their track record of a thousand broken resolutions, simply cannot give up the desire to please God with their obedience, but live every day of their life under a rhin but persistent veil of condemnation, not condemnation from God..... they know they are forgiven.... but you see, their own hearts condemn them.

Others throw up their hands, feeling ny attempts to resist the pull of darkness to be hopeless, and decide to simply try to do their best, go to church and avoid the 'big ones'. They thank God for grace, and that He still loves them, despite their unbelief in His clear promises.

Then there are a few who mistakenly assume that if we can't ever defeat sin and yet are still forgiven, we needn't fear sin at all. After all, their salvation is secure no matter what, and so willful sin is thrown in with all the little ones. Repentance is seen as unnecessry, for in their minds it is almost unbelief in the power of grace, and only for those who haven't yet 'seen the light of grace in its fullness'. These label the first group as legalists, and prey upon the multitude in the second for converts to their take on the gospel that since "all things are lawful unto me", why listen to correction... why feel guilty? But they also avoid ever talking about the the second part of that statement "but all things are not expedient", and in doing so, lead many into deep error.

God has given us many, many promises declaring that sin's power over us has been broken. Yet to most, they all seem like empty words, nice for Christian motivational posters, perhaps, but given so many reasons not to believe, they find standing on the promises is like attempting to walk on water, but with Jesus nowhere in sight. Thus, they find God's Word incredibly confusing as to how they are supposed to count it all joy when they fall into diverse temptations, when the result will be failure..... again.

But of all the reasons I know of as to why God's elect simply cannot believe that they really can say no to the devil... every time..... there is one that sits at the top of the heap, one that blocks men's path, subverting any attempt at standing up to the devil and saying "Not this time...."

What is it? Our thought life..... and that will be discussed next.

blessings,

Gideon

What a stronghold our minds are! Walls like iron mountains, keeping the children of God locked outside the land of victory, unable to walk in the rest that God has provided for every one of us. A man of courage and strength may be able to subdue his outer actions, but who can tame his mind? It is the Jericho standing in the way of every saint who longs to walk pleasing to God, and in order to proceed any further, the walls made of self-serving thoughts must come down.

The minute hope arises in the heart of a man tired of failing his God, tired of a heart that cannot truly love selflessly, bad thoughts bring him back to earth, robbing him of any chance of victory. And faith that perhaps there really is a way to walk with sin under our feet evaporates again, like a mirage offering hope in the desert, only to disappear in the heat of the mid-day sun.

And what are those hope-smashing, despair inducing walls that keep so many from walking in true victory? Our thoughts. Who can control them? Who can harness them? Like arrows shot from the dark side of our soul, they can appear from nowhere. Vile thoughts. Lustful thoughts. Covetous thoughts. Thoughts of condemnation. Thoughts of vengeance. Thoughts of doubt. Thoughts of blasphemy. Never ending thoughts that keep us chained still in Romans 7.

If our tongues are hard to control, how much more so our thought life! And because of this, how many there are who have given up the fight to walk in the rest that remains for the people of God? They may long to see sin defeated in their lives, but ultimately, no matter the promises of God, no matter the assurances scripture gives us, impure thoughts are too much to overcome, and unbelief washes back over them.

And yet..... and yet God tells us this:

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds,

casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,

and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."

2 Corinthians 10:3-5

This presents a big problem for us. Why? Because God just told us that what seems impossible is doable. But how?? How does one control his thought life. Even in the middle of prayer, unspeakable thoughts can come like flaming arrows. Does that happen with you? Yeah, me too.

But you see, in that last statement is a key to our unlocking the answer we are His people desperately need. If the thoughts come like flaming arrows..... then their source is ...... not. us. Let thatcsink in for a moment. I will wait.

We have been talking here about who we are and who we no longer are. Paul tells us that when Christ died, we too died with Him. Our old nature, our fleshly nature that worked in tandem with our fleshly body, died. Yes, we still have our fleshly bodies, and the pulls of the world are still exerted upon us. BUT... oh, I pray you get this.... we are no longer flesh natured beings. We are new!

And as we have learned, even though this is a wonderful truth, it will not profit us, it will not benefit us, until we exercise the faith God has placed within us as a gift and receive it from the hand of Jesus.

But when we do, and I am convinced that many of you are so very close, ready to take the ultimate leap of faith into your saviors strong arms, putting off your old nature by reckoning it as done, and putting on your new nature that can and will say yes to Jesus every time.

To you, my friends, I want you to know this. Once you do so, regardless of how you feel, regardless of whether or not you think you are 'ready'.... ha! ......regardless of whether you think you believe strongly enough, something amazing transpires. You are given a new mind as well as a pure heart. Glory to God! Listen to the instructions Paul gives us....

"...that ye put off, concerning your former manner of living, the old man which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

and that ye put on that new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Ephesians 4:22-24

Do you see that? When you step out of the boat of unbelief from darkness to light, with it you also get a new mind! So does this mean the thoughts will stop? Not at all! As a matter of fact, for a while, they might increase. Take heart. dear one. God has this, and He has you.

This reminds me of dialogue in the movie 300 where the Spartans are told the sky will be darkened with the arrows of the enemy. And their unflinching reply? "Then we will fight in the shade." Gotta love it.

Guys, do you see now? Ever since your new birth, those evil thoughts have NEVER been your thoughts. They came directly from satan, and he is a master at lies and deceptions. He is wise enough to not come accusing you or tempting you like a little devil on your shoulder, with a puff of sulpherous smoke. No, he is far more devious than that!

He comes to you with an evil thought as if it originated in YOUR brain. He does not say "You are..." accusingly. No, no. He says "I am....." and he does it mimicking YOUR voice, hoping, like a master fisherman, that you will take the bait..... again.

But when the day arrives that light bulbs come on, and it will for every one of the elect in these final days, and the curtain is pulled back and the impotent wizard is exposed for what he is, just smoke and mirrors, his thoughts no longer find their mark. They are intercepted by shields of faith instead. Accusations go unheeded. Temptations go unfulfilled. Victory is maintained, fellowship unbroken.

And it is in this way that we as His children take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. It is our birthright. It is our destiny. The land lays before us, and God has told us, every step we take will be our possession, for He has already given us the land.

And God says..."So go take it." And take it we shall. It all starts with our shouts of faith, tearing down strongholds that previously seemed impenetrable, and shaking the walls of Jericho to their foundations. This is the bride awakening to who she is, and it will be GLORIOUS.

blessings to all,

Gids

So.... this revelation Go has shown me and has asked me to share with any desperate (or crazy) enough to give ear to what I share.... is it scriptural? Does the Word of God back it up or prove it to be a lie? Ultimately, that is all that matters. So, let's take a look at what the Word tells us on IF we can truly walk as overcomers of sin. Ultimately, all who enter Heaven will be free of any vestiges of sin, self, darkness and the flesh, but what about now? In THIS life? Is it actually declared in God's Word that a) it is not only possible but b) that it is actually promised to His children?

Let's first look at several of the promises of God. There are many but I want to hone in on several that clearly declare we are free from the grip of sin.

1. John 8- Here Jesus tells those who followed Him that if they continued to believe, He would make them free. When they protested, saying, they were already free, Jesus said "He that commits sin is a slave to it. But whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

It is one thing to be forgiven. That is our starting point. That is not to be our ending point. Forgive us AND cleanse us of all unrighteousness.

2. Paul tells us, in discussing the armor we have been given, that we have been issued shields of faith that God promises will quench ALL the fiery arrows of the enemy. ALL.

3. We are told that God will not allow us to be tempted above our ability to resist, and as well, will make a way of escape in every temptation. EVERY.

4. Colossians 1:13. "who has delivered us from the power of darkness." This is not talking forgiveness. It is talking liberation.

5. God tells us, as we have discussed in the previous post, that we can not only bring every action, but every thought into submission to the obedience of Christ.

6. For those thinking this is all well and good, but these promises will see their fulfillment in the next life..... consider:

"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He that calleth you; He also will do it."

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

Paul declares that we are to cleanse ourselves of all filthiness of the flesh and the spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. These clearly show us when this victory is to be walked in.... this life.

God desires us, His will for us, is that we know how to possess our vessels in sanctification and honor. And here we must get down to brass tacks. We have, up till now, not known HOW. And as I have shared, this truth of our new nature actually being put on by faith has been lost in the church ever since the grievous wolves entered into the church after Paul's death.

But in these last days, God has promised to awaken His people to these truths, truths that will take even the weakest among us, and make us trees of righteousness. He will open eyes to the HOW that makes holiness not only possible, but assured.

We are NOT just sinners saved by grace. We WERE sinners saved by grace. But who are we now?

We are children of God, putting on our armor, holding up our shields of faith as to who we truly are.

We believing that right now, today, this very minute, we are dead, and our life is hid with Christ in God. We are no longer on the flesh, and owe it nothing. And believing that, we are those who resist satan steadfast in the faith, yielding ourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead.

Up till now, God has not held us accountable for our failures to walk in His amazing promises for we have done so in ignorance. But He is not returning for a bride defeated by the enemy. God wants us, as children of light, to walk as children of light. And there is but one way to do that. One.

God tells us in Amos 3:3:

"Can two men walk together unless they be agreed?"

Listen, weary saint. You CANNOT do better. All of our righteousness is as filthy rags. God has a better way. MUCH better!! He simply asks you to agree with Him that despite how you feel, despite how defeated you may appear, you clothe yourself with your new nature by an act of your will to choose to believe. Trust me. When you do so, God WILL take care of the rest.

Oh, I pray you believe me. God's will for you, for me, for every child of God, is that we finally come into agreement with Him as to who we are... and put on our new man, not by doing better, but by an act of faith! God does not expect you to fix yourself to be victorious. Without Him you can do NOTHING. He has made a way when there is no way, and you can never be more ready than you are this very minute. So.... what are you waiting for? Ask for that faith, and receive, that your joy may be full!

blessings,

Gideon
