Britian's National Union of Journalists has voted at its annual meeting for a boycott of Israeli goods as part of a protest against the Second Lebanon War, the British daily Guardian reported on its Web site Friday evening. The vote was carried 66 to 54 - a result that met with mixed responses from the NJU delegates present. The motion came during a series of motions on international affairs and read: "This ADM [annual delegate meeting] calls for a boycott of Israeli goods similar to those boycotts in the struggles against apartheid South Africa led by trade unions and the TUC [Trades Union Congress] to demand sanctions be imposed on Israel by the British government and the United Nations." Irish artists' call for Israel boycott mockedThe second Lebanon war: JPost.com special report The motion was originally brought by the union's South Yorkshire branch in February and was opposed by the Cumberland branch, which said it was too political and was not closely enough related to journalistic matters. After a show of hands twice failed to give a clear result, union scrutineers were called in and the doors to the conference room closed. The vote on the motion was taken after it was split from a larger motion that condemned the "savage, pre-planned attack on Lebanon by Israel" last year. This motion, known as Composite B in Order Paper 4, was carried by a large majority and also condemned the "slaughter of civilians by Israeli troops in Gaza and the IDF's continued attacks inside Lebanon" following what the motion defined Israel's "defeat" by Hizbullah. The motion called for the "end of Israeli aggression in Gaza" and other territories inhabited by Palestinians. The Yorkshire branch of the NJU neglected to mention in its motion either the fact that Israel was keeping a ceasefire with the Palestinian Authority, despite the fact that southern towns in Israel were, and still are, sporadically fired upon with Kassam rockets. Also absent from the motion was any mention of the hundreds of civilians bombarded with projectile rockets for over a month in the summer of 2006. Israel's casus bell - the kidnapping of IDF reservists Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev in a cross-border raid on July 12, was also missing from the motion. Six other reserve soldiers were killed in Hizbullah's carefully-orchestrated attack, which started the war. Israel unilaterally withdrew from Lebanon in 2000 when MK Ehud Barak was prime minister. At the time, IDF forces were forced to withdraw under heavy Hizbullah fire.

And, yet, Israel still has an occupation force and kills Palestinians almost daily on Palestinian land.

Israel killed 1200 non-combatant civilians. Hezbollah killed 32 civilians in their defense of Lebanon against Israeli forces.

The captured reservists were in Lebanon, not Israel.

Hezbollah ceased fire, as agreed. Israel was not under heavy fire when they withdrew. Israel dropped millions of cluster bombs in the last few days before the cease-fire, bombs that are still killing Lebanese civilians today.

So is that before or after the Palestinian suicide bombers do their thing?
The captured reservists were in Lebanon, not Israel.
Prove it. All reliable sources I can find - even Wikipedia which tends to be very much against Israel because of the state of affairs of who posts even lists that it was a cross border raid by Hezbollah which took place during rockets being fired by Hezbollah.

I certainly don't approve of everything Israel did, but how many of those were human shields? The majority. Even the Nazis fought out in the open.

That's not what the Bible teaches (Care to debate it?). Your statements, even if true, are not relevant to this thread and are no defense of the deliberately misleading article posted in this thread.

Whoa, hold your horses here for a moment. What's deliberately misleading about this article? You've made a few accusations, but in order for something to be true, I like to see a little proof other then someone's statement. I think that's a respectable request. You've offered up a few opinions, but that seems to be it right now.

The article said that Israel was keeping the ceasefire. That is not true, and you seem to concede that fact by rationalizing Israeli fire against Palestinians.

Wikipedia says, "a Hezbollah ground contingent crossed the border into Israeli territory and attacked two Israeli armoured Humvees patrolling on the Israeli side of the Israel-Lebanon border" Considering that's not misleading, I hardly think Wikipedia is suffering from anti-Israel bias here.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Israel-Lebanon_warThe fact is, the Israeli soldiers were captured at Shebaa Farms, which the UN considers to be part of Syria (thus it escaped the resolution against Israeli occupation of Lebanon), but both Syria and Lebanon consider to be part of Lebanon. The only sense in which Hezbollah crossed the boarder is from Lebanon into Isreali-occupied Lebanon, never into land the UN considers to be part of Israel proper (contrary to what is often implied). Hezbollah never left Lebanon because Shebaa Farms is part of Lebanon.http://www.dailystar.com.lb/article.asp?ed...rticle_id=74978

Israel has been in the news lately for using human shields. Can you spare some condemnation for that? http://www.btselem.org/english/Human_Shiel..._Beit_Hanun.aspHezbollah didn't use human shields. They simply didn't step out in the open and invite Israel to bomb them. It's a necessary tactic for the weaker side in asymmetric warfare. That is different from using human shields, which are hostages.

If you are a defender of Israel enemies it is not going to go over well here.

Then you lack knowledge of what God word says. To defend radical Islam is to defend Satan's false religion so be careful where you cast your support.for the time of the gentile will end and God will turn his attention back to.Jews which are under a slumber where God placed them. Till he be ready to awake them. God uses them as us for his purpose So you better understand his purpose before you make judgements on them........................................................................ "Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah. "It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it. Zechariah 12:2-3

which the UN considers to be part of Syria
Sorry, I'm still laughing on that one. Give me a moment.
The fact is, the Israeli soldiers were captured at Shebaa Farms, which the UN considers to be part of Syria (thus it escaped the resolution against Israeli occupation of Lebanon), but both Syria and Lebanon consider to be part of Lebanon. The only sense in which Hezbollah crossed the boarder is from Lebanon into Isreali-occupied Lebanon, never into land the UN considers to be part of Israel proper (contrary to what is often implied). Hezbollah never left Lebanon because Shebaa Farms is part of Lebanon.
So which is it? Syria has the claim to it if either does - one of the maps that showed it as belonging to Lebanon was proven a forgery. The deeds could easily have been documented for a Syrian because owning land was common across borders and in the Muslim line of thinking. The ten other maps say its Syria. The curious thing is, Syria has at times backed Lebanon and then at other times said it was theirs. So who's land is it? It's another curious thing that Lebanon never mentioned it after '67 or '73. It never became a real issue until suddenly in 2000 again. It's the same ole, same ole in that regards. Just looking for an excuse. Hezbollah was supposedly doing this for Lebanon...
Hezbollah didn't use human shields. They simply didn't step out in the open and invite Israel to bomb them. It's a necessary tactic for the weaker side in asymmetric warfare. That is different from using human shields, which are hostages.
The funny thing is, you say they didn't do it, then provide an excuse for it. Again, which is it? Prove otheriwse than what I have said because common sense seems to suggest human shields were used. It wouldn't be the first time.

Then you lack knowledge of what God word says.
I await for you to back up that statement.
Jews which are under a slumber where God placed them.
You mistake Paul's consolatory tone with implying that Jews have some special status with a racist God (a God who condones wickedness among "His people"). The Gospel is veiled to those who are perishing. It is no different for the Jew than for the Gentile. To use your vernacular, all the lost are under a slumber where God has placed them.
Zechariah 12:2-3 [emphases mine]
Zechariah is talking about Jesus, not Jews in the future. If you read all of Zechariah, you will see that Zechariah is focusing on the day that Jesus ushers in the new covenant. Zech 14: 8And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.I once had a Sunday School teacher tell me that the reason Jews don't accept Jesus as Messiah is because they expected the Messiah to be a powerful earthly king. But, Jesus said his Kingdom is not of this world. And, I'm afraid you are blinded just as the Jews, you see Zechariah talking about great physical warfare when it is talking about great spiritual warfare. The Old Testament isn't about Jews, it's about Christ.

You should have listened to the sunday school teacher. He obviously understood scripture. Everything else you say this scripture is about. NOT

If you sidestep physically as quickly as you sidestep verbally you'd make one good boxer. Answer the question.
To reiterate: Kriss posted an article that told a number of lies, including the falsehood that Israel is "keeping the ceasefire" with the Palestinians. You revealed that you know it's a lie by defending Israel's violence by pointing to the now rare suicide bombing by people who live in refugee camps against their occupier. But, if you want an answer to your question, Israel kills Palestinians regularly, before and after suicide bombings (contrary to what the article implies, that Israel is regularly attacked and just takes it).
So which is it? Syria has the claim to it if either does - one of the maps that showed it as belonging to Lebanon was proven a forgery. The deeds could easily have been documented for a Syrian because owning land was common across borders and in the Muslim line of thinking. The ten other maps say its Syria.
Now you have revealed that you know the article lied when it implied Hezbollah crossed over into Israel to capture those two Israeli reservists. You are arguing that the land belongs to Syria. Whether the land belongs to Lebanon or Syria is secondary. I already noted that the UN considers the land to belong to Syria. But, the locals disagree. Who has claimed those old land deeds are forgeries?

Actually it was in reference to the very general statement you made. Israel responding to the use of force with force...I never said otherwise so there really is no lie. I expect force to be returned with force, only cowards lay down and die.
Now you have revealed that you know the article lied when it implied Hezbollah crossed over into Israel to capture those two Israeli reservists.
Actually, I'll spell it out for you since you missed my true implication and cannot seem to read what I said. I said the map was a forgery. Just Google it, but here's an Australian's newspaper's article on it:
Professor Kaufman's findings were published two years after Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon in 2000 and were not considered by the UN team that investigated where to draw the border. At the time, Lebanon presented the UN with a map dated 1966 that showed the land was Lebanese, but it was later shown to be a forgery.
http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/disputed-...4198207507.html Back to my real implication, not the one you're trying to confuse. My point is this entire situation reeks of more going on behind the scenes and it reeks of Babel and confusion. Obviously, Lebanon didn't care too much about it until recently since it wasn't mentioned after the '67 and '73 wars. It only suddenly becomes an issue in 2000. Imagine that. Furthermore, Syria has sometimes said that the land is theirs and then said that it was Lebanon's land at other times. Again, it only suddenly becomes an issue in 2000. The point of my post is that this tiny area of disputed land is a toy. Israel uses it as a buffer for Hezbollah and holds the land right now. Hezbollah crosses it and takes a soldier hostage. My other point is that the bigger picture is being mixed. You're so dead set on Israel this and Isreal that. It blinds you to the one world system - which is very Biblical - that's being formed through UN amongst other organizations. Most Americans can give a hill of beans what the UN says and this started long before what we have today.
I serve Christ, not a state that denies that Jesus is the Christ.
Israel has over 100,000 that do profess to believe in Christ and you better stand with those bretheren when the time comes. Standing with a people that deny your God against a remnant of his people is not a place you want to be. I assure you of that. Consult His Word on that one, it's written before you.
