Very cautious..
...the history of communal performance is dismal among humans. What causes that? How can a Christian based community thrive in the Lord, and with each other? How do we prevent a strong willed person from turning it into a "follow me" cult instead of following Christ? All very good questions to be asking and praying about if led in this direction

Thanks @amadeus for the tag.
I Confess that I have only read two posts in the thread , post #1 and the quote that @amadeus podted above.

He and I are old friends .... in all senses , 1) we’ve been on many Christian forums now together for 20 years .
2) we are both old in years pushing 80 , and 3) old in Christian years too. So we know each other’s history .

the tag is because my hubby and I have lived in community living from 1975 to 1993 ...close to 20 years ...
Both on community ‘farms ’ ...of 100 people or so, way out in th3 British Columbian bush .....and also in big houses of anything from 25 to 35 people...closer in to the cities...

Been there done that and our life has been colourful and richer for it.

The “problems “ which arose were mostly the heavy hand of those who felt that they should dictate to other , by pulling leadership rank. I ( not so much my husband , it’s me with the big mouth...) was it seemed , always the one fighting and arguing the point for the ‘underdog’ ... ..we were invited over here ( from England) by the apostle who started the movement , so we bore some clout ourselves ..
I have an aversion to church politics and saw enough of it , in all shapes and colours in those years to last me until kingdom come.!!
We still believe strongly in a plural balanced leadership...I find nowhere in scripture for the ‘one man band pastor ‘.

Love always wins the day. And wonderful solid love bonds were made over those many years.
Other than the weakness of ‘the heavy hand’ ...I have nothing negative to say about community living.
We are the richer for it.

As for the heading of this thread ...and the mention of a ‘safe haven’. There is no such thing.
It’s impossible to escape the system .

The ONLY Safe Haven is Psalm 91 “ He that dwelleth in the Secret Place Of The Most High shall Abide under the shadow of the Almighty .....’

There is our rest , our Safe Haven, our God , our Hope , our Victory , and our ONLY Safe Haven.....
There is no other safe place on earth.

He has always promised that He will be WITH US in trouble , not zap us out of trouble...
We are to be salt and light while on this earth....not hiding in a corner ...

my two cents ...

Apparently Canada isn't safe either, but maybe you're in a different area, well I'm not much for hiding out, so I'll just say God be with you:

Meteor explodes over Vermont with the force of 440 pounds of TNT | Live Science

A meteor streaked through the night sky over Vermont on Sunday (March 7), creating a spectacular light show and causing Earth-shaking booms as it burned through the atmosphere.

The meteor's explosive passage through the atmosphere released the equivalent of 440 pounds (200 kilograms) of TNT, suggesting that the meteor was likely 10 pounds (4.5 kg) and 6 inches (15 centimeters) in diameter, according to NASA Meteor Watch.

The space rock smacked into the atmosphere at about 42,000 mph (68,000 kph), according to NASA. It appeared over the northern part of the state as a bright fireball at 5:38 p.m. EST, just before sunset.
huh, could have stopped it with a hand net.

Communities work when there is humility and a willing strong back. They struggle when the load is shirked and the vision is hijacked.

Look; you go ahead and set up your 'safe haven'. But don't fool yourself and your family and friends, that they won't be affected by what is soon to happen.
Look; we trust in the Lord our God,
who not only calls us His children, but His friends!

Has He ever told you that you are friends?
Has He ever told you that He will take care of you?
Answer: No.

Isn't it time that you got to know Him?
Please check John 10:27-28 and John 17:3.

Actually, He has told us several times ...
if we don't hear His still small voice clearly, we won't make it.
(This would apply to everyone, not just us!).
May the Lord's blessings be upon you!

Many thanks for sharing your experience and insight.
Butski, perhaps you're missing that fact that ...
It is God who makes it a safe-haven (if we follow His will, guidance, etc.).

So far, I have NOT heard from anyone
who has prayed to the Lord about our promise
that He has directed us to start up a safe-haven
in the general area of a major city in North-Central BC.

No one has said that he/she has prayed and was told
"They have heard correctly from Me."
or ...
"They have NOT heard correctly from Me."

Simple.

Where is this location in BC....north central big city would be Prince George? I am very familiar with that area. Btw, don’t let negative responses throw you off track.

So, this info cannot be shared in a Christian Community like this one? You publicly, on this forum announce this commune, but do not want the location known, except the general area as being northern BC, near a major city. There is a community like this near Chilliwack, they operate a coffee shop downtown and promote it with flyers, brochures, etc...no secrets there for sure. They also invite the public to come and visit their location at the Fraser River.

Yep...that is what I said!

HE IS the hiding place , HE IS the only safe haven.

if the agenda of the BC ‘safe haven’ is to escape from the world , you will find out soon enough it can’t be done on this earth.

Moses brought the Children of Israel out of Egypt ....but Israel brought Egypt with them! They lusted for the things of Egypt ...moaned , and complained.

Just be ready ...when the ‘honeymoon ‘ time and the fun of setting up the place is over ....and the personality clashes start...and ..the murmurs and complaining starts being continual.
But, you don’t have to believe me haha!

it is a known fact that no man learns from the experiences of others , each learns from his own experiences .
It will do a work of dying to the old self and the flesh ....that will be worth its weight in gold.
Guard your heart , for some will tread on it and break it, if they can.

God bless you, I wish you well. I wouldn’t trade those years
They were good years ....much of it in Gods furnace......but then , most years of a 30 to 40 year olds are good.:)

The Lord has said it is not prudent to share all info with everyone.
The exact location should not be a priority for anyone
who desires to follow the Lord wherever He leads.
We're moving from Alberta.

Are you intent on following the Lord,
or are you intent on following your flesh?
Then, of course, there's Satan.
It's always a 2 against 1 proposition.

The Lord has told us often that ...
those who don't clearly hear His still small voice won't make it.
He has also said how grieved He is that ...
many who think they're going to heaven will not be.

Typical, I question peoples beliefs and they question my faith.
My post #62, gives the scriptures of where I put my faith and trust. You seem to think you can do it; safety and protection, yourself.

Where the problem with your and many others idea; of hiding in a remote location during the end time events, is how the world will be a vastly different place after the next prophesied event, the Lord's Day of fiery wrath. Revelation 6:12-17
All of our modern infrastructure will be gone and life for the survivors will be very difficult.

But the Lord WILL call His people, those who kept faithful and trusted for His protection on that terrible Day. A literal 24 hour day.

Ezekiel 20:34 By My strong hand and outstretched arm and outpoured wrath, I shall bring you out of the peoples and gather you from the lands where you are dispersed.

Ezekiel 11:17 I shall gather you from among the nations and bring you together from the countries where you have been exiled and I will give the Land of Israel to you.

Ezekiel 36:13 I shall lead My sheep out of the nations, gather them from the different lands and bring them to their own country.

Hosea 11:10-11 My people will follow Me when I roar, My sons will come speedily and I will settle them on their own homes.

Zechariah 10:8-10 I shall whistle to call My people home. Though dispersed in far off lands, I will call for them and lead them into Gilead and Lebanon until there is no more room.

Isaiah 66:20 From every nation your countrymen will be brought, on horses, in chariots and wagons, on mules and camels, as an offering to the Lord on His holy mountain.

Psalm 50:5 Gather to Me, My loyal servants, those who by sacrifice have made a covenant with Me.

Isaiah 41:1-10 Listen in silence, you coasts and islands, together we go to the place of judgement. Israel, My servants summoned from the ends of the earth, have no fear, you will be strengthened and helped by My Right Hand. [Jesus]

Isaiah 49:8-23 They are coming, some from far away. My people, not forgotten, they are inscribed on the palms of My hands. All of them, assembling flooding back to the Land. The nations will bear your children in their arms. So many that the place is too cramped. None who look to Me will be disappointed.

Zephaniah 3:16-20 On that Day; fear not, the Lord your God is in your midst [not visible – the same as in the first Exodus. 1 Cor. 9:4] and will keep you safe. I will rescue the lost, gather the dispersed and bring you home.

Isaiah 27:13 On the Day, a great trumpet will sound and those lost in Assyria, [the 10 tribes] and those exiled in Egypt [the Jews] will come to worship the Lord in Jerusalem.

Isaiah 60:1-9 Arise and shine, Jerusalem, your sons and daughters are coming from afar, sailing along like clouds in vessels from the coasts and islands, returning your children from distant places, to the honor of the Lord, for He has given you the glory.
[Christians - children of the Living God.
Romans 9:24-26]

Jeremiah 31:8-9 See how the Lord gathers His people from the far ends of the earth, among them; the blind and the lame, children and pregnant women. A vast company, they return, weeping as they come, but I will comfort them and lead them by streams of water.

Psalm 107:103 Those who were redeemed by the Lord and gathered from the North, West, East and the South, will say: Give thanks to the Lord, for His love endures forever!

Well, that's it.
Can't argue with what the Lord tells you can we?
Hopefully you don't lead the commune that way.
It might fall to pieces pretty fast that way.
You absolutely cannot argue with what the Lord has repeatedly told us!
God's choice of His Administrator will be leading His safe-haven,
and the Lord has told us that I am not the Administrator.
Perhaps, I'm too old (80) ... but, I trust in God for choosing the right person.

In spite of men taking Egypt with them the promise is redemption. I too have a limited story re communities. I think they work with the right attitude, just look at the kibbutz's in Israel in their time.
You are right Helen, our only safe haven is the protection gifted by our Father ....all the more reason for like minded people to live together....synergy is a wonderful force.

The Lord has told us that we will be pulling a small RV behind our AWD as we
go in and out of the safe-haven to minister to non-believers and believers also.
IMO, unbelievers don't have to know where we came from when we go out.
I would suggest you be careful about sharing your location with believers as well. Those in your own church could well be your most bitter enemies when the crunch comes.
