War is necessary - this is outlined in a vast number of verses in the OT and confirmed by the NT when Christ says:"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." (Matthew 5:2 KJV)War is necessary because Our Father is a God of War just as much as he is a God of Love.Exodus 15:3 KJV"The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name."Why is it necessary? To protect ourselves - the same way there was war in heaven when Satan was cast down.

If you are the one being attacked and invaded, you have no choice. Either you submit to the invaders or you fight them. So, for the one being attacked, it is necessary. If you are asking if THIS war is necessary, now we are in an entirely different area. Now we are asking if it is necessary to start a war.I can only say that I joined the military to repel invaders, not be an invader.Up until this moment, I could never have imagined myself doing what I did nearly four years ago. While I was already past mandatory retirement and being forced out one minute and being told I couldn't retire because they might need me for what was then the oncomming war. I made up their minds for them. I submitted my retirement papers and forced it down their throats because i do not believe in the current policy.

Personally, I think it depends on the situation.A man should fight to protect his loved ones, however a man should not fight for an unjust cause. An unjust war is not a war that should be fought.

Repelling an invasion is one for sure. Remember, every side in war claims "God is on our side!" My mother grew up in Nazi Germany. She has a German Soldiers belt buckle woth the engraving "Gott Ist Mitt Aus"or "God is with us". What is the battle cry of the enemy is this war? "Allah Ach Bar!" or "God is great!" And of course we cry out "God Bless America!"I have always wondered, when we utter those words, it it a request or a demand?

Here's a good quote:“Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right!”These were the words of Abraham Lincoln and I cannot help but think they apply to this thread.

Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right!”(Quote)The White House Chaplian who was trying to comfort Lincoln in the early days of the war afer numerous setbacks. In that war, both dises claimed that God was on their side. Jeff Davis's words were always steatments screaming for "Rights". Lincoln never uttered the proud words that we utter today or the hawks of his time shouted. The concept of pre emtive war places too much judgement on subjective analysis. You always need an expert to explain why war is necessary.Since Scripture does not specify any one type of governemnt, "Democracy" is not a valid Scriptural reason to go to war. In fact, I challenge anybody to show one line in Scripture, either the OT or NT where "The will of the people" is even spoken of favorably.
