Very interesting video. I am not a Calvinist, Arminian or a Lutheran. I have read Luther and Calvin, but not as a means to form my doctrine. What I believe comes from the Bible and my preacher and not from any of these three scholars.
This gentleman (and I apologize for not knowing his title) made an interesting statement: His believe stemming from the Lutheran camp is that some things God has held some things back from us. The Bible gives us what we need to be saved, but doesn't reveal all his inner workings.
While I believe its being revealed more and more every day, I also see his point and have had this belief as well. While I am involved in debates about such at this time, I find the whole debate fruitless for the same reason he noted: God hasn't revealed everything, and especially the precise names of who is chosen or who is not. He gives the plan, he gives the knowledge that he dies know who it is, and that he declared it, ordained it and predestinated it, but never gives names.
In other words, we still have to follow the plan! Not by works of the flesh, but by remaining faithful. The knowledge that God has chosen, predestined or ordained some does us no good because he promises no one individually. He just gives the plan.
I have said that several times, but I wonder how many notice.
Interesting video. Liked the guy. He did his best to cover all points and scripture, but I still have some I wish he would've covered. I don't agree with him that God wants the whole world saved but I do agree that the invitation and method has been presented to the whole world. That's based on questions and scripture he didn't address. I don't hold that against him... Too tough to cover everything!
Bottom line: Predestination is in the Bible and you have to take it seriously. But you have to take it seriously enough to follow the plan given, because while God knows, you don't! If you don't follow the plan, you weren't predestinated to eternal life.
