The answer to the above question is one of the fundamental differences between Judaism and Christianity. Two thousand years ago, a large faction occurred among the Jewish people: there were those who saw Jesus as divine and those who saw him as human. The first devotees of Jesus Christ were in fact devout Jews. Some of those believers in Jesus remained faithful to Judaism and considered themselves part of the Jewish community, though they viewed Jesus as the Messiah. Another group of followers broke off completely from the Jewish community; this group eventually became known as Christians. The fundamental difference between Judaism and Christianity is that Chritians believe the Messiah, Christ, came two thousand years ago, while Jews are still awaiting their Messiah. So the question is then this: Why didn't the ancestors of today's Jews believe that Jesus was the Messiah?According to Judaic thinking, Jesus did not uphold the two primary elements of the Messiah and the messianic age: justice and peace. (For more information on Biblical references to the Messiah, see Biblical Messiah) The book of Isaiah is where most of these messages are found. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks:nation shall not life up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. (King James Verion, Isaiah 2:4)The Messiah is supposed to usher in a time of justice; he will judge all nations. And yet, injustice and corruption were still rampant after Jesus was crucified. He failed to bring about the major prophecy of justice that the true Messiah would have completed. The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. (KJV, Isaiah 11:6)They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. (KJV, Isaiah 11:9)Jesus also failed to fulfill the prophecy of world peace. Jews expected a time when they could get along with their enemies, the wolves, and war would no longer exist. On the contrary, Christians used war more and more to gain power and control. Jews couldn't imagine that the messianic age was upon them when believers in Jesus were causing so much bloodshed.Current Jews' views towards JesusThe current Jew still does not believe that Jesus was the Messiah. As starters, they believe that He was one of many first and second century Jews who claimed to be the Messiah, but in truth were imposters (see Failed Messiahs). Jews certainly don't think that Jesus meant to start a religion based on His ideas, let alone one to start a religion that would snowball into one of the most popular religions in the world. Jews actually believe that Christ didn't found Christianity, they think that Paul (Saul) founded it by communicating Jesus' word to followers.http://www.conncoll.edu/academics/departme...aism/jesus.html

We have to remember at this time most peoples could not read their was no bible as we know it. They only had the Rabbi's and Priest to tell them what the word of God was and what the prophets said. So if these ancient religious leaders got the prophecies of the first coming wrong or confused the two comings of Christ as one event then this is what the people would have been taught. It is no different today how many people depend on the ministers, preachers, churches to tell them what Gods word says? Christ sent Paul among others to preach this to the Jews. However the Religious leaders of the times had been polluted through infiltration of the Kennites (Son's of Cain) so no longer had the spirit of God leading them,so inturn they mislead the people. God knew this would happen. He has temporarily turned his attention to the gentiles so that they may partake in the salvation of Jesus Christ. Do not mistake this for a replacement by the church(gentiles) as this time of the gentiles/grace will end and God will again turn his attention back to the Jews. He will bring about events(antichrist) that will weed out the kennites (those who claim to be Jews but are not) and show the rest the truth of Jesus Christ and this will bind/graft us together. His true church made up of Jew and gentile believers together for ever as Christan's

Acts speaks of 3000 coming to Christ , the first outreach outside Judah were to the Jews scattered about...the Talmudic Jews are those who still reject Christ, but God is calling many tradional Jews to 'Christ now... and many Christians to their Hebraic roots...I admit I am just overwhelmed with the discussions of late which have been making divisions, here a Jew, there a Greek...Please let us look to the words in Ephesians 2:13,14,15 Till we all come in the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the son of God unto a perfect man unto the measure of the stature of the fullnes of Christ That we henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sleight of men and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love may grow up into Him in all things which is the Head even Christ. This is what I pray for us all the grow in the Word into Christlike creatures I for one have a long way to go...But first, lets correctly indentify religions as opposed to a racial group...there is finally a growth in current Israel of the Messianic Jewish faith..how it is happening when it is not legal for a Jew who believes in Christ to obtain citizenship, I do not know, but its happening because God's will is being done. These are good words from Kriss, lets dig in to the basics Swampfox has laid out in the studies and get the basics down pat.. sealed in our minds for the day is coming when we all will face Satan posing as Christ and if we don't have the correct Word sealed in our minds, we could be dissuaded from the truth of God into the snares Satan has been setting...Divisions are one of his traps...lets give it a wide berth...

you are so right Bet I often compare this to a tree all Christians need to understand and accept that we come from Jewish roots without Jews and the line of David for Jesus to come through,Christians would not exist. A tree grown from its roots cannot suddenly become a different kind of tree it can look different to the world for a time because it gets more light from the sun (son) but in the end the tree and its roots are one in the same.

When writing this a thought came to my mind about Antichrist as I have written Antichrist will be used by God to bring the hearts of the children back to thier fathers (the true one or the false one).We know Antichrist comes first claiming to be Christ,we also know that he will come in peacefully. Many christians waiting for the rapture or who have not been taught Antichrist comes first along with many Jews who do not know, never new, Christ will at first be fooled by this Antichrist. Now for Antichrist to be believed by many to be Christ he will be CAUSING A GREAT DELUSION. Since he will be super natural this will not be difficult for him. He will be mimicking Christ miracles. Now what occurred to me was if this is so and the Jews are waiting for a king of kings that will bring world peace and cause miraculous things to occur that the below verseThe wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. (KJV, Isaiah 11:6)(We know this speaking of the millenium)might be ONE of the deceptions he will use to delude the many? Remember from above that this not occurring when Jesus came was one reason he was not accepted by the Jews. I of course do not know for sure that this will be one of the miracles that Antichrist will use to delude us, but I think it very possible. I am writing this more to give you an insight into how Antichrist may work so that you will be prepared and not be fooled.Remember he comes first and when he commits the abomination of desolation (sitting in the Holy place claiming to be God) the Jews will realize who he is the false Christ. It is then the real Christ will arrive.
