How harmful and damaging is lukewarm or half hearted christianity? Their lives will be bad witnesses for God. When we are not showing godly lives, who will pay attention to what we have to say about God and Jesus. We have responsibility to reach out to the world.

I would like to add that we should not condemn Christians striving to be godly witnesses for the Lord by saying they are trying to earn Salvation by good works. Satan loves to hear this kind of condemnation.
I don't think anybody was putting down anyone you asked a question and it was answered if you don't like the answer that's fine but it is not a put down it is what the word says. Gods says he will spit the luke warm out. Sorry if that's not the answer you want.However you are right in the sense everyone has to start somewhere and I be willing to say a large number of Christians at some point in the very beginning of there quest where Luke warm.Once you accept God into your heart and desire to know him this will change. Think of this in human terms if you told your girlfriend/boyfriend, husband/wifeyeah I love ya sometimes the rest of time I pretty much don't think about youbut hey I did do you a favor last year remember? How do you think that person would feel?probably not very loved or important to you. This is how God feels when you are luke warm. He gave you everything even the ground you walk on and best a luke warm person can is say i try a little when its convenient.
