    Abortion

Putting aside denominational bickering, anyone care to provide the strongest Scripture verse FOR and AGAINST abortion?

Denominations that teach only they will be saved

Can’t agree. I’ve made the point in several threads now that we are many things, not just one thing. I’m a worker, father, husband, son, neighbor, worker, tennis player, etc. There is not one correct answer to what I am.

Denominations that teach only they will be saved

I take it as a given that every one beliefs their religious beliefs are correct. What bother's me is the broad net that other beliefs necessarily mean one is condemned/damned/can't be saved/not born again or whatever term you want to use. I try to interpret Scripture very narrowly on who it...

Help police! KJV is taking away my freedom of religion in USA reading another Bible versions!

That's sad. I go to a non-denominational church. The Pastors admit that even they do not know what all the doctrines are of all the other denominations to form an opinion of them being wrong. They add that they are led by the Spirit to spread the word in the manner they have. I appreciate that...

Denominations that teach only they will be saved

wouldn't it be funny if it were any other church? The Denomination-X church holds that the Denomination-Y church is the one true church.

I understand. The common denominator is many KJV-only folks is that only those who read that translation are right, etc.

Well, that's one definition. The definition I use is the assertion of obtaining knowledge beyond rational means. This definition does not include divine revelation, whisperings of the Holy Spirit, Angels or other supernatural communication. For instance, Moses talked to a burning bush. Jesus...

Such thinking as only my denomination will be saved is scary to me.

Not quite. I showed how it is figurative speech in a book that is highly figurative, as opposed to mystical. Response? Crickets. Speculating "could be" (mystical reality) goes outside basic reading comprehension. Why reach for mystical reality when figure of speech is explanatory?

False. I reject the false concept that I do understand. Throughout my life believers have falsely equated me not understanding with me rejecting a false idea. IF Rev 2 & 20 had it, you would have quoted it.

I believe holding any doctine suspect is a healthy point to be at. The basic question is, why are doctrines needed at all? My wife has convinced me of the the simplicity of 'it's not about religion but relationships' which echoes what Jesus said, to love God and love others. Going to the next...

Friend, you are lost in the weeds. The point does not pivot on the object of the angels desire - flesh being different or forbidden, which wrongly implies a type of allowed flesh for angels. The point pivots on their sexual immorality - regardless of the target group. Consider a sentence, ‘the...

Both could be true. I can have all kinds of leaven AND you can be making all kinds of mystical connections - in the Bible, in life, etc. Could and can are mere possibilities. FWIW, I might see those same connections but attach a non-mystical explanation, independent of having a double dose of...

His problem is relying on the worst translation available in English. From ESV, which claims to be the most literal: just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of...

Well, the problem with mystical dualism is there is never an exclusive answer. His own references undermine the notion of finality connected to death. There is an Old Navy commercial where the woman says 'sorry, not sorry.' Mystical dualism is like that. Dead but not dead. Dead from a certain...

Putting aside retreating to foreign languages, I've already learned that mysticism is foolishness. Therefore, I reject all such appeals. Search instead for rational explanations.

CEV Ephesians 2:1-2: In the past you were dead because you sinned and fought against God. Colossians 2:13: You were dead, because you were sinful and were not God's people. But God let Christ make you[a] alive, when he forgave all our sins. OK. Having the time to find a 21st century American...
