The mid 60's or The mid 90's?

No...it makes it more unsettled. I have read him and I don't recall this claim, so I will have to search it out. But even if he is wrong about the length of Christ's ministry, it doesn't mean he is wrong about everything. It means we ought to check it out and not give him the benefit of doubt.

The mid 60's or The mid 90's?

I absolutely realize you were quoting a book. One or two times I did slip up and suggest you were the author, but I was in a flow of thinking. I apologize for that, but again... They were meant to be general questions. You are right, I hadn't previously considered them, and now I did. After...

The mid 60's or The mid 90's?

Willie, Just some questions and perspectives to give after about an hour into looking into this: We can't look at this as Biblical, but we can as historical. So it warrants investigation, but with the knowledge that it is second century, and there is a lot of garbage in the the 1st and 2nd...

The mid 60's or The mid 90's?

Interesting stuff! I am far from ready to jump aboard, though. Some of the points you made intrigue me more than others. I am interested in looking into the Syriac, as well as Irenaeus's errors. Some of the other stuff is speculation for now (as I see it for the time being). But it's all...

    Why God hides.

Mjrhealth is right... God ain't hiding. But he is forgiving and overlooking our shortcomings. He sees them as covered by the blood of Jesus.

    Cursing.

Clearly this thread is about proclaiming disaster and calamity will fall on someone and not dropping F bombs or something... I'm a bit disappointed because I had something lined up for that conversation! But proclaiming a curse on others is serious business. It ought not be done so...

Why do so many christians Hate Israel..

So I should listen to such garbage so I can know them? I will recheck the book of Proverbs, but I don't recall too many verses that say to listen to fools so you can protect yourself from them... But there's a whole bunch of verses that say don't listen to them.

Why do so many christians Hate Israel..

Cool. About 12 folks in my Church (including the Pastor) are or were avid motorcyclists. That group is getting old and frankly, are spending more time on spiritual things... They still like cycling and talking about it... But they aren't doing the big rides they used to do.

    love your enemy?

Wow! That was well said! I have tried so many times to say the same thing, but failed to put it so simply and to-the-point as this!

Why do so many christians Hate Israel..

No, I don't. When I see garbage coming I tend not pollute my mind with such. With that in mind, I am out there with other Christian people and being one myself... So you may be right... There may be posts about it and you tube videos... But that doesn't mean "so many Christians hate...

Why do so many christians Hate Israel..

I'm Christian. I don't hate Israel. None of the Christian's I fellowship with hate Israel. We call the USA a Christian nation, and we are allies with Israel... So where is this question coming from?

    love your enemy?

Well... Correcting you? In light of what you expounded, it was just a call to bring more out, but initially, perhaps it was. The most powerful statement that can ever be made in a prayer is " not my will, but they will be done". You can put your case before God, and he will always deal with...

    love your enemy?

This whole turn the other cheek thing.... Here's how Paul saw it: Romans 12:17-19 KJV Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. [18] If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. [19] Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but...

    love your enemy?

As I have been casually watching this thread, I was hoping this would come up. It's a very interesting conversation between a lawyer (doesn't that say all?) Who was looking to trap Jesus, and Jesus. There is a great revelation in this parable that people miss. Who was the Samaritan? The...

Study the Bible for Truth's Sake

Well tithing, or in the NT simply being a cheerful giver is pretty important. But it is a thin line not to be crossed. Is it the most important message? Probably not, but an integrated part of the most important message. A Pastor shouldn't be preaching for the income. He should be doing it...

Study the Bible for Truth's Sake

Well, this is a separate issue than the latter. This part is true. I am not a minister, nor am I part of a denomination. But my Pastor has confirmed that this does happen. While some denominations may state we must be in one mind and one Accord (which is true), it doesn't work. Paul had a...

(Bidah) fallacious Tactic!! Apply Your Own Terms To Concepts To Win Argument!!

Funny... I've seen it here on this board! I've caught them, called them out on it and got nothing but crickets. Sorry, won't give names... I know some stuff, but hardly even close to everything. But I do have the talent (if it is one) to question and dig out what is questionable. If someone...

    From Nut to Minister

God called highly educated men like Paul, (perhaps) uneducated fishermen like Andrew and Peter, "ruthless" publicans like Matthew, cowardly "mighty men of valor" like Gideon... Men from all walks of life. Why not a "nut"?

Are Doctrines affected by Modern Versions

Cool ... Just wanted to know we ain't all that way. Guess I am now a KJV Preferred.

Are Doctrines affected by Modern Versions

Honestly, I have never seen that bumper sticker! I live in Maryland, but have spent substantial time in many regions of the country. Put me with the KJV Preferred group. If anyone I am discussing the Bible with gives me a verse from another version, I probably won't flinch but might just...
