    Learning about Orthodoxy

Very good thank you. I love the late Fr Romanides. "Basil the Great, attributes the change in attitude to humanity rather than to God (Migne, 1857-1866b)." I have pondered on this a few times, in that, it is not God who is angry with sinners (with sin yes) but it is man who is angry.....with...

    Learning about Orthodoxy

@Pavel Mosko THE PATH TO SALVATION, A manual of Spiritual Transformation by St Theofan the Recluse. St. Theofan says: "Thus begins the warfare of the parents with the sin that dwells within the child". Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your...

    Learning about Orthodoxy

Reformation doctrines came directly from Augustine of Hippo who departed from early church teachings and has been or is classed as a heretic by many EO.

    Learning about Orthodoxy

I don't use scripture like Protestants, but as the early church, I believe that scripture will not contradict the teaching direct to the church via those who were/are united with Christ, apostles and their followers, which was expected of all bishops until there were not enough to continue with...

    Learning about Orthodoxy

Thankyou very much for the links you provided and your own testimony. Mine was very much on that line, coming from nearly 50 years of Evangelicalism, some of it as a Calvinist, and slowly seeing that it did not match the early church in its doctrines. I had read a lot on entire sanctification...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

Fair enough, though I think we have a lot to learn from him about the spiritual pathway back to the garden of Eden, entering through the fiery swords which the angel guards with, in order to be united with our Saviour and be given the position that Adam did not achieve. Indeed. Psychologists...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

I believe that God created Adam to choose to be united with Him in perfect obedience, but that it required a test before that could happen, as willingness was vital, as love cannot be forced. So He created him innocent, without sin, and so therefore he could communicate with God but was not in...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

Yes agreed and as I said before Adam was not united with God because he would have been wearing the full armour. The relationship was one where Adam still had to prove himself so he was not saved. It depends on what credit you give to the early church who taught The Way of Purgation...

You think they are Christians? Now I know why your discernment is right off.

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

Ephesians 6:11: Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

I do not believe in water baptism regeneration. If Adam & Eve were in spiritual union with God then they would not have been deceived by Satan. Satan cannot do that if one is in union with God. We are delivered from the wiles of the devil in this union. They did not have that.

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

No. He died spiritually as we all have a spirit but was not in union with God. His spirit was alive yes but he was not in union. It does not say that in scripture. His spirit died and ours dies too after we reach the age of accountability but before then, as innocent children, we are not in union.

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

Adam did not have 'spiritual union'. He was made innocent but was instructed that he had to feed from the tree of life. However he did not and lost his innocence. True reconciliation means to be made perfect as He is perfect.

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

More insight last night. Reconciliation, is becoming united again with someone with whom one has become alienated. So there was a relationship to start with. It is not the case when one becomes aquainted with another with whom there was no past connection. This is where the church is wrong and...

    Learning about Orthodoxy

The ones I have read, I believe had reached the stage of Illumination, whereby they had the truth revealed about crucifixion with Christ, and had the cleansing to be able to overcome deliberate sin. George Fox reached that stage but recorded in his Journal that there was another higher stage...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

Romans 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. Two works of God, reconciliation and then later on, salvation. The church believes that it is the reconciliation that saves. This is not the...

    Learning about Orthodoxy

Sister, the reformers were refuting the RCC, who followed and still follow the traditions of men and especially since they left the one true catholic church, and threw the baby out with the bathwater and ignored the true early church stance on this issue. (from the orthodoxbridge.com site)...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. This is the water Jesus spoke about, the water He would give, the water that cleanses from all sin. The Holy...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

I think it has something to do with the cleansing from sin, to be made pure as well as the work of the Spirit (for the second time).

I will try to find again something I read recently about this.
