    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

Sorry marks, I am speaking to other readers too when I write. It all happened on the cross. It is just a matter of having it made a reality. But there is a point of entering in, whereby we reckon it is so. Stepping out in faith as it were. I remember the day that it felt like stepping of the...

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

The inner man is the spirit - our core. The outer man is where we relate to the world and the flesh in my understanding.

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

@marks: Very plainly Paul wrote that he was not a qualified judge himself to say he had no sin. He also said, again quite plainly, that he had "not yet attained". He also wrote that God will be working in us throughout our lives bringing us to completion. Many cling to the verses, and others...

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

The details of it all are not to be the subjects of debate or intellectual understanding. Holiness teachers will often disagree. We find out on the journey and the most important thing if we want to get there, is to listen to the Holy Spirit carefully, especially on the 'little things' and begin...

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

"Paul states in his letter to the Romans that there was something “in the members” of his body that he calls “my flesh,” which produced difficulty in his Christian life and made him a prisoner of sin. Martin Luther, in his preface to the book of Romans, commented on Paul’s use of “flesh” by...

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

@marks The 'outer-man' needs to be broken, the body of sin. In its unbroken state it prevents the spirit from flowing out in its purity. It mixes with the prominent feature of the outer man which is our main characteristic. The Lord shines His light and we see this and it is burned away for...

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

@marks I believe that your understanding of 'flesh' is not scriptural. It is used for the physical body agreed, but it is also used as the whole old nature which is to be crucified with Christ. This is going to take some doing so will get back tomorrow.

Now come on Dan, they are very wrong on some things but they are right on quite a bit. Those who promoted RCC spirituality has always had a hard time. Like St John of the Cross. He believed in the later Protestant version of second blessing holiness, but had a very hard time with his seniors...

They also believe in the Trinity. Not supporting them, just saying.

@Pavel Mosko Thanks for that. However, he is just agreeing with the Protestant theological concept of sanctification which todays Orthodox have no problem with. That is to say - gradual sanctification. I suppose it helps refute the wrong ideas of some who think it is sharing God's essence...

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

@marks I thank you for this conversation because I had never heard of the interpretation of Romans 7 you have laid out. I believe it is a new invasion of the church of a doctrine that would have been recognized as a new kind of Gnosticism and kept out previously. So many new errors these last...

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

You are correct marks, l believe that being born again is a new creation. A person redeemed who walks as Christ walks. The foundation, as you rightly say, is entirely different and not one that stands to reasoning in the interpretation of scripture. I know all of the scriptures and verb...

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

I'm not denying that there is a process to it and an ongoing sense of maintaining it through faith in the keeping of the Holy Spirit. But there is a point, usually due to a crisis, where we are shown how to overcome the flesh even in the thoughts by the power of God Almighty. I don't know how...

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

Paul is saying at this point, that illumination has come to him that his flesh does not serve God and is the body of the death he has presented and asks who will deliver him. The answer comes and he thanks God. The flesh, the body of sin has to be on the cross with Christ, not just Christ there...

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

I can see why you would be touchy about the second blessing theology as it is unanimous amongst Wesleyans, the Holiness .Movement, the early church (three blessings) and you are out on a limb with those who say that a period of suffering is required. But you are out on a limb with other things...

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

You say here that Paul was blameless so l assumed you were saying it was the Pharisee. I made a mistake and apologise but you were unclear, and there you go again being insulting. You just can't help it can you. What a witness to what you claim. If you do not clean up your act on my thread l...

I am enjoying this! But I am now going to read Irenaeus Against Heresies and will get back tomorrow hopefully.

You say that man must serve the law of sin in his body

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

Saying the spirit of man is pure and can exist in a corrupted body is Gnostic heresy.
