Because their sins will be washed away (like ours are) by the blood of Jesus. He will have mercy. That was all He was ever waiting for! That is the only defense Israel has. That is their only hope of possessing the land.

He will do what He says. He will heal them and restore them and be their God and remember their sins no more one day. After they are saved in the end.
