What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

Every time you say "Mormonism is a cult".

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

It's not a very useful word. It has many conflicting definitions that limiting it's ability to convey a message, and is very inflammatory. Speaking in general you have words like "unorthodox" or "heretical". Those are much more effective. That's not remotely true! Try quoting a Catholic...

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

Except Deuteronomy says practically the same thing. Obviously these passages refer to their specific book, not a compilation of books that didn't even exist at that time. And they certainly aren't a gag order on God.

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

Perfect honesty straight up: I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. At the start, middle, and end. I do not idolize Joseph Smith, and acknowledge that he was a sinner just like every other regular human on this earth. I do also believe that he was also a flawed instrument in God's hands. I also...

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

I had a whole thread I wrote about it: What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ That's inaccurate. I do follow Christ.

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

@Prayer Warrior , the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints isn't some nebulous ghost. It consist of individuals believers, people like me. You are indeed calling me a "cultist" in these posts, which is both highly inaccurate and offensive. As for supposed contributions: I love every...

Do Joseph Smith and Ellen White fir Bibal criteria of a true Prophet?

I can't comment on the SDA CARM page. But the "Mormon" one is complete hogwosh. Literally every single sentence of it is giving downright false information. It's a complete embarrassment to Evangelical Christians. It's entirely possible to disagree with someone's beliefs and be accurate &...

Do Joseph Smith and Ellen White fir Bibal criteria of a true Prophet?

@JesusFan1 I'm a "Mormon" and I assure you that you and I and Catholic and Protestants and SDA etc all worship the one Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the very Son of God whom willingly suffered and died that each of us might be saved thorough faith in Him. If you actually want to talk about things...

What are Your Feelings on Tithes

IF your heart is first and foremost on God, then supporting physical operations of the church through tithes should be an obvious and natural thing to do. If you attitude is "Yeah I like Jesus- but don't you dare touch my money!!!" ... where is your heart and what are you truly placing first?

What are Your Feelings on Tithes

You should indeed. It’s important to put God first. Too often people put their money first.

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

Scripture is the delivery vessel. God is the teacher. Christ is the greatest gift.

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

Your questions are rhetorical. God testifies of Truth. All Truth placed there is from God. Not the lump of paper- that’s the delivery vessel, not The Almighty God.

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

I'm sorry, but this strikes me very akin to praising the donkey that carried Christ into town and calling that the greatest gift. No, He is the greatest gift. Not the delivery method. This isn't downplaying the fact that scripture is super important. But God is the most important.

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

God is greatest above all. That includes scripture.

    Universal Salvation

Free will is free. Not manipulated. And with that... I try really hard to be respectful of other people's beliefs. But this is one I frequently fail in that regard. So I don't see much point in beating what's a dead horse.

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

Actually it does: First and foremost praise should go to the Son of God directly, not the vehicle that delivers a message.
