    Universal Salvation

That's called manipulation and force. Sorry, I don't worship a God who's into that. Love is freely given. Not forced, not manipulated, or in any way enslaved.

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

This again... Christ is God's greatest gift to mankind. And a person truly comes to know Him through the gift for the Holy Spirit. Scripture is super super important, but God Himself comes first. To try to put scripture above HIm... that's like saying the donkey that carried Christ into town...

    Universal Salvation

That's not the best question here. I'm not Scoot, but for me, God doesn't force/manipulate others to "get what he wants". Rather, He acknowledges each person's free will and that love must be freely given.

    Universal Salvation

Your view of God seems to be one where he forces/manipulated everything. I acknowledge your view in that regard, but do not share it.

    Sufficency of Scripture

*sigh* No, talking to me directly would be one-on-one. Let me know when you're up for that. @justbyfaith, Edit to add scripture: "15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother...

    Sufficency of Scripture

Dude: this is redcilous. If you want t talk to me about how you perceive my faith to be wrong and sinful, then talk to me directly.

    Sufficency of Scripture

*sign* I'll respond via PM, rather than making with "Mormon bashing thread #7252".

    Sufficency of Scripture

justbyfaith, we've been over this THOROGUHLY about how your claim here is just downright false. Feel free to disagree with another's beliefs. Do NOT feel free to misrepresent them and hence bear false witness. If you believe that salvation comes via faith in Christ and faith alone without...

    Sufficency of Scripture

Actually my response was that LDS Christians do not believe that all non-LDS Christians are going to Hell. Contrary to many other branches of Christianity, where it is believed that a person's admittance to Heaven is dependent on their ability to pass a theology test correctly. @Enoch111, I...

    Sufficency of Scripture

For the record: "Mormons" don't hold that stance at all. Other Christian branches, frequently do.

    Home-schooling

Honestly, I would only feel comfortable with first-hand learning: living & learning there myself for several years. Edit-- Note: I thought you were talking about German laws. General homeschooling is.... not for us right now. DD really benefits from the social environment. I have freinds...

    Home-schooling

Personally, I don't feel comfortable commenting on another country's laws, especially when I have so little idea of the laws themselves, the history, and current culture driving things. Speaking as an American, I don't have any problem with people here homeschooling, public schooling, private...

    I feel abused. Sad

I was simply suggesting counseling for yourself then. I myself went through counseling and it made a world of difference - - suddenly having the right tools to unravel problems I'd been wrestling with for years.

    I feel abused. Sad

*hugs and prayers* Would the two of you be interested in marriage counseling? Or just counseling for yourself?

How should the church service be structured

Another point to add: If people are coming from a background where they're used to "church" being defined as showing up for an hour on Sunday for an hour for a rock concert and a charismatic public speaker, and that's the end, then.... well my church's style of doing things is a major culture...

How should the church service be structured

That's odd. Testimonies are wonderful. I wonder what was going on here. AMEN!!! There is that human tendency of making things travel-logs or going off on tangents. Combating it is a matter of culture, reminding people frequently, and at points downright forgiving people whom mess up.

How should the church service be structured

My church does things differently than your standard Protestant one. -Nobody is paid. All positions are filled with volunteers that have regular day jobs. Positions switch around frequently (roughly 1-5 years). -There is no central sermon. Rather there's ~3 mini-sermons (~10 mins) by...

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

Another thing to clarify about the above: LDS Christians do indeed consider the Bible to be scripture and the word of God. For every one year of Sunday School focus on the Book of Mormon, there are two for the Bible. It is indeed prized and not remotely looked down upon. One thing that is a...

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

@Prayer Warrior , I get where your intent is here and it is completely admirable to want to bring people closer to Christ. However, poorly done aoplogetics can have the opposite effect, and I would caution you (any anyone else) to choose words carefully, thoughtfully, and with the most charity...

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

I realize I didn't give the finished story with this-- My former friend is forgiven for her trespasses, obviously. Our friendship did not survive the ordeal, both because of that and other issues, and my wounds are still healing. But I acknowledge Christ's supremacy in everything here. My...
