The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

Hence why it so seldom works for it's adherents or anyone else. Rather than bashing why you think a person is brainwashed and wrong, instead focus on the Lord & exemplifying His Truth.

The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

I'm sorry, but I've never seen "anti-cult" encourage any real faith development for anyone (including it's adherents) or loving another person. And I've seen LOTS of example of it doing the opposite.

Obviously going to disagree with you there.

The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

Which involves actually seeing the person, listening to them, and taking the time to understand what they believe. Not "anti-cult" techniques of de-humanizing people and spewing hate.

The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

How about we all quit all of the hate spewing, and instead focus on following the Second Great Commandment?

The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

That is good to realize. That's another very important thing to realize. No one's saying anyone has to agree with anything -- I certainty have disagreements with other faith groups! But we can still have the courage to develop our own faith to know what & why we each believe what we do. And...

The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

It's a matter of decency and respect to both: - The other person (pretty obvious). - And also yourself. My salvation is not dependent on another person worshiping a crazy flying spaghetti monster. I can (and should!) deepen my faith so that I know why and what I believe, and able to answer...

The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

I'll be blunt: "The purpose of an "anti-cult" platform is to enforce boundary maintenance via making the "other" faith look like a horrible boogie man. There's usually little interest in one's own faith development, being accurate as to another's faith, and zero interest in seeing individuals...

The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

Do you actually want to listen & learn -- even if it doesn't match what you've been told? Or do you just want to inform people how you think their faith is a "shipwreck"?

The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

Piece of advice: before you go and blanket declare millions of people condemn, go and listen to what people actually believe. From the person themselves, not from somebody whispering "I'll tell you what Bob really believes."

    Are we our brothers keeper?

    1) yes 2) to support each other on our walk through life and especially walk with Christ. Mourn with those that mourn, comfort those that need comforted, help bear each other’s burdens, etc 3) Duty. 4 and 5) there are boundaries in what is helpful/healthy. Obviously you need to keep your own...

The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

....? Me having a Fundamentalist pastor friend, whom I chat with about Christ & enjoy his perspectives = me being prejudice? I also have Catholic friends, agnostic, generic Protestant friends, generic non-denom, atheist, etc. I'm sorry, this objection and conversation seems to be completely...

Saying someone is a great Christian and friend = prejudice? ....... ? ......

The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

I'm not talking about Fundamentalists or generic born-agians. I actually have friends whom are Fundamentalists, including two pastors whom are great Christians.

The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

@Grailhunter makes a good point about the time-wasting of this whole discussion. So justbyfaith, maybe one day you'll figure out which group I'm talking about. But in the meantime, you have a nice evening.

The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

There's some person whom will believe just about any view. This group very encourages it's disciples to: - only trust the leader's views. Anything which contradicts that view is a lie. - discourage independent thinking/investigation - regard others outside of the group with huge suspicion and...

The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

You sure? It encourages it's disciples to to only trust the leader's views, regard others outside of the group with huge suspicion and lesser-ness, discourage independent thinking/investigation, and huge threats of damnation if they stray from the specified path.

The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

I stated a longer post here, but it's really not worth the effort. justbyfiath, I have degliantly studied many many faiths, Christian and non. In all of my travels, I've only encountered one that so fundamentally preached hatred, pride, de-humanizing others, falsehoods, blind adhesiveness to...

The Jesuits ... What is their role? Part 1 and 2

This post is... *eye roll* justbyfaith, if you care about Catholics or anyone else, ditch the assumption that a Catholic person is an uneducated/deceived idiot, that you know more about their beliefs than them, and that this "anti-cult" stuff is remotely loving. None of that's reality, it's...
