I think these are very valid questions, and important ones. So many times, here in North America, the two are confused and mingled, as though it were possible, which actually makes for a perverted gospel.

Yes, by the work of Christ, many are reconciled to God and taught to walk in righteousness! And by his blood, our past sins are forgiven!

I do think that the difference is at the level of love. But as you pointed out, the love of God, which compels us was already there in the Old Covenant... In a way! What has changed?
