I find that may Catholics are Christians IN SPITE of their church, not because of it. There are so many things the church does that run contrary to the simplicity of a relationship with Jesus. And yes, I speak from experience. I was an altar boy for years and grew up going to Catholic...

I can honestly agree with that. Especially when the Bible verses do nothing to support your position. I have seen several people here put out a blizzard of verses (usually cut and paste) deciding that volume is better than validity - Mr. Word is a good example.
