If our interpretation of scripture sidesteps common sense, did we get it right?

It leaves me with the Apostles Ministry and not the Catholics. Here's some data on the water... Water baptism is a carryover from part of the Levitical Law. There are many examples of people in the Old Testament who would wash themselves with water as a final step to being clean. Water baptism...

Abiding In Christ Necessary for Eternal Life

Yeah I know the whole thing is a mess. Folks don't know the difference between soul and spirit or that the new man has nothing to do with you flesh.

If our interpretation of scripture sidesteps common sense, did we get it right?

Much of the Roman Catholic doctrine was assimilated into Protestantism and is still being passed along as Christian groups continue to split off from one another. In a nutshell that is why even the independent church in your neighborhood today most probably believes that there is a trinity...

Is God sending people straight to hell when they die, today?

I mentioned Philip when I said... From the habit of tradition, and only for a short period of time, a small handful of people were baptized with water into the New Testament, but never again afterwards. Water does nothing to anybody that has any common sense other then get you wet.

Abiding In Christ Necessary for Eternal Life

Nope... we are not on the same page. Can't even get past your first sentence. To be "in Christ" is to be walking in our new nature and that has nothing to do with how we act.

Abiding In Christ Necessary for Eternal Life

It's the "abide in Christ" that we first need to define if we are going to continue to communicate with each other. I believe "in Christ" means walking in our new nature after we have had "Christ in us" which is the new birth. What do you mean when you use "in him" and "Christ in you"?

If our interpretation of scripture sidesteps common sense, did we get it right?

"It doesn't need to make sense, I just need to accept it" is not biblical. There's no teaching anywhere in the New Testament that suggests we should trust an un-trusting item. This concept of taking it on faith is not biblical. It's Catholic.

Abiding In Christ Necessary for Eternal Life

Am I to understand that you think David was a Christian? That he had the spirit of Christ thousands of years before it was first given in Acts chapter 2?

Is God sending people straight to hell when they die, today?

It's the truth of the Scriptures. Let's start with the water since you say you want to see stuff. What part of the following is just my opinion... Water baptism is a carryover from part of the Levitical Law. There are many examples of people in the Old Testament who would wash themselves with...

Is God sending people straight to hell when they die, today?

The whole holy spirit field is a mess everywhere both in our churches and in our culture. The Catholics helped with a lot of this when they wiped the spirit off the planet by making it God. So we speak about the soul and spirit and think it all means the same. Plants have a body. Animals have a...

Abiding In Christ Necessary for Eternal Life

The Catholics took the Apostles ministry over pretty early. It did not get big and popular until the second century. But for it to be that big then it must have took roots much earlier. I read historians writing about holy water as far back as the year 80 or 90. They may have been around...

Is God sending people straight to hell when they die, today?

The soul is not from God. It's breath life. You die when you take your last breath.

You are considered losing any debate when you start attacking the person. You have nothing left because you can't win on the subject matter.

The soul is immortal ha... sounds Catholic to me and they have never been right about anything.

Abiding In Christ Necessary for Eternal Life

Oh I see you're playing little word games. Again, it's not the Scripture we are talking about even though you keep saying we are. It's your understanding of that Scripture. When I said your stuck on 1 John. I meant your understanding of 1 John. Since you are playing little word games I'm going...

It's not the Scripture you're stuck on. It's you religion your stuck on. And why do you keep saying I'm changing my mind or changing my words?
