Where in the bible does it say I need to use it

I don't believe it was God's plan to have a bunch of subjective views with all of this invariable conflict and controversy.

Where in the bible does it say I need to use it

You COMPLETELY missed my point. You believe the NT as you understand/interpret it. "Bob" believes the NT and Bob understand/interprets it. You BOTH love it and BOTH believe it. Even when you have different understandings of things.

kcnalp, do you realize that other people have different interpretations of those words? No one isn't taking them seriously, but there are different understandings.

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

I'm sorry that happened to you. Some people are indeed hateful, and often blindly so. I wish I could say that you won't find them here, tragically, they exist on every sets of pews out there (forums/churches/etc). When you do come across such a person, it's usually best to say a silent prayer...

Who Do I Confess My Sins To?

Neutral party here (I'm neither Catholic or Protestant) Having studied both, my findings have been: From the Catholic perspective & interpretation, there is zero contradiction between Catholic doctrine and the Bible. Things are well reasoned out. From the Protestant perspective &...

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

Actual member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint (nick named "Mormon") here going to clarify things. Your friend was not getting married at his local church building where he attends church each week, partakes of the Lord's Supper, has Sunday School etc. You (or anyone else) are...

Where in the bible does it say I need to use it

This changes the stance from being: -Only scripture and only scripture. -To only things I believe to be in accordance with scripture. It's a big difference. DNB, I respect your views here due to the fact they are part of you. But I don't remotely agree with them, nor find them to hold much...

    Passover vs Eucharist

"Bashing" is indicated by the way a person treats another and their beliefs. In a person is being disrespectful in their approach, then that is bashing. It is entirely possible to disagree and be respectful about it: honestly striving to listen, learn, and better understand things. I think...

Where in the bible does it say I need to use it

Few thoughts here: That's expanding the definition of "scripture" a lot beyond the Bible itself. The first bit of trust and faith is a gift from the Spirit- to help that person understand academically and in the heart. "Ears to hear". Then (hopefully) a person comes to trust more & learns...

Where in the bible does it say I need to use it

Precedence? I'm not sure I'm understanding your question here. God is first. He lives, He speaks. He is the power- the metaphorical "horse". He speaks through the Spirit directly to hearts. The "cart" are through written words in scriptures, prophets, experiences, etc. They follow Him...

Where in the bible does it say I need to use it

Even Sola Scirptura is a teaching not directly found in the Bible :) My point was not to blindly follow men whom claims t have spiritual experiences (NO WAY!!!). But rather to have the Spirit testify to each person individually-- do *you* know for *yourself*? To learn and be proactive with...

Where in the bible does it say I need to use it

Yes. We should never try to read scripture as just scripture alone, but rather always invite the Spirit to testify of Truth & enlighten our understanding.

Where in the bible does it say I need to use it

Anthony, if you're going to believe the Five Sola's are required to be considered a true Christian, then by definition you're not just holding to scripture only (the Reformation teachers aren't scripture). To be truly only using scriptures you need to toss all of the following out of the...

Who Do I Confess My Sins To?

I quoted both of you, acknowledging that both are striving to follow Christ, and encouraging love & non-bashing. I'm sorry if that somehow strikes you as "anti-Catholic".

Where in the bible does it say I need to use it

Not in this thread, but I am aware of how much you passionately agree with his teachings.

Where in the bible does it say I need to use it

Are the Five Solas of the Reformation scripture? No. So you now have two things: scripture + Five Solas of the Reformation. Note: I'm not saying that you can't believe that the Five Solas of the Reformation accurately reflect scripture -- that's a different question. But if you're holding to...

Where in the bible does it say I need to use it

If you're holding to the Five Solas of the Reformation, then by that very act you are not being sola scriptura yourself.

Where in the bible does it say I need to use it

Not just via a book. Things like the Spirit testifying to a person are critically important. Going out and living the Christian life. Etc. As long as you're willing to agree that means Calvin's work & the Creeds can all be discarded ;).

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

A good & commendable approach. It's just important to get the best quality information from direct sources. There's a lot of really bad ones out there.

The myth of grace-only & easy-believism shattered forever

Oh there's a whole mountain of them: "demon-worshipers", "cultists", "non-Christian", etc.
