    'be not afraid'

Interesting argument. But looking that up, it seems all those verses are not talking about the fear of God, but about NOT fearing your enemy, because God is with you. We are indeed to fear none but God. I do think we should fear the Lord as a servant fears his master, and as one fears a judge...

Be ye doers of the Word...

Did Jesus give them a written copy of the new testament, or the living word, the life, the revelation of the Father? We are to abide in Christ, who is the word. :) The scriptures are very useful, and through them, the Lord can teach us much, but without the Spirit, all this is empty.

    Religion (To bind)

I do agree with you, in that sense of religion. I was using another sense often conveyed. :) Ultimately I think we are called to be free from all religion of this kind because we can follow Christ by the Spirit. I would compare the 'religion' you are talking about to the law, which is a tutor...

Be ye doers of the Word...

Good catch with John 17:17! You are right, and what I said was wrong, the Lord does sanctify us through his word. :) But your flaw comes here. You see word as scritpure and scripture only. Yet Christ spoke many things that were not in the old testament, and so did Paul. They spoke the words of...

What is our 'Tower of Babble'?

Yes! We must first recognize that we are blind to then receive sight from the Lord! :) Makes me think of Saul/Paul.

    The Idea of Two Gospels

Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. Acts 15:11 But we believe that through the grace of the LORD Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they. Salvation is a process, it begins at reconciliation, I concede that, but only if we...

Be ye doers of the Word...

Well said, Gypsy, it is as ridiculous as the idea that accepting the doctrine of 'being in Christ' makes you to be in Christ. We must truly be in the Spirit, walking in the life of Christ. 2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is...

    Religion (To bind)

Yes. :) Sadly, we make it about religion whenever we unite according to doctrine, which happens alot. It highlights our blindness. The reality is we must unite according to spirit, coming together because of brotherly love and love for the Lord.

    Religion (To bind)

This thread is about religion in the sense of biding (as opposed to the sense of 'true religion' which James tells us about). This is my thoughts on it. The error of today is to think that unity is according to doctrine. We somehow think that if we have the right answers, God will accept us...

What is religious is any scheme that claims to reconcile us to God without actually changing our spiritual reality and truly making us one with him, not only in word, but in spirit and truth.

Be ye doers of the Word...

Amen to Aspen, this is what the spirit has been impressing on me. It is such foolishness to think our doctrine saves us, in this case, our doctrine becomes our tower of Babel, by which we try to climb to God. To be doers of the word includes this; 'walk by the Spirit'. If we truly are...

Norway shooter a Christian fundamentalist ?

That is indeed correct. You walk according to a spirit of division and hatred, which seeks to put one people above another simply on the merits of their flesh. Christ tells us to walk in his Spirit, which when we do, makes us full of love for all, and especially the brethren.

What does it mean to have eternal life?

Amen to aspen and Buzzfruit! Eternal life is to know him, that is, walk with him, and be one with him.

    Homosexuality

Christ is enough to grant us entrance, but it is not without conditions. Those being 'repent and believe'. If we are to be saved in the end, the condition that comes after 'repent and believe' is 'persevere'.

A simple way to understand the Trinity

What amazes me today is that there is so much concentration on doctrine and so little on actually live in the reality of the Spirit and in perfect union with God. Good doctrine is just that... Good. But we must seek to walk in the eternal reality now, to walk by the Spirit now. We must seek to...

What is our 'Tower of Babble'?

I understand it as representining man's effort to justify himself, or do the works of God, but in his own strength. The tower of the Babel is actually most prominent in the church, those who DO try to go to God. Everytime we build our own doctrine, and walk according to doctrine, rather than...

    Works vs. Good works

I am always puzzled at the popular belief that somehow, because we started following Jesus, we are guaranteed to follow to the end. That is what we say, after all, when we consider that unless a man continues to the end, he never really started. We are freed in Christ, but that is for good...

    'be not afraid'

Interesting fact! :) It's amazing how many times we are told not to fear our enemies! We must have the heart of Joshua and Caleb, who, even though they saw an enemy greater than they, feared not, and trusted the Lord. When we see Goliath, we must have faith like David!
