Is There Different Beliefs Among Catholics? Chrislam Movement?

For the record-- Catholics are Christians. Protestants are Christians. "Mormons" are Christians. They're all different subgroups and each think their particular way is most correct. But they're all Christian. Let's not play the stupid game where we try to deny someone else's relationship...

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

I am not going to comment on you as a person. I'm speaking methods here. We just shine His light, loving all. Even those that disagree with us. Not spreading hate-spam, getting in others faces, being jerks, trampling on others, etc.

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

Shining a light naturally shows that light. No need to chase down and bully others.

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

In practice I find that frequently doesn't really avoid the issue, sadly :(

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

You seem to be using "rebuke" as if it was to harass or bully or argue. A disciple of Christ has no need to get in somebody's face and say "you're wrong!". No need for spreading hate-spam or other junk I see people do in the name of "rebuking". No. Just speak Truth & light with your...

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

There is no command to bully those that disagree with us. Nor harass or bicker. Rather the command is to testify of Truthfulness, and walk as His disciple. A person does not need to chase down darkness. Rather, just show His light.

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

Preach Truth. Speak goodness. Conduct yourself in a manner as He would and let His light shine through you. Skip the arguing/squabbling/bullying/harassment.

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

And GOD shall reveal that to each person. Not some idiot sinner trying to win an argument (we are all idiot sinners). It is HIS throne. Not yours or mine or any other mortals.

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

And then we once again devolve into "my interpretation is right and yours is wrong" ping pong matches. Rather than letting God speak to each person. It is His throne, no one else's.

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

Here's my thing: I know many people who like to sit on God's throne. They view their beliefs as infallible. Everyone should follow them and their interpretation of scripture. Everyone who as a different interpretation-- no matter how well "Steve" studied and prayed and communed with the Lord...

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

But anybody who disagrees with you and your interpretation of scripture is automatically wrong, and therefore needs to be your disciple? Are you claiming to be God?

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

That's no answering my question. I'll ask a third time: "Bob" is a teacher. "Steve" is Bob's pupil and the Lord testifies to Steve that Bob is a good teacher )yes this includes from prayer and scripture study). You disagree and believe that Bob is a false teacher. Now, who should Steve...

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

That is part of the seeking the Lord. Now, I'm going to ask again: "Bob" is a teacher. "Steve" is Bob's pupil and the Lord testifies to Steve that Bob is a good teacher )yes this includes from prayer and scripture study). You disagree and believe that Bob is a false teacher. Now, who should...

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

"Bob" is a teacher. "Steve" is Bob's pupil and the Lord testifies to Steve that Bob is a good teacher. You disagree and believe that Bob is a false teacher. Now, who should Steve believe as to whether or not Bob is a good teacher? He can either listen to you, or the testimony he receives...

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

It is the ENTIRE point of what I am saying. There are many teachers and teacher's teachers out there. People can discuss or argue or squabble about things all day long. But ultimately, a person needs their own relationship with the Lord and to follow Him. Not me, you, or any mortal...

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

Should a person follow the Lord or you? Don't try to take the Lord's throne in this regard. To often us humans fall into that prideful trap.

How Should We Read the Church Fathers?

Here's how things ultimately boil down in regards to the ECF and other teachers: - Nobody is an island. You are going to be influenced by teachers and the teacher's teachers, etc. - You can either ignore or acknowledge this, and study that legacy to whatever depth. - Ideally though your...

    GALATIANS 1:8 WHO IS ACCURSED ? ***

Thumbs up for actually having th8s recognized! And now thumbs down. Heh, partial credit at least. As to Galatians 1: you need to look at the WHOLE chapter, not just verse 8. The urging is for a person to have a direct relationship with the Lord God, rather than relying on "well Mike...

Is There Different Beliefs Among Catholics? Chrislam Movement?

just like every other Christian group, Catholics aren’t clones of each other. You’ll find a variety of beliefs, opinions, devotion levels, etc.

Penal Substitution is NOT a “Theory”

I hear you there. Such is the natural man & sinner within each of us. Still, I have found those rare people whom do care and want to honestly understand other people's positions, even those they passionately disagree with. I would like to think of myself as one of them, though I am obviously...
